Built in 1716 as gate tower of Jonghae Gate, the west gate of the inner fort of Pyongyang, it was moved to Moran Hill when the gate was demolished in the 1930s. Rebuilt in 1959 after destruction during the Korean War. Juche Tower can be seen in the distance.
