While making this photo, I was reminded of the Kipling poem "The Betrothed," about a man whose fiancée gives him an ultimatum: he must choose between her and his beloved cigars. He spends the whole poem debating the relative merits of each, uttering the famous line: "And a woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a Smoke." That, of course, was written in another era with different sensibilities. Today, a guy could have his Nobel Prize for Literature revoked for publishing stuff like that. (And the sexism wouldn't go over too well either...)
For 120 pictures in 2020 #89 "Pyramid", this is a small glass decoration/paperweight/dust collector. The glass is actually clear, and refracts and reflects the colors around it, in this case a small glass dish.
I guess a lot of you will recognize the pyramids at The Louvre in Paris, France. This was taken on the first evening of my trip.
If you suddenly found that you travelled back to ancient Egypt and saw the pyramids, what would you say?
The Louvre Pyramid (Pyramide du Louvre) is a large glass and metal pyramid designed by Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei. Located in the main courtyard of the Louvre Palace, it serves as the main entrance to the museum. Completed in 1989, it has become a landmark of the city of Paris.
X I imagine there are tens of thousands of photos of the Paris Pyramid on Flick , so do we need another one ?. The answer is probably not ; but I am going to post this postcard shot anyway. I remember seeing the Pyramid that was designed by I. M. Pei for the first time in 1990 and it was quite shocking . Over the years it has lost its ability to shock though I still feel it was an audacious blending of old and new and it still looks rather good in my opinion

A lovely cycle ride out into the beautiful Kent Countryside and to The Beheading of St John the Baptist Church at Doddington with its award wining wildlife managed church yard famous for the wild flower meadow and Pyramidal Orchids, stunning......
Maybe not as pretty as the Swiss Matterhorn, but more exact in its pyramid form: The Vinsåshornet as seen from Geiranger, Norway.

From the lovely mountain settlements of Otro valley, the sun rises above the great pyramid of Monte Tagliaferro, the Ironcutter.
Dalla valle d'Otro, il sole sorge alle spalle della piramide del Monte Tagliaferro.

Panoramic view of Giza pyramid complex. The first three pyramids are called queens pyramid and are part of the funerary complex of the Mykerinos pyramid. Mykerinos is the smallest pyramid of giza (63 m). Behind Mykerinos stands Khephren. Khephren was the father of Mykerinos. We can see at the top the original coating that covered all pyramids in the past. Khephren bigger than mykerinos (143,5 m). The third pyramid is Kheops, also called great pyramid of Giza. Kheops was the grand-father of Mykerinos (146,6 m). Kheops pyramid has been built 4500 years ago.

Yesterday evening's trip to the Plain was just a delight ... wildflowers everywhere ... more Pyramidal Orchids than I've ever seen before!

I took some pictures after work tonight. This one is the Louvre's pyramid. I didn't have any tripod with me so I had to improvise! I also forgot to switch back from JPEG to RAW and therefore the quality is not as good as I would like it to be. I will go back there with more gears in the next few days. Feel free to tell me what you think!
