A man operating a quadcopter drone at Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

While I was at this years Ashbourne Shrovetide Football on Tuesday 4th March and Wednesday 5th of March I noticed some new and unusual filming going on.

The first thing that was rather obvious was a quadcopter flying over the crowd, well just out of the way of the crowd. Apparently this was being filmed for Red Bull, I took two photographs of the Quadcopter when it landed.

As you can see its being controlled by two people, one to fly the quadcopter and another operator for the camera

control.

This is a nice bit of kit, must have some serious power in those 8 blades to lift that camera up, it was very stable in the air too.

A couple of guys were flying this amazing gadget around the centre of Verona.

Quite satisfied with it so far :)

As seen from a dji phantom3 quadcopter

Selling my DJI Phantom Quadcopter (drone) with 2-axis gimbal. It is in great condition and has been professionally owned and I'm the original owner. It has a modified battery door so you can plug it in easily and not have to mess with jamming the battery wires back into the body of it which makes things much easier and it is also the later model which has the tilt control on the back of the remote! This thing is ready to fly, just plug it in, put your gopro in and you're off.

Made my BLADE look like a bitch.

So, I was thinking about getting a DJI Phantom 2, but decided it was a good idea to practice before buying one - so I got this instead. Still thinking about the Phantom.

... it's arrived! My MJX Model X400V2C.

We're talking 'Headless', 'FPV' with 'Virtual Reality' - and that's just the Quadcopter (not the pilot). Slight delay with the first flight; the software isn't compatible with my Android phone (inserted into the VR goggles) and the generated Wifi field connecting the 'copter only has a range of about three feet and lasts for less than thirty seconds. Adding to this, the poxy 300k camera gives an image not disimilar to me taking my glasses off. Generally speaking a bit disappointing - although nothing that splashing the cash won't fix. On the plus side, it flies like a bee on steroids.

Just added this JXD 515v quadcopter to the fleet. Actually, I've been having loads of fun with the JJRC H36 but it lacks a camera. The JXD 515v is similar and has a camera all be it a low resolution one.

Minutes before this first flight, I lost a JJRC H37 "Elfie" in a tree. The Elfie was controlled via an iPhone app that simply didn't work for me. It took off and flew to the side and I simply couldn't get it to respond.

Anyway, as you can see from the opening image, this quadcopter comes with a controller, definitly the way to go. My hope is to take this along when we travel and, perhaps, capture some images of our surroundings. It's small and light and most definitely is in the "toy class" which should keep it from drawing much attention. At the very least, it's a low cost item should it be lost.

One feature that enhances flyability is "Altitude Hold". Makes an enormous difference!

The JXD 515v measures about 5-1/2 inches square and is about 2 inches tall. It's light and would not require registration IF the requirement still existed.

Background Music: Steely Dan's album "Two Against Nature". The track is "Jack of Speed"

UPDATE: One of the motors went in the Spring of 2018. I bought another set and just didn't get around to diving into repairing it until today, January 2019. Anyway, I should have simply spliced the new motor wires to the old wires BUT I decided to try soldering directly to the circuit board. It didn't go well at all so I ended up tossing it in the trash.

However, I really liked this quad and I've got 6 spare batteries so I ordered another one on eBay from a vender in China.
