There is a reason why Florida was nicknamed the Sunshine State.
Florida is the fourth most-populated state in the country, and it's beaches draw thousands of tourists every year. Most of the state has a humid subtropical climate, except for the southern part below Lake Okeechobee (which has a true tropical climate).
The Florida Keys (surrounded by water) have a more tropical climate, with less variability in temperatures compared to mainland Florida.
The state of Florida is the southernmost state on the continental United States, boasting both peninsula and panhandle landforms. Florida is renowned for its exceptionally sunny, but humid, tropical climate. Florida is also known by other state nicknames such as "Alligator State," "Orange State" and "Everglade State," the nickname "Sunshine State" was officially adopted by the Florida Legislature in 1970. The nickname appeals to "snowbird" tourists who, especially during cold winters in the northern climates, visit Florida for its spectacular weather and warm beaches. Tourism is the largest industry in the state and one of the top domestic and international destinations in the world.
I enjoy Florida, walking, cycling, deep sea fishing, photo shooting and seeing Florida Sun rises and sunsets.
This state is my future retirement home. :-)

It was open for 2 weeks before they closed it again. The inhabitants are not happy about the closing. There is no reason. There is a lot of space, it's outdoors. People wouldn't get Covid here. Instead of visiting the park, people walk around it, everybody on a narrow footpath, lots of people. It's much more dangerous.
The reason why I chose this title:
I keep having the impression to see a kind of crucifix next to (/because of) the biblical painting .

For some reason, the stance and portly disposition of this king penguin reminds me of famouse movie maker, Alfred Hitchcock (scriptangel.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/alfred-hitchco...). Perhaps his reincarnated soul is considering a remake of his big hit, "The Birds", but in the southern hemisphere. LOL
When resting, the penguins seemed to stand in this position with their eyes closed for long periods. They would also tuck their head under a flipper for a snooze. When in a crowd, that could fool you, as the head of the penguin next to it may be up, so the two blend together visually.
This is another image from St. Andrew's Bay on South Georgia.
I shot this early in Spring this year. I think the Oystercatcher was defending his nesting territory. The Eagle was defending himself and trying to eat a fish just caught. Both were not happy
Although this is the longest unmanned international border in the world, don't let that fool ya.
About twenty years ago some enterprising fellows rented an old greenhouse not far from here; they got busy planting tomatoes and...digging a tunnel. Things seemed legit but residents along both sides of the border are vigilant; many months later the crew was nabbed when they emerged on the Washington side.:-)
Soon afterward powerful surveillance cameras and infrared detectors were installed; you can be sure I was noticed today...

La Garrotxa, Girona, España.
La Garrotxa, es una comarca prepirenaica catalana que se encuentra en la provincia de Girona (España) y limita con las comarcas del Ripollés, Osona, la Selva, el Gironés, el Pla de l'Estany, l'Alt Empordà y el Vallespir (departamento de Pirineos Orientales, Francia).
El espacio natural de la Alta Garrotxa presenta un paisaje abrupto, de estrechos y profundos valles rodeados de altos riscos y paredes de roca. En cambio, la Baja Garrotxa es suave y húmeda, los valles son llanos por efecto de la actividad volcánica y ello ha propiciado el desarrollo de las poblaciones más importantes de la comarca, siendo Olot su capital.
El parque natural de la Zona Volcánica de La Garrotxa es el mejor ejemplo de paisaje volcánico de la península ibérica y uno de los más importantes de Europa. En 1982 fue declarado Paraje Natural de Interés Nacional con áreas de Reservas Integrales de Interés Geobotánico. El Parque se extiende sobre unas 12.000 hectáreas, dentro de las cuales se han contabilizado treinta y ocho conos volcánicos; el territorio es de media montaña, y se extiende desde los 200 m de altura de Castellfollit de la Roca hasta los 1100 m del Puigsallança, punto culminante de la sierra de Finestres.
La Garroctxa es tierra de naturaleza, la variedad de vegetación y fauna es extraordinaria. El elevado índice de pluviosidad, la variedad de substratos y las diferencias de altitud y orientación de las sierras son motivos para que en un espacio tan pequeño pueda encontrarse desde la vegetación mediterránea más típica hasta la vegetación de tipo centroeuropeo o de tendencia atlántica.
La comarca presenta además un patrimonio cultural de incalculable valor: pueblos medievales, ermitas románicas, calzada romana del Capsacosta, etc.
La Garrotxa, is a Catalan pre-Pyrenean region that is located in the province of Girona (Spain) and borders the regions of Ripollés, Osona, la Selva, Gironés, Pla de l'Estany, l'Alt Empordà and Vallespir ( Pyrenees-Orientales department, France).
The Alta Garrotxa natural space presents an abrupt landscape, with narrow and deep valleys surrounded by high cliffs and rock walls. On the other hand, Baja Garrotxa is soft and humid, the valleys are flat due to the effect of volcanic activity and this has led to the development of the most important populations in the region, with Olot being its capital.
The natural park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa is the best example of volcanic landscape on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the most important in Europe. In 1982 it was declared a Natural Site of National Interest with areas of Integral Reserves of Geobotanical Interest. The Park extends over some 12,000 hectares, within which thirty-eight volcanic cones have been counted; the territory is medium mountain, and extends from the 200 m high of Castellfollit de la Roca to the 1100 m of Puigsallança, the highest point of the Finestres mountain range.
La Garroctxa is a land of nature, the variety of vegetation and fauna is extraordinary. The high rate of rainfall, the variety of substrates and the differences in altitude and orientation of the mountains are reasons why in such a small space can be found from the most typical Mediterranean vegetation to the vegetation of the Central European type or Atlantic trend.
The region also has a cultural heritage of incalculable value: medieval towns, Romanesque hermitages, the Roman road of Capsacosta, etc.

Very often I take a photo with an image in my head. That sounds stupid I’m looking at the damn picture through the view finder, but what I mean is I have an image in my minds eye of what I want that photo to become. More often than not I fall short of my expectations. Usually the reason for this is that I’m following an ideal of something I’ve seen before, where is not important but it’s in my head, whatever the catalyst from the scene in front of me it was to far from that ideal that all the processing in the world was not going to get to where I was trying to go. So I end up experimenting to achieve a satisfactory compromise and I move on. However with this photo I feel I hit the nail on the head. Starting with taking the photo I took several interpretations over a few days, different lighting, including the sky or not and different focal lengths. Apart from the right light the focal length was really important as it needed a long one to compress the curve in path so it stood out, this in turn discounted the sky. So by now you’ve gathered I’m happy with this image, for now, If you have made it to here I would be interested to know if you can spot any influences in this image.
There are many reasons to go to the rural parts of Britain for a holiday, but beauty, peace and wonderful days out might be the most important.
I have far too many photos from our UK holiday in 2018, so I thought I would do what we all fear most of all, make a lovely collection of my holidaysnaps to show you.
But it was too many, so this is just a few glimpses to things we did in Lake District that I haven't alreaddy posted.
The main photo is from Eskdale. Eskdale is a glacial valley and civil parish in the western Lake District National Park, west of the Hardknott Pass. We are heading for the tiny village of Boot.

For whatever reason, I found myself in Chattanooga a few nights ago. I haven't done many night shots for quite awhile and the Walnut Street Walking Bridge in downtown Chattanooga is a great place to do it.
This is a sidewalk just beneath the bridge. I was heading back to my car when I noticed the switchback pattern and the wavy lines on the left. It just struck me as a cool scene.
Have you ever in your Life Encountered a Scene that you just thought was unreal or felt Dream Like? ---- One of those scenes that if you talked to your friends about it they just wouldn't understand, A Scene you wish you only had a Picture of to show the Sheer Power and the Beauty off! ---- Well this is my Example of one of those Scenes! ---- At this Moment you could feel the positivity in the Day, the Power of the Waves crashing into the Rocks fueled the power inside of me, the Light was feeding my sense of Hope and Happiness for Life! ---- This is why i have named this image "The Reason"
