One quirk about the A stock was that it was the only London Underground rolling stock to be designed internally to 'main line' train specification with very comfortable 3+2 transverse seating facing the direction of travel as well as being fitted with overhead briefcase/umbrella racks, just the thing to carry the seasoned commuters from leafy Buckinghamshire into central London. Another interesting quirk about the A stock was that in its later years following its refurbishment in the early 1990s the trains were not fitted with onboard voice announcements.
C17 Nº 994 takes water and has her fire cleaned at Murphy’s Creek on 5th October 1969. On completion of those tasks, the train will draw forward to allow C17 Nº 705 access to the facilities.

The Flag and Bell Man leads B18¼ Nº 227, PB15 Nº 747, D17 Nº 262 and PB15 Nº 340 across Stanley St Wooloongabba on the afternoon of 22nd September 1967. The engines are bound for South Brisbane to work afternoon suburban trains. The people in the foreground are standing in the Safety Zone waiting for a Balmoral bound tram.
DEL1312 leads two other members of her class away from Gladstone with an empty coal train bound for Moura at dusk on 27th January 1969. The photograph was taken from a train travelling in the opposite direction.
Barcaldine 1606 54Up Midlander - 10.72 DEL 1606 accelerates 54Up Midlander Mail away from Barcaldine in October 1972. The Down Home signal for Aramac Junction is at the rear of the train.
