Took advantage of an unusually "sunny" and gorgeous day in the Northwest to snow-shoe on Mt. Rainier. This is one of the breathtaking scenes I experienced. Nice timing the forecast is for up to 4ft of snow this weekend, holy smokes Batman ...... And southern Puget Sound cities will get up to 20 inches.

The Panamint Range, as seen from Zabriskie Point, runs north-south for approximately 100 miles forming the western wall of Death Valley. We were fortunate to get such interesting weather during our brief trip to Death Valley National Park.

Elder Range in the Flinders Rangers is located in east South Australia a distance of about 360km north from Adelaide. At about 887m above sea level, Elder Range is one of the higher localities in South Australia as viewed from Rawnsley Park south of Wilpena Pound. Approaching the southern end of The Long Range, where the waters leave the Upper Lake and flow north into Muckross Lake.

"The Long Range can be described as either a wide river or a skinny lake, and it connects Muckross Lake and Lough Leane with the Upper Lake in Killarney. Flowing between the Eagle's Nest mountain and the Ring of Kerry road, it's a fine sight at any time."

John Muir's name for the Sierra Nevada certainly also fits the southern Andes. This was taken outside of El Chalten, Argentina looking across Lago Viedma at South America's largest mountain range.

Snowy Range, Wyoming - August 2015

I found this composition in the backcountry of the Snowy Range a few years ago, but I had to return this summer with better skies. This unnamed peak almost glows in the predawn light of late summer, and this particular pond reflects the scene perfectly. There's literally hundreds of lakes in this small mountain range which leaves a lot more exploring to do!

Andalusia is located in southern Spain and covers an area of 8 provinces. Andalusia is the second largest autonomous region in Spain. Beautiful Andalucía, the land of olives, oranges, sunflowers, beautiful mountain ranges and valleys, nice white mountain villages with beautiful squares, is a bridge between two continents, Africa and Europe, and is the point where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. There is something for everyone in Andalusia, from culture to beautiful terraces, sights, long beaches, beautiful inland areas with beautiful reservoirs, mountains and nice villages to visit. The El Chorro Gorge is a beautiful place near Peñarrubia, with gigantic cliffs as high as 400 meters with a length of 3 kilometers. The Caminito del Rey was built around 1900 and was used to transport people and material between two factories that were on both sides of the El Chorro gorge. However, it took many years before the path was officially opened. The path hangs along the edges of the entire gorge. The total distance of the new Caminito del Rey is 7.7 kilometers. A beautiful walking tour that you have to book in advance online.

After the long and narrow Largo tunnel Kanitha continues her path to the start of the Caminito del Rey trail. Whether you come to El Chorro for the Caminito or not, this beautiful area is worth a visit in itself. You are in direct contact with nature and you can forget the world. Because the path is relatively easy to walk, it does not only attract active people or adventurers, but also people with an interest in historical stories. The total distance of the new Caminito del Rey is 7.7 kilometers. Buses will bring you back to the starting point.

On the edge of the Basin and Range a lonesome empty grainer rumbles north through the sagebrush and pines that cover the far northern regions of California. With no southbounds opposing them the entire way up and being around forty miles from the Oregon border, it was smooth sailing for the crew through this mostly desolate region. Just like here at Erickson, most places on the map around these parts are railroad tracks and the highways, or it’s just a dirt road. Within a couple of hours the crew would tie down the train in Klamath Falls and get some rest before having to do this all over again.

Another image capture and of my first attempts at working with the built-in function for HDR type images in my Nikon D800E. Having remembered the need to stand as still as I could (no tripod with me) I was able to minimize the movement of tree leaves...even as my body moved as so slightly. Anywho, I then worked with color control points and a few CEP filters (Low Key, Polarization and Darken/Lighten Center) in Capture NX2 for the final image.

It's been a long time since I've posted a photo that isn't portrait in orientation. In truth I shoot pretty much only in portrait these days, but on occasion I like to take a panorama. This one was shot back in April during the last throes of winter. An incredible cold night wild camping on Y Foel Goch.

Anyway, thought you might enjoy it.

The Dyke, a colorful ridge, is the southern terminus of the Ruby Range in western Colorado. A fortuitous mixture of clones of quaking aspen complements the attractive cliffs.

This square, wooden tower use to be the front range light starting in 1915 and was relocated in the 1980s. The new site for the retired lighthouse is a rest area overlooking the St. Lawrence River at the western entrance to the village of Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent. In 2013, it had a complete renovation. The lighthouse appears on the municipality’s emblem.

An Icelandic panorama. This shot of a distant mountain range and glaciers was taken from Gullfoss waterfall, I'm not sure of their name though. I've stitched 3 shots together for this panorama.

Another of the amazing scenes that abound in my home state of South Australia - late afternoon sun provides a kaleidoscope of colours and ever changing shadows :)

"For Queen and Country"

I doubt I've ever seen one of these in real life. The newer models are plentiful on the highways and in the city, but it's the Classic that is the really iconic one, in my opinion.

I've seen very few people attempt this in 6-wide scale, and I found out why. It took me HOURS to come up with a good solution for the nose, but I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Update: 2 days after posting this, I did get to see one in real life. It looked awesome.
