This is the second largest of the trio of pyramids in Egypt and the only one that still has a bit of the limestone left at its peak.
The Egyptian pyramids are ancient masonry structures located in Egypt. Most were built as tombs for the country's pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods.
The most famous Egyptian pyramids are those found at Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. Several of the Giza pyramids are counted among the largest structures ever built. The Pyramid of Khufu is the largest Egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.*

The Pyramids of Giza - a previous shot of mine reprocessed in Black & White. I think I'll hang this one up.
Pyramid Lake was formed by the tears of Stone Mother, who had herself a tsunami-like cry after her husband "The Man" banished two of her children from the tribe for being class act brats. Her multi-day cry not only created the lake but eventually turned her to stone, thus her name "Stone Mother." Apparently, she's still sitting somewhere along the shore with her basket by her side. I saw none of that, but given my current state of mind, I think it's all quite plausible.

Jasper's Pyramid Lake bridge crossing to the island on the right. Beauty on both ends.
Thanks for taking a look!

Diese wilde Orchidee steht auf der selben Wiese in direkter Nachbarschaft zur Bienen-Ragwurz. Ich war gleich doppelt geflasht und das fast vor meiner Haustür.

Color contributes to beauty, but it is not beauty. Color should have a minor part in the consideration of beauty, because it is not [color] but the structure that constitutes its essence.

It looks like an exceptional year for Pyramidal Orchids on the North Downs this year. I don't think that I've seen so many in bloom before.
There's plenty of pyramidal orchids around this year but this one is one of the biggest I've ever seen and actually made me stop in my tracks when I spotted it on the side of a path. I spent the next 20 minutes taking photos of it trying all sorts of different angles
The pyramid - The iconic and unmistakeable pyramid profile of Stob Dearg commonly known as Buachaille Etive Mòr (the herdsman of Etive) reflected in the River Coupall. An incredibly dramatic and beautiful landscape, typifying the very best of what the Highlands has to offer; this distinctive mountain is irresistible in its charm in so many different ways.

The lovely view of Lake Michigan from Pyramid Point. In the distance you can see North Manitou Island.
Pyramid Peak reaches an elevation of 14,018 ft (4,273 m). Despite its height and rugged craggy top, it takes a back seat to its more famous cousins, the Maroon Bells. This was shot shortly before sunset at Maroon Lake, Colorado.
Happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.
