Detail shot of a rare Red Band Remington 1903 bolt-action rifle.

I did this shoot for a local FFL, Aesir Tactical & Armory, who is actually selling these two rifles. If you're interested, check this out sites.google.com/site/aesirtacticalarmory/red-star-1903-s

The weather was in single digits outside, but inside the Conservatory at Longwood Gardens all was toasty warm.

Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees. The first, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti) about 1696–1697 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier during his third expedition to the Greater Antilles. He named the new genus after the renowned German botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566).

Much better, thanks Willy.

These red foxes are part of an extended family. Two vixens had litters a few weeks apart, and they share two den sites about a hundred meters apart. Their two litters are mixed at each den site.

The adults are still shedding their winter coats in June, so they look rather ratty, but the cubs have full, soft, red coats.

They feed primarily on Columbian ground squirrels, with a few birds, voles and trout for variety.

Red-shouldered Hawk - western form

Buteo lineatus elegans

I expected to see a lot of red-shouldered hawks in California but this was the only one that I got a good look at. Still, it's the best picture I have yet of the species.

I was fortunate to be selected as a volunteer photographer for the Fairtrade Fortnight Big Bunting Party in St Martin's Square in Leicester on Saturday 12th March 2011. I had a great time photographing the Volunteers, the bunting, the visitors and the fantastic Emmanu'EL Apostolic Gospel Academy Choir based at De Montfort University.
