Vancouver looks good on a sunny day. Mountains, commuter trains etc and the "sails" of the old convention centre. Of course, those days are a bit rare in the spring.
A prairie farmer was askked about the snow capped mountains. "Sure, they look pretty, but they really block the view"!
Performance of HELIOS-44, 58mm/2, early 'silver' version with 13 aperture blades. Canon FP with Canon lens mount Convertor 'P' an M42-39 ring was fitted to the lens. Rollei RPX 400 rated ASA 320 developed in Pyrocat-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 7min 10sec, 20*C).. Negative scanned in a JUMBL scanner at 22 MP resolution. Exposure was 1/125 sec @ f 11.
The Nokton 35mm f1.2 works fine as a regular 35 too. Not small, but surprisingly good fit even so.
The 1;1:75 dilution of the Pyrocat kicked up the contrast quite a bit with the Ilford FP4+. Could be handy in flat. grey light - but you loose a bit of high light details in the sun. At the moment not a huge problem though - as sun is rare.
As the sun sets in the west it poses some exposure problems and shows:
A) The Color Skopar is flare resistant B) It's been raining, again, C) The pyrocat can run away with the contrast. A Beutler type developer would have held more tones but it works I think pretty well.
It is a bit of a relief when you are shooting with 100 iso film and the sun comes out . Actual sunny f16 shot!
Mexican restaurant up the street. Good food and good beer. Test of the 40mm f1.4 @ f1.4. The sombreros with lights in them add a bit of strangeness to the atmosphere too.
Great old building on West Broadway. Book store, cafe' and several small enterprises doing whatever small enterprises do.

Before passing the mintish M2 on to Barry, I decided to shoot a farewell roll with it. Mainly to check it out. Barry will be using a Color Skopar 35mm f2.5 on it - so that was what I pot on it. Amazing little lens, sharp, compact and with nice black and white rendition.
Photographed July 2017 : Kodak Vigilant six-16 with Kodsk Anastigmat 130mm/6.3, camera modified to transport 120 film. FOMAPAN 400 rated ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5mlA + 25ml B > 600ml, 7min 30 sec, 20*C).The negative was illuminated on a light panel and 'scanned' with an iPad mini using the Film Scanner app. Image then 'processed' in Flickr.

This picture came out better than I expected, especially considering that I just made a switch to a different developer in Pyrocat HD. There's more detail in this negative than the scanner was able to pick up, I think this one deserves to be drum scanned at some point.

After having battled the curly TriX etc - the Orwo 54 dries flat and doesn't act up in the scanner. My Orwo 54 is all loaded in Nion cassettes so a Nikon S3 was roped into service with the S Nokton 50mm f1.5 on it.
The Pyeocat and the Oewo works well together too.
I have driven the old Farmall tractor. You really don't want wings - but power steering would be nice. They are about as comfortable to drive as a crusher, The narrow track of the front wheels gives it road manners all its own. getting those small front wheels stuck in a furrow quickly develops your biceps trying to get out of it.

Last summer, I repaired my old 120mm symmar through a complete disassembly and cleaning (lenses and compur shutter), then I took this view to test the lens.

Pretty good eh !
The lower conrast of the old Summicron 35 moderated the contrast here. the building was brilliantly white (direct sun) and with the naked eyes you could not see any details in the white wall.
Sun and contrast. The Acros 100 in Pyrocat HD stand development is trying to hold it together, marginally success full.
Not much in the mid tones and highlights are border line here.
I had a couple to rolls that were not Nikon Rf's. Mainly testing Kodak Double X and Orwo UN 54 with the extended time in Pyrocat HD. No surprise with the XX - seems to accept any developer with no problems - and it also dries flat!
Mystic, rune like sign on sidewalk - or some marking by the city crews - equally incomprehensible anyway.

David studying the "fanzine" from Turkey that Simon brought. It was a group effort. Some interesting stuff too.
The Ultron 21mm f1.8 at f1.8. Focus is on the graffiti. It is a very good lens - pretty straight rendering and even at f1.8 it is remarkably sharp. Big, yes but fast.
I revisited Venford Dam yesterday to retake the image and to attempt to shift the lens to bring the middle pier inline with the middle stilling pond wall. Because I needed a lens with a larger image circle I chose the 90mm Super Angulon.
What a difference a couple of days make, the rainfall we have had recently ensured that the amount spilling was tremendous for this time of the year.

Wow, it's been a lot longer than I thought since a barbershop image has made its way onto Flickr! Have no fear, the Barbershops project is still alive and kickin', and throughout the week/weekend, there will be more coming.
Ah, Swanson's, now my regular go-to for a quick trim, the talk of the town, or a quick critique on other barbershop images. This barbershop is < 1/2 mile walk from my apartment, is right next door to my favorite breakfast spot, and is only two doors down from Leslie at Imagine That! Talk about prime location!
The barber pictured, Ron, was kind enough to let me take his picture twice! This time, however, there's a little less movement on his behalf. ;)
