HmMmMm.. Questionable?!?

What to do if you have two ice-creams?!!

‘What did you do over the summer holidays?’ For some kids this can be a tough question but here’s the chance to grab a golden ticket and fly a plane for free.

In a money can’t buy Willy Wonka-style competition - where you don’t even have to shell out on chocolate bars - easyJet is offering complimentary places at flight school for 7-12 year-olds.

If you know any tiny aviation fans who would like to swap making paper planes for a stint in the cockpit, then sign up now.

Airline easyJet has today announced it is launching a new ‘Summer Flight School’, designed to inspire more young people to consider a career in aviation.

Children and their parents are invited to go behind the scenes at easyJet’s state of the art training centre and experience exciting hands-on pilot and cabin crew training hosted by real pilots and crew.

Following research that found nearly two fifths (37%) of primary school children believe flying a plane is a job exclusively for men, the initiative hopes to combat career stereotypes.

The first-of-its-kind event by the airline will offer children the opportunity to take the controls of an Airbus A320 flight simulator and learn what it takes to provide the best inflight service to passengers as Cabin Crew. Children will also be able to quiz easyJet pilots, including female captain, Kate McWilliams about how to become high-fliers.

easyJet has launched the initiative after a poll of 2,000 British parents and their children found that two thirds (66%) of British parents still believe there are misconceptions that being a pilot is a job for men rather than women and that most parents (86%) believe that gender stereotypes of jobs start at primary school age.

Around three quarters (72%) of female adult respondents said that when they were a child, they believed only men could be pilots, while nearly two thirds of men (63%) said they never considered a role as cabin crew due to their gender.

Now, over two thirds (68%) of girls surveyed said that they believed both boys and girls could be a pilot, indicating a positive shift in attitudes compared to the previous generation.

However, with over a quarter of boys (28%) still believing that cabin crew is exclusively a job for women and the same proportion of girls believing being a pilot a job for just boys, there is still clearly work to be done to course correct these perceptions.

Summer Flight School is the latest initiative from easyJet as part of the airline’s ongoing work to drive greater diversity within areas in the industry that still face a significant gender imbalance, particularly for pilots and cabin crew.

With still around only 6% of pilots worldwide being women, easyJet has been focused on tackling this industry-wide gender imbalance for a number of years and has nearly tripled the number of female pilots in its ranks since 2015.

Over half of children (51%) said they never seen a female pilot and so alongside recruitment campaigns to attract more women and people from diverse backgrounds to the career, the airline’s Pilot School Visits programme has seen female and male pilots presenting to hundreds of schools up and down the country, to show it’s a job for everyone.

By providing a unique and immersive free experience blending fun, education, and hands-on activities, the airline hopes its ‘Summer Flight School’ will not only inspire a new generation of aviators, but also help the 87% of parents who said they struggle to find low cost or free experiences for children during the holidays.

Over 92% parents believe ‘edutainment’ – activities that provide the opportunity for their kids to learn something new, as well as being fun - is important when it comes to planning a family day out, with over half (54%) specifically wanting something that would spark a new interest for their children.

The majority of primary school aged children agreed that the chance fly a plane was the most exciting thing they could experience during the summer holidays (70%) whilst half (50%) admitted being a pilot or cabin crew when they were older would be a dream job.

Jane Storm, Chief People Officer for easyJet said the airline was leading the industry in tackling diversity:‘We’re delighted to be taking families behind the scenes with our new Summer Flight School, not only to offer a unique and exciting day out during the school holidays, but also one we hope will inspire the next generation of pilots and cabin crew and show young people that their aspirations don’t have to be limited by outdated stereotypes, and help broaden their horizons.

‘Increasing diversity in all of its forms across our airline and creating an inclusive environment where people can be themselves at work is incredibly important to us and is a long-term focus for easyJet, so we will continue to lead the industry on this issue.”

easyJet Training Captain Kate West said“At school I was told that being a pilot wasn’t a suitable career option for me, so I know from first-hand experience how important it is to challenge these misconceptions, which we know can start from a young age. Role models and awareness of our jobs as pilots and crew are such an important part of this and so I’m delighted that our Summer School will give children that opportunity this summer - even their first taste of flying an aircraft!”

easyJet’s Summer Flight School takes off from 21stAugust at easyJet’s London Gatwick training centre. Places are available to book for free from Monday 7thAugust at easyjet.eventbrite.com.

Max looking at me and wondering what I'm doing, how long this is going to take and when will he get a treat.

Success in fostering is more than getting a dog adopted. The rescue group greatly dictates how positive the experience is, and after a few trials and errors, we now understand that we want to feel that any group we foster for is also the best fit for our family. The rescues we volunteer with now must organized, legitimate non-profits, and have views and principals that align with our own. We've talked about some examples of not so great groups and we talked about our own follies with our first rescue group.  Now, before we ever sign up to volunteer again, I ask for a phone interview. The following is a list of questions that I have ready so that I can better understand the organization, and to weed out rescues that simply will not work.

Questions about the dogs:

-What type of dogs do you take in?-How many dogs does your group normally have?-Where do you typically get your dogs?-What are your normal intake procedures?-Do you conduct personality assessments prior to placement in foster care?-Do you have trainers or support for behavior problems?-What are your typical adoption fees?

Questions about medical care:

-Do you provide all medical care prior to placing in foster care?-Do you provide heartworm and flea preventative while in foster care?-Who is your vet?-Who is responsible for securing vet care and transport?-What are the procedures for emergency vet care?-Do you spay/neuter prior to placing in foster care?

Questions about fostering:

-Do you have a dedicated foster coordinator?-What do you provide fosters? Food? Collar & leash?-What are your expectations for foster parents?-In the event of travel or an incident is there a backup plan for dogs' care?-How long are dogs typically in foster care?

Questions about the rescue:

-Are you a state registered non-profit / 501(c)?-Do you have any paid staff?-What percentage of donations and fees go to dogs?-Do you have liability insurance?

Questions about outreach:

-Are you active in social media? -Do you hold events in the community?-Do you have adoption days? Who is responsible for transport?-Do you have a relationship with local animal controls?

Questions about adoption:

-Who is your typical adopter?-Are there any restrictions to people wanting to adopt?-Are fosters involved in the adoption process?-How far away do you adapt to?This is by no means the end all be all of lists, but it is a great start. Very quickly you'll be able to see any red flags or get a sense that the group could be just what you are looking for. I recently went through this whole process with our next prospective rescue, K9 Justice League, and I just felt so much better. Having a nice long talk with the group I found them to be open, friendly, and sincere in their desire to help dogs find perfect homes. Our next foster will be with them, and we cannot wait to be a part of their group. Choose the most obedient dogs if you are a first-time dog owner.

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus (The Stargate Mix)

Depeche Mode are an English electronic band that formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group consists of founders Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (guitar, keyboards, vocals, main songwriter since 1982), and Andy Fletcher (keyboards, bass guitar). Depeche Mode released their debut album Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Original band member Vince Clarke (keyboards, guitar, main songwriter from 1980 to 1981), left the band after the release of the album, leaving the band as a trio to record A Broken Frame, released the following year. Gore took over the lead songwriting duties and, later in 1982, Alan Wilder (keyboards, drums, bass guitar, occasional songwriter) officially joined the band to fill Clarke's spot, establishing a line up that would continue for the next 13 years. Depeche Mode have been a trio again since 1995, when Wilder left.

You pretty much have to question everything today and Grey sloan memorial hospital shirt. I tend to focus on the essentials food, clothing, etc. I would recommend giving gift cards to places that primarily sell food. Alcohol and cigarettes do not fall in my personal category of necessities. That’s not to say that I don’t give. My heart is to help those in need not enable those in want. It’s unfortunate that you can’t really trust people. And this why people are hesitant to help folks in need. Shame on them! This is what happens when people will believe and share anything without doing an ounce of research. Fools get scammed every day.

The number one question I get asked is: What did the other passengers say?

Answer: Absolutely nothing. They glanced at us once, then went back to their newspapers. Sydneysiders aggressively mind their own business.

Or maybe there are brides on the bus every weekend. Its a tough economy.
