Now here's a picture that I know is going to polarise opinion.
It's the manifest in the previous picture, restarting from a signal check in one of the most wonderful places in the world, Caliente.
It's not so far from sundown, the last rays backlighting the clag to wonderful effect. All good so far.
But, I hear you ask, what is all that blotchy circley stuff? Well, they are 10 trillion billion greenflies. Bugs to you Americans. They are everywhere, they're fast moving and they are almost creating their own haze. I have no idea where they came from, or why. But they've caused an effect that we'll call interesting. Yes, that's good, interesting.
An enhancement or a ruination? Hit or miss? Your thoughts are, as ever, most welcome. Over to you...

symbols of quitting; retirement; letting go; hang'em up
if lessons are to be learned from this... always keep those passions close at heart
for genuine passions will eventually resurface... someday
An old fishing boat of ancient design is seen off the coast of Stone Town, Zanzibar. The two occupants and their predecessors have no doubt fished these waters for many a generation. Meanwhile in the background, the modern day needs of the island are catered for through the use of small container ships.

This is a "blast off" at Ft. Desoto North Beach from several years ago. The area where this occurred is now roped off but was public access until a couple of years ago. Common terns stop by the thousands during their migration and seem to spontaneously erupt into flight such as this. I see many different types of gulls, terns and shorebirds taking part in these flights. In this group there are a few least terns, some sandwich terns and some Forster's terns plus the common terns. Some of the blastoffs include large numbers of skimmers but I do not see any in this photo.

Even if ewe didn't do it on porpoise, please quit your lion! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
Punning humor from a 1910 postcard with an illustration of a lion (which itself is lyin' or reclining) that substitutes for the word lyin' (as in fibbing).
... but very close here. The angle of light, the tree overhanging the scene, and the alignment of the island cone out there in Crater Lake I think all came together nicely here. This one really caught my eye as well as I walked along the rim.
AN ode to the women athletes competing from India....with very little Government support, shaky infrastructure and unsupportive social norms
Walking the street / no dog was seen / no people either. // Just the sound of two pigeons / told me about life.
