Wednesday we walked 2km roundtrip thru Hatley Castle parkland, trails.
This was after flying the Yuneec Q500 Typhoon quadcopter at Allendale Field. This time was our fifth outing with the new quad so we chose a new location beside Metchosin Road.
It was very rewarding being able to calibrate the compass for the first time. The flights went very well and it appears I'm learning how to gain control of this bird.
We took a few photographs and several short videos showing the north side of the field from the air.
It was a most pleasant day with no wind and under clear, sunny skies. The clear factor gives us good satellite connections.

Not QUITE as I wanted as I didn't get the whole marina in and the inlet isn't central but I was worried about annoying people and didn't want to send the quad up again.

Here’s the frame unfolded next to my Spektrum DX 6i radio. My servo wiring from the ESCs to the KK board and to the radio needs a clean-up, but I’ll do that after some testing. The frame has a place for everything except the radio. It’s not a big deal, I’m using a much bigger radio than required (OrangeRx R910 Spektrum DSM2 9Ch 2.4Ghz TwinPort Rx) the quad only needs 4 channels.
The other annoying thing is the battery orientation underneath is set up for an ‘X’ configuration meaning the battery will run diagonally in the ‘+’ (plus) configuration. I’m not too concerned as I feel the quad will still be reasonably balanced and the gyro will make up for any minor error.

From the web site this kit includes spelling mistakes as bad as mine and some other parts, here’s the list:

I’m still testing and building so it’s not yet flying. So far I think it’s a decent kit with only a few issues.
First Person Vision (FPV) is the holy grail for an RC pilot coming before autonomous navigation. I am just scratching the surface here and learning. I was looking at the monitor to position the quad for the every 10 seconds shot by the GoPro camera.

Selling my DJI Phantom Quadcopter (drone) with 2-axis gimbal. It is in great condition and has been professionally owned and I'm the original owner. It has a modified battery door so you can plug it in easily and not have to mess with jamming the battery wires back into the body of it which makes things much easier and it is also the later model which has the tilt control on the back of the remote! This thing is ready to fly, just plug it in, put your gopro in and you're off.
