this was taken, I believe, on the third of september.
the reason I love this photograph so much is that the sky looked like this for less than two minutes. I saw it and whipped out my camera and by the time I was finished shooting, the pinks and purples had disappeared.
this photo makes me miss my window at home and that view. I can't wait to spend a long weekend at home with my parents and my dogs.
taken with my nikon d40.

A quick build for round 2 of Iron Forge. Seed parts are used throughout the furniture and the window. I think total of 18. I ran out of tiles, so the floor is all kinds of mismatched.
Quick iPhone pics of finished hats so far.
I will take individual pics later with more details and descriptions.
Re-enactor photographed in the uniform of the Reconnaissance Corps which was a corps of the British Army - formed during the Second World War in 1941 and provided reconnaissance for infantry divisions. After the war finished the corps were disbanded in 1946 and such duties reverted to regular armoured units of the RAC, (Royal Armoured Corps).

An order from LEGO came in, so I finished the engine bay entirely. The chassis drives, steers, and the active aero mechanism is fully functional. Also, shortly after I took these pictures, I did the pneumatic tubing for the top shock absorber, and it works just as intended. I'm considering limiting the travel of the suspension so the ride height is slightly lower, which will let me pressurize the top shock even more (for proper anti-squat).
Further progress will come after a week and a half. I'll be going on a short vacation, after which I will be working hard on the Koenigsegg project and placing a few last-minute Bricklink orders. Definitely will be livestreaming the completion of the car, and I'll announce the dates and times for those next week!
Shot at f5.6
Quick update as more gear is still on the way.
Let's talk about the Carl Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2.4 first. Think it started after reviewing photos from Pentacon 29mm f2.8 on A7RII. Hence, came the mamiya sekor 28mm f2.8. Then realised that I have shot it at wide aperture so the corner bluntness is expected. However, the M42 Mamiya sekor lens looks classy. Metal front and rear caps is the first for me. And it costs almost the same as the Pentacon wide angle if not less. Anyway, that haste decision results in an another M42 wide angle lens.
So, to remedy, I think of getting something special. A lens that is talked much about online and hopefully worth the money spent. I have been avoiding the 35mm all these while as I prefer wider and anything that I can shoot with 1/30 under all conditions. Fortunately, there's a deal appeared on EBay and I grabbed. It's not top notched condition but it's very reasonable for the money spent.
Actually, it's during the same search, I discovered about the 20mm Flektogon (both f2.8 and f4). They are just too expensive. I looked for alternatives like Takumar but it's not 2.8. Then, came the Rokkors. MC 21mm or MD 20mm at 2.8. Mixed reviews for both. I feel 20mm or 21mm is special because I haven't used this focal length before though I did use in EF UWA and Tokina UWA zooms before. For 20mm prime, it will be the first. I have a feeling it would like be like the EF 20mm f2.8 which I thought of getting before when I was using Canon setup. In short, found a reasonable deal (it's my most expensive Minolta lens) and acquired the MD 20mm f2.8.
After the Super Fujica Six started to have white patch issue, I found a replacement in Konica Pearl III. It's 6x4.5 (actually that's the reason why I get it, to have more frames for each roll). Then, the 6x6 square format floats in my mind from time to time. So I decided to look for 6x6 alternatives. Found Pentacon Six, then Hasselblad 500cm and finally, Rolleiflex TLR. The TLR idea seems more appealing. While watching YouTube one day, I came across Airesflex TLR. So far, I have a couple of good recommendations (Minolta V2 and Super Fujica Six) from the channel Japan Vintage Camera. Researched more on the Airesflex then found an unique 10 blades model in EBay but shutter speed is up to 1/200 or 1/300. From the same seller, I found another TLR from Minoltaflex with 10 blade as well, but shutter speed up to 1/500 and at a lower price. So, that seals the deal since I am just looking for a TLR to try out. I feel that they all look almost the same from the outside. Unless I am really into this type of film camera then I may consider more expensive ones.
Lastly, for the Yashica FX-3 Super, it's at the end of the search of Zeiss technology. I don't have a piece from Yashica as well. Previously, I was still fixated at M42 setup but I felt I might have "over" acquired them (still expecting Fujica ST705 with my 2nd Fujinon 55mm f1.8 to arrrive). Saw the possibility of using Zeiss lens in Pentacon Six, then Hasselblad 500cm and in some Rolleiflex. But skip them once decided on Minoltaflex. Then, came Contax Zeiss. Once I am open to the idea of this 4th different film system, I started looking for a mechanical SLR. Contax S2 or S2b would be nice but too "loud" to my dislike. Luckily, Yashica has a few options to offer. Once I have secured this SLR, I began looking for the Contax Zeiss lens and so far, I have ordered the 28mm f2.8 MMJ version and 60mm f2.8 AEG version. I am still thinking about the last lens for the year. But hopefully after this, gear acquistion should come to a stop.
Quick shot off the 295 corridor exit ramp at Forest Ave in Portland, Maine, I didn't want to get rear ended!
Came across this pebble whilst doing a spot of gardening, it was crying out for a face. So, here’s Alan - in need of his roots doing!!
Flickr friend Theresa getting the quick draw on me for a BNSF stack train that snuck up on us at McGirr Rd between Steward and Lee, IL. I could not get my camera out of the bag quick enough and barely got 3 shots off while standing at the car's door. This train screamed by us enroute to Rochelle just a few miles NW of this location.

A quick trip into Nottingham gave me the opportunity to see if I could add to my stranger count. It wasn’t long before my eye was caught by a colourful outfit of a young lady walking in the same direction as me, but on the other side of the paved area we were on. It only took a few moments for me to cross over to Sarah and introduce the project to her.
As the sun was out I knew it would cast dark shadows across her eyes from her hat so I suggested we go down a side street that was in the shade, the softer light making it easy to take Sarah’s portrait without having to worry about her eyes disappearing into darkness. A faded red door served as a perfect backdrop.
Sarah told me she was from Nottingham and had just been for a contact lens appointment and was now shopping for some black clothing as she was attending a funeral the day after I photographed her. Sarah said shopping for a black outfit wasn’t her favourite task as she preferred coloured outfits.
Sarah is self-employed, selling ethical clothing and jewellery and if I remember right all the items she is wearing in my picture are examples of her stock. You can find out more here: adorneduk.co.uk/
Sarah told me she is learning to play the drums and mentioned it was an electronic kit. Her preferred taste in music is the rock and alternative scene so it came as no surprise when I asked who her first star crush had been on that she named rock star Kurt Cobain, the singer from Nirvana. She then said she was heartbroken to discover he was already dead by the time she discovered him.
The one thing Sarah can’t live without? Peanut butter.
What advice would Sarah give to her younger-self? Don’t just dive in and get that first tattoo, take time to find an artist whose work you like and get them to do it.
Thank-you Sarah for allowing me to interrupt your day and for saying yes to me photographing you for my stranger project. I hope you like your portrait.
This picture is #165 in the 100 Strangers project, yes, I’m doing a second 100. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

"Quick! Shut the door!" (TRUE MEN STORIES, March 1961.) This cover features one of the many great cover paintings done by Wilbur Hulsey (a.k.a. Wil or Will Hulsey). He created the iconic "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" cover. See more Hulsey artwork and info about him here - www.menspulpmags.com/2011/03/weasels-ripped-my-flesh-from...
Just a quickie for when you don't feel like cooking a lot.
Mix 1 and 1/2 cups of bottled salsa verde with a cup of vaccuum-packed corn kernels, 1/3 cup diced red onion and 1/4 cup chopped cilantro. Set the salsa aside.
Dice a pound of boneless skinless chicken breast into very small pieces and coat with 1 teaspoon cumin, 2 teaspoons chili powder and salt and pepper to taste. In a skillet cook a couple cloves of garlic and 3/4 cup of diced red pepper in olive oil until soft and translucent. Add the chicken and cook through. Set the chicken aside.
Warm 6-8 burrito-sized tortillas until they are soft and flexible. Put a layer of shredded cheddar cheese, chicken, chopped cilantro, a second layer of cheese on half of each tortilla. Fold over in half. Place each tortilla on a hot, oiled griddle pan until nicely browned/crisp on the outside, and the inside is melty.
Cut into wedges and serve with sour cream and tomatillo salsa.
They are wearing smocks over their uniforms to prevent spillage from art related activities.
When I saw them runnning towards me I quickly crouched down to their level and started shooting away. This was the best of many.
