Severn Valley Railway's Eardington Halt. This is a still shot from an HD video captured by a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter equipped with a GoPro 3 hero+ camera and stabilising gimbal.
When the police rang up to ask if they could practice with their new drone I was expecting something somewhat larger. It's only about 14/15 inches across, it has a cruise speed of about 35 knots and flies for 45/50 minutes. All controlled by something similar to an Ipad. The camera will read a number plate from 1/2 a mile or so.

Upon attempting to take off the quadcopter wants to either spin or flip over on a diagonal axis. But I’ll get there. A very big thank you to my brother Luke for helping me every step of the way.
Yuneec Q500 Typhoon quadcopter at Allendale Field. This time was our sixth outing with the new quad so we chose a new location next to the rock pile in the northeast corner of the field.
I got a bit tired of seeing my HD videos turned into pixels on Youtube so am going to make movies in HD from now on.
This one is nowhere near the original from my Yuneec Q500 Typhoon quadcopter's CGO3 4k video camera but it will have to do -- for now

N.B. It could be a crappy codex from my Pinnacle Studio 15 editing software

This was a photo I had envisioned since I first saw one of the Phantoms in action- an aerial photo of house from the road. So this afternoon between the rain spells I went out to take the photo I had planned, but it turns out that the trees are so thick in our yard that there is no way to actually see any of out house from anywhere out there. I guess we are pretty safe from drone attacks!

The aluminum bars are 'towel rack' bars from Home Depot, about $4 each.
On a day when the sun was perfect but the wind was high my brother wanted to travel to the highest nearby point. Why you ask? Well it wasn’t apparent to me until I got there. It was about the view and trying to get some interesting video on the GoPro. My brother struggled with the wind but flew without incident. It wasn’t apparent how bad he was fighting the wind from the ground but the video showed it clearly.
This is what remains of the clubhouse at the Hawk Valley golf Course as of March 2018. The back 9 is still open for play.

It was very rewarding being able to calibrate the compass for the first time. The flights went very well and it appears I'm learning how to gain control of this bird.
We took a few photographs and several short videos showing the north side of the field from the air.
It was a most pleasant day with no wind and under clear, sunny skies. The clear factor gives us good satellite connections.
