Great Tit [Parus Major]

A lovely afternoon brought literally hundreds of wee birdies to my feeders at The Pixies.

This Great Tit waited on a branch for a few seconds, before darting down to get a peanut. Sometimes, they will sit and eat sunflower hearts but normally they just swoop in, take a nut, and fly off, then come back and repeat the procedure. Apparently, they stash their food for later.

Boy, let me tell you! You had to be quick to get a shot of this little Winter Wren. It barley stopped to get a shot. Spent almost an hour with it. Bucks County PA.

Raw shot at our cemetery.

The Canadian Rockies are world renowned for their rich turquoise-colored lakes. The rich color is created by the density of rock flour suspended in the water.

That day we hiked the relatively easy and short Valley of the Five Lakes Trail in Jasper National Park, immersed ourselves into nature and saw five beautiful glaciated lakes up close.

Picture was taken at the Third Lake, where a set of the iconic red Adirondack chairs of the Canadian National Parks system were perched on the edge of the lake.

As luck would have it, as soon as we arrived, two men took up seats. It was a hot day so one even took his shirt off and hung it on the back of the chair. I lingered around for 15 minutes at least, hoping they would leave but they showed no sign to. As I was about to give up hope, they left the chairs and stood next to the tree with the shirt remaining dangling on the back of the chair. They were admiring the lake, so I quickly walked up, brushed his shirt down to the chair, snapped a quick closeup photo, and walked away quickly. I wonder if the man ever questioned why his shirt fell down!😁😁😁

I recognize the composition is not ideal but I am happy I got my shot!

On a different note, we finally arrived home late last night, after making a 9,787 miles (115,897 km) road trip. I can tell you that I sure missed my King size bed!☺️

Thank you for your visit and please enjoy the rest of the weekend!

This Yellow Rumped Myrtle warbler stopped in a branch near me. I always enjoy the bright colors of these birds.

A quick one from the phone, on the way back from countryside live.

A quick snapshot of the Dragon taken when I was working and he was resting on a scratchpost nearby. Autumn and Mondays clearly wear him out ! The blue sky outside our window only lasted a few minutes, not really long enough to convince the Dragon to interrupt his power nap.

My Blog

Spotted Towhee (Pipilo maculatus)

I find them such striking birds, and I know in a few weeks they will be gone. I estimate about 15 wintered on my property.

“A large sparrow with a thick, pointed bill, short neck, chunky body, and long, rounded tail…. Spotted Towhees hop over the ground beneath dense tangles of shrubs, scratching in leaf litter for food. They also climb into lower branches to search for insects and fruits, or to deliver their quick, buzzy song. Towhees can fly long distances, but more often make short, slow flights between patches of cover…. Look for Spotted Towhees in open, shrubby habitat with thick undergrowth. Spotted Towhees are also at home in backyards, forest edges, and overgrown fields….. Early in the breeding season, male Spotted Towhees spend their mornings singing their hearts out, trying to attract a mate. Male towhees have been recorded spending 70 percent to 90 percent of their mornings singing. Almost as soon as they attract a mate, their attention shifts to other things, and they spend only about 5 percent of their time singing.”

The toucans quickly became my favorite bird to photograph, especially the Keel-billed Toucan. They were highest on my wish list and this was fulfilled just after we arrived at our lodge. They flew in often and I couldn't get enough of them.

This will be my last post for awhile as I will be off Flickr. Wishing everyone fabulous photo ops!

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.

"Quick Mom, before they catch us!"

Rather odd activity spotted at Waterton's Red Rock Canyon parking lot. This bighorn sheep lamb appears to be on the alert for the van's owner while Mama checks out it's rear end. The very courteous Warden (i.e. Ranger, thanks James) said this is actually a real nuisance: the sheep lick the chemicals off the outsides of the catalytic converters, particularly looking for any salts. Problem is they sometimes get their horns stuck while doing so, which is dangerous for both the animal and vehicle. The Rangers have to gently untangle them while the sheep panics and thrashes around. This can be dangerous for the Wardens as well.

She did get out by herself, wasn't harmed.

The lamb seemed relieved and appreciated having her attention again.

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

I wanted to make a picture of this awesome skin from Avarosa - Tae (Peach) ♥ I really love their skins and always recommend them, because Avarosa is the best creator of SL skins! This is my lovely thanks to them, that I won this skin, and one day I hope, they will open Blogotex. I wish to be part of the blogger team! 🙏

I would also like to highlight the Wings store, which recently released a new hair (ES0305). And if you would also like to know where the denim jacket is from, it is from the Gagui store!

Thank you and stay healthy! ♥

A common woodland resident.

... I've photographed this old ruined pier many times, but not like this. The sea mist came in very quickly today but when it lifted it was a gloriously sunny winter's day

This was the friendliest gopher snake in the world. I started out with my 600mm lens but then when it let me get too close for that I switched to my iPhone. They're usually pretty aggressive so I kept my distance but it seemed curious about me and actually slithered toward me. I put my hand flat on the ground and it eventually crawled right into my hand. That's definitely a first for me with a gopher snake. It was about 4 feet long so didn't all fit in my hand but quickly found its way up my arm.

During mating season, the Australian magpie can become aggressive and attack humans crossing its territory. Fortunately for this man, this swooping macaw was friendly and just wanted to perch on his owners hand.
