On March 21rst and 22nd occurred on the premises of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University’s Library, a Pre-Texts workshop leading by the Pre-Texts Group UJTL, with students from different careers. During the 3 sessions, the Pre-Texts protocol was followed and the participants found the methodology different and enjoyable. They said that Pre-Texts is a very interesting method to explore new ways of reading, and the activity allowed them to put in question the way they use to behave in the Library. The participants didn’t knew the Pre-Texts methodology, but as they were invited personally they had a lot of expectations and curiosity, both that were satisfied at the end, encountering the experience as captivating and effective.

The weather looked good for Friday, and I wanted to get away for a few hours, but where to go. That was the question! But as usual, that (or those) answer would almost grow organically. First I needed to pick up some computer “thumb” drives at B&H photo, which is next door to Penn Station, I’d save on the shipping by picking them up! And then what, a look at Google maps of Manhattan and there was the Morgan Library and Museum on Madison Avenue and E37th St. I’d walked past it several hundred times over the years on my daily trek from Penn Station to Grand Central to get to my office. And as they say, curiosity needs to be feed! And after that, find lunch and figure out the rest as I went along.
The Morgan Library and Museum, is the former home of Pierpont Morgan, a “very” wealthy finance family, and whose fame still lives on, with the JPMorgan Chase firm, along with their new 61 story skyscraper at E47th St and Park Avenue. It is indeed and interesting place to visit. There are several rooms (galleries) displaying various art exhibits, but what I found most interesting was the spectacular library collection and his former study. Morgan was an avid collector of books, some dating back hundreds of years. The East Room is the library which is almost two stories high lined with multiple levels of finely bound (in leather and gold) books. There were hundreds of bibles, on the shelves some using the old English spelling “Byble”.
After leaving the museum a stop for lunch was made. Followed by a quick visit to Grand Central Terminal, where I once worked. Then a few blocks north to view the new Morgan Chase skyscraper on Madison Ave. Since I was only a few blocks away, why not visit Rockefeller Center once more, and then over to Times Square, for a view of the “lonney”, and colorful side of life (actually the “Crossroads of the Country”) and then back to Penn Station

Let's have a look at the MCM affair. The university grants Rs. 35 lakh p/a only for MCM, but for the .
-. present Rs. 900 hundred p/m MCM the university spend Rs.80 la.kh p/a. So the university is diverting funds from other sources to MCM every year to meet the demand. Now if it extended to the entire M.Phil!Ph.D students the ,.~. requirement may raise to Rs. 1.8 crore p/a (approximately). Then with the absence of UGC grant, which is not coming, the university required more diversion of funds from other necessary projects. M.Phil/Ph.D. may not be implemented considering the fact that it requires 100% grant from the UGC (as per the agreement signed by the JNUSU and JNU Administration), and the UGC is in no mood to give its approval. So the onus is with the UGC. Contrary to this fact the left parties organized strikes in front ofthe JNU Administration for more than a week and made a 30 minute demonstration at the UGC. The Youth For Equality has filed an Right to Information Act,(2005) at the JNU Administration to seek details of the election eve demand of the left parties during the last 10 years and its fulfillment, if any, and expecting shortly its answer.
