There were many unanswered questions in this house: such as why these shoes were left behind. I confess I put them on the window sill where I could photograph them better.
My friend Doug Kirton has been asking me a lot of questions about taking photos of gardens, plants and mountains. Now I answered as best as I could, but decided that I needed a practice run. The sunrise just outside 5 Star Durban South Africa (land of SA-People - for South Africans in South Africa and expats) in Monteseel was bland to non-existent. However, the glory of the morning was still abound; another day to enjoy and give it another shot! The sun was trying desperately to rise behind my right shoulder. Well that was my practice so now I guess it's off to go shooting daisies with Doug

Beneath a sky fractured by shifting clouds, Lofoten’s peaks rise in jagged defiance, their edges etched against the dimming light like the script of an ancient, undeciphered language. Golden beams, sharp and fleeting, lance through the mist, not to illuminate but to sculpt—carving lines of impermanence into the rugged stone, as if the universe were writing an ode to its own imperfection.
The mountains do not stand; they loom, timeless yet restless, their forms whispering of upheaval and stillness in the same breath. Mist coils through the valleys, not as concealment, but as something alive, something uncertain—an interlude between revelation and obscurity. The scene feels less like a landscape and more like a question suspended in the air, unanswered and unanswerable, vibrating with quiet intensity.
This is no harmony, no serene moment of balance; it is a collision—a struggle between light and shadow, permanence and decay. The peaks are not guardians or monuments; they are the earth’s raw truth laid bare, fractured, unyielding, yet strangely vulnerable beneath the weight of the sky’s indifferent gaze. The light does not caress them—it strikes, refracts, vanishes, leaving no promise of return.
In this tableau, the boundaries of self dissolve. To behold it is to teeter on the edge of comprehension, caught between the transient and the eternal. The mountains seem less a part of the earth and more a rupture in it, a place where the world has torn itself open to reveal something both terrifying and profound: a reminder that existence is neither fixed nor fleeting but an ongoing act of becoming, always at the mercy of forces beyond understanding.

With a leather black dress like this.. the age-old question is: "Should I wear black or red heels with it?" 😉
To settle this question, I put up a voting poll in my Instagram Stories.
43% liked the outfit with black heels.. but more importantly: 57% preferred the red heels. Can't say I was surprised but I still love the black heels myself. It just makes my legs look soooo long!!
Check out the BLOG for photos with the black heels! 👆

Question?
Quel genre d'homme vais-je décider d'être ? A dix-neuf ans, c'est une question que l'on se pose. A trente-neuf, on dit : "Si seulement le destin n'avait pas fait de moi l'homme que je suis."

A question, sometimes, of being in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. Making photographs in a beautiful part of the world. In this case, the Bitterroot Valley and the Bitterroot River in Western Montana. And, as one of the Treasure State's nicknames states, fully enjoying "the last best place."
I have never used anything but Google Picasa since I have been into photography. Google has discontinued it an no longer supports it. I have searched many options and have found nothing that compares. I want something to store, organize, edit and e-mail pictures from. What do you use ?
My latest image from the backyard is the 'Cosmic Question Mark Nebula' in the constellation Cepheus.
This target includes a large, bright emission nebula (NGC 7822), with a nebulous 'point' at the bottom (Sharpless 170).
If you're in the northern hemisphere, Cepheus is full of photographic nebulae, including this monster.
I used an ultra-portable telescope setup for this one, a wide-field refractor and a one-shot-color astronomy camera.

I have two questions. Make that, three questions.
Where does God reside?
Are we unique?
Is Heaven partitioned by religion or, is there more than one Heaven, depending on which particular faith and worship you adhere to?
I don't have all the answers.

Habrá sido una señal para mí? La naturaleza es sabia, pero parece que a veces tambien se pregunta cosas.. :)
I will explain why...
For it’s the duty of each one of us to be the best we can be... Beauty is easy to shoot... Beauty is acceptable…this is not beauty... But I hope it's though provoking...
If this makes you stare and think... Then, then I’m happy...
There's nothing wrong to ask the question why?
Please remember.
To control the light is to control photography...

I need my raincloud to go away.
And I hate my hands. Sometimes they look too big, and sometimes they look too small, but they never look like the right sized hands. Does anyone else get that? I think it might just be me. This was also taken at an odd angle, with odd lighting, and so it accentuates the oddness of my hand. 14 & 15 are the questions that I have to do for biology class tomorrow.
so i'm back and re-discovering the slworld. I already have the mesh body. I've been working on this demo of the Lilly mesh head for, in sl time, at least the length of two sl divorces and marriages...lol jk. But please help. Do I mesh head?
Yes?
No?
I love my legacy head or whatever. My old school frost sauce head but I think i got pretty close. Thoughts? Concerns. yes i'm so 2014.
Oh i'm working on a cafe and my art space again. that will be coming soon.

Meaning Of Life
Meaning of Life? The Ultimate Question from the Beginning
Meaning of Life? – This has been the ultimate question since the beginning of mankind. It seems inherent in our nature to ask questions such as “Where did we come from? How did I get here? What’s my purpose on earth? Where do I go when I die? What’s the meaning of all this?”
Meaning of Life? -- The answer to this question cannot come from human intelligence or reason, but only from the Creator himself who transcends our material world. As we see in today’s naturalistic society, once we remove God from the equation, we start to lose all sense of purpose for mankind. But, if God exists, we really do have a transcendent purpose, and really do have meaning for our lives. Not only do we find day-to-day significance in our lives, but an ultimate significance through our hope in eternal life. If God exists, we remove the moral relativism that pervades today’s society, and we replace it with a standard of absolute right and wrong residing in the character of God Himself. This gives our day-to-day choices significance too. God gave us the ability to choose whether we live by His moral laws or by whatever values we assign to ourselves through our own reason. As we find, we are not mere robots placed on this earth by God. Rather, we have absolute free will to follow what He says or not. We can either recognize God as the Creator of the universe, or we can deny that He exists. We can choose to live a meaningless life or a life with absolute and eternal purpose.
I went to Tate Britain yesterday to see Mark Wallinger's recreation of Brian Haw's Parliament Square protest. It's incredible. Afterwards I thought I'd walk down to the square and see Brian for myself. He was making a cup of tea and when I asked him if I could please take a photo he didn't seem to mind. . . . until that is I decided it might be a good time to make polite chit chat . . . here's how it went . . . .
Tommy: "How are you today?"
Brian Haw: "Don't ask me such fucking stupid questions!"
I apologised and then left. I didn't think it was that much of a shit question.
From an ongoing series of Toronto photographs, of people and performers, festivals and events, graffiti and notices, walls and doorways, all linked by the question, who lives here? A search, if you will, for the signs that reveal our shared existence, and the faces and gestures that reveal who we are....

Rotting fruit, tree sap, dung, and carrion are the foods preferred by the adult Question Mark butterfly. Only when these are unavailable do Question Marks visit flowers such as common milkweed, aster, and sweet pepperbush. I photographed this one in my yard in NE Oklahoma.

*Not the brand or technique is important in photographic art, but the understanding of the things behind the photographed subjects, the emotion, the composition, the joy or the sadness, the life itself that is mysteriously coming unrepeatable as a gift.

* I have seen a large part of the most popular or devoted photographers' photographs over time and of course I can say that most of them have speculated on different situations, angles of photography, shadows, different brightness, feelings, human tragedies, all kinds of paradoxical situations that of course make them noticed. I do not want to bring any name into question for the simple reason that each photographic artist has a unique value. However, I regard the photographic art as a simple spectator that is difficult to be convince most of the times. I contemplate the creation of God and every time I photograph I do not forget how grateful we should be for all the beauty that our Creator gave it to us! People who forget this do nothing but hate themselves and the world they live in and photography is nothing but a mirror of this beautiful or crooked world.(Horia Stanicel)

After working on flash for a while and I decided to start a new Spider-Man but can't decide what kind of eyes he should have. Large or small??
So, as you can tell from the title, I have another question for you guys. This ones about my profile picture, I'm thinking it might be time to change it up a bit, seeing as I've had this one since I began here on Flickr. I may also change my banner as well, just so everything's been changed.
So... yeah, what do you guys think? Feel free to give suggestions and opinions. I know this is probably quite a minor thing, but still felt it might be something worth asking. XD
EDIT #1: I have found one I'm pretty happy with, thoughts?
EDIT #2: May try this one, seeing as this one is me. (or at least a version of me. XD)
Good morning everyone. I thought for today I would share a short video (about 40 seconds long) of a Halloween Pennant (Celithemis eponina) literally "blowin' in the wind".
The genus of dragonflies known as Celithemis get part of their common name from the habit of perching on the tip of a weed stalk or stem, and waving in the breeze like a "pennant". And none of them does it better as far as perching on the tallest stem, and hanging on in the stiffest breeze or wind, as the Halloween Pennant.
I know, not many of you are thrilled about videos, but I thought my overseas contacts, or those of you not familiar with this dragonfly, might find how they act interesting.
As for the title...it was taken from the song "Blowin' in the Wind" written by Bob Dylan in 1962 and released as a single and on his album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963. Although it has been described as a protest song, it poses a series of rhetorical questions about peace, war and freedom. The refrain "The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind" has been described as "impenetrably ambiguous: either the answer is so obvious it is right in your face, or the answer is as intangible as the wind".
Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you're having a truly nice week.
