Q-tips nicely stacked, that's all I got... approximately 0.75 in. X 0.75 in. for the group Macro Mondays, theme: "Cotton"

Nikon 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro, w/PK-12 & PK-13 Extension Tubes (41.5mm), single image shot at f/22.0, an f/stop I don't often shoot at with this magnification and it shows a bit in the image quality (IQ) of the fibers. Sometimes it's all about tradeoffs as I couldn't get a decent Depth of Field (DoF) with a lower f/stop and focus stack failed with so much depth and overlap with the fibers.

This is a mixed media painting I did in June 1995 based upon David Salle's work. It was done for a really interesting class that I loved. We had to do works about newspaper articles, poetry, songs, painters, sculptures and general subjects it was an exhilarating and fun learning experience.

I was desperate for something, any idea I could think of … yeah, this was it 😂

I have to admit that, while my husband loves A Tribe Called Quest and has listened since he was in high school, I didn't really get how amazing they were until seeing them live. The complexity of their samples, rhythm and political message really impressed me and made me a fan. Best of all, at the end of their set, they talked about political resistance to much of what is happening today. This is definitely something that I wish more musicians were doing right now.

There is a time and place for soothing and beautiful music and we all need that....but lately I want politically aware and invigorating music to honor not just the listeners in the audience but the politically astute. I loved the idea of everyone as a community coming together and agreeing that we must speak out against oppression and fascism. I was extremely inspired by this and felt that their set was the best set at Pitchfork Music Festival all weekend.

The above is actually a composite that gives a sense of each of them in space as the way it often was on stage but with a higher amount of detail here as they are single shots focused on then spliced together to honor their awe inspiring forms and message. I hope you like it!
