Oral Question Period on the first day of business for the Third Session of the 28th Legislature. November 18, 2014.
Since I'm a bit run down anyway all the sight seeing yesterday really knocked the stuffing out of me. So today I concentrated on getting my energy back so I can have fun visiting my stepsister out in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada tomorrow. I had a wonderful breakfast at Cafe Gratitude, another Yo Soy Bonita, an I Am Graceful (coconut-almond frosty smoothie) and a bowl of luscious bean soup. I got there when my waitress was writing the question of the day on the chalkboard sign: What Do Your Friends Love About You? It was a bit of a stumper - my waitress suggested it was my creativity and openness (she was really interested to hear about my 365 project and loved my wacky jewelry) but in the end I decided that it was because of my humour and empathy - all of my other good qualities come and go but my friends love me anyway.
I wish I'd got the waitress' name, she very kindly let me take a photo of her for my 365.
After my breakfast I went and found that Berkeley Games stocks kites and on enquiring I found that they had one of the parafoils I've been lusting after - a twelve foot heart. I can't wait to fly it! I wanted to today, but in the end I was too tired so I had a nap instead. Hopefully I will get to fly it tomorrow. So that was my day - I had breakfast and a nap.

this is one of those coulda shoulda woulda shots. i wish i got the light a little better framed, but i like the idea of how it came out. le sigh.
first question: do you shoot in raw or jpeg? i currently shoot in jpeg and want to know what you think are advantages of shooting in raw, if you do so. i've heard countless times that it's better, but never why.
also, if you've been to NYC before, what are your must-see/must-do's? I haven't been but will be visiting with my best friend in early August. we need some help choosing activities!

I have not been out to take any shots lately - :( - so today I was going through some photos I took of a friend during the summer.
This couple is so in love and I just love these little moments. Which brings me to a question for any and all who can shed some light on this for me. I wanted to crop this in a little closer so you could really see their faces because in the original they are much smaller. While cropping I was struggling with whether to center their heads or their bottoms. I don't like how her bum is cut off but I didn't really like how it looked when I included it. What would you do and what do you think???

I will be curious to see if anyone can explain this phenomenon to me. When I was outside in Columbia County, New York, USA on September 6, 2009, looking closely at the roadside plants for bugs or other things of interest, I noticed what looked like a twig--approximately 1 1/2-2 inches tall--standing upright on the surface of a wild grape leaf. I wondered if it might be some kind of caterpillar or, perhaps, a walkingstick. After my friend Duane & I each took some photos of it, he touched it. It was, definitely, a twig & was firmly attached to the leaf! Very strange!

Students answer questions during a Congressional Hearing exercise at West Middle School, May 22, 2012, in Greenwood Village, Colo. The students, who have studied Constitutional issues in groups for the past couple weeks, give presentations and answer questions from panels made up of local legislators, attorneys, business leaders and other community volunteers. The average person wants the cheap term life insurance and they want all the coverage they can get at that price; however, if you do not understand the differences in policy coverage that you may be getting the short end of the stick. Insurance can be a rather dry subject that no one really wants to understand they just want to know that they covered. The lowest premiums do not mean that the insurance is inferior and the highest premiums do not mean that you will have the coverage that need for a particular situation.
