Quick one for Macro Mondays, didn't have much time this week. Obviously, alphabet spaghetti which contain no numbers, so had to resort to cake decorations for the numbers. A revolting combination ...

An unexpected afternoon off from work resulted in this quick left-over killer.

I saw something drop out of the bush and it was little Wren down for a bath ... ☺

A matter of seconds...

I have been patiently waiting to get a decent photo of a Drake Mallard. Nice to have a good looking guy almost dropping in my lap. The photo was quickly taken out of the car window.

Quick post, but I feel that less is more with this dress. It holds it's own. Enjoy dolls!

The magpies, 7 of them, took advantage of an easy meal this morning. We've had our first snowfall. About 4 inches blanket the ground,

Quick story about Iguana. Many moons ago I accompanied my son and a few of his 7th grade classmates to Guyana. We were in the Amazon forest being cared for by a very nice woman and a woodsman who would lead us to find snakes and other critters in the forest. The woman asked me if I would like Iguana for dinner and I said “Sure, I’ll try it.” She brought some to the camp, which had no electricity or refrigeration of any type. The Iguana were on the ground with their legs were tied behind their back. I asked our caretaker if the meat would spoil if it wasn’t cooked that day. She laughed and informed me that they Iguana were very much alive and would keep for days. The kids heard that and next thing I knew the Iguana were set free. I can honestly say I was not disappointed.

With that diversion aside, this guy was changing positions in the snag at Green Cay and gave me this interesting pose in the strong morning light. (Green Iguana with a most creative scientific name: Iguana iguana) (Sony a1, 400mm, f/2.8, 1/1600 second, ISO 640)

One of the feature attraction when you visit this place, is the diver, who will perform this feast for you for a small fee. Make sure that you have your camera focused and ready to take many quick shots! It is interesting to see the technique of this diver to control where and how to land at the right spot.

This image was made by merging about 30+ shots, some of which were to construct the sequence of the diver, and then merged the final one with another panorama image of this scene.

I thought the Sandias looked a little pretty on the way home from work.

Sandia Reservation.

Mr Crissy was marching towards the food, trying not to get blown sideways, it was sunny and pretty windy today. If you zoom in you can also see him with a nice big smile.

Does a landscape image tell a story? I have been grappling with this concept lately because I think it can. Or rather, before snapping the shutter, I like to break it down into three steps. First, try to find something that is interesting. Second, think of a story to tell about that item. Third, utilize the elements of composition that best contribute to that narrative. Otherwise, what are you trying to convey?

Or perhaps it is like the Cheshire Cat who says "if you do not know where you are going, any road will get you there". Which is to say, if you continue to work hard, you will eventually succeed. Instead, why not plan the image, in place of "hoping" to find the road that leads to the final destination.

In this image, with the incredible clouds on the horizon, this sage appeared to be hiding in its own brush. Hence, a story or narrative to follow. That told me where to put my tripod, the height needed for the camera, and what lens to use. And finally, the elements needed in the shot.

I learned that a tripod gets cold really quick and that you should wear gloves in the early morning hours.... The first image from my trip this week to Yosemite.

Quick shot with my phone whilst making coffee during a break from my work desk at home. A rare shaft of sunlight - I couldn’t resist doing something with it.

A quick phone snap as we were passing today. I'll replace it when I have remembered to bring my main camera with me. Later: now replaced!

This is St Michael's Church at the tiny village of Haselbech in Northamptonshire. It is Grade II*-listed and parts of it date from the 13th and 14th centuries. The beautiful west tower dates from around 1500. I always find it remarkable how so many relatively small English villages have beautiful medieval churches. The villages were clearly very much bigger in medieval times, and in the case of Haselbech this is confirmed at:
