Tri-X pushed to 1600

September 2016

Flickr stripped my exif - the lens is FD 24mm f/2.8

m6 ttl 0.58 / 35 lux / provia 100f pushed 1 stop

Bords de Seine, Paris.

Large.

For the techies a bit of old school for the new year: film scan of a 35mm TMax 400 push-processed at ISO 800, shot with an OM-3Ti with a blue filter and my old time secret filter (the grandma's silk stocking from the 70s – Gordon Willis’ trick for the photography of “Manhattan”).

Happy new year.

P.S. reuploaded - I had uploaded by mistake the low def version (too much champagne I suppose).

I don't know much about the Basque people and of the independence movement in there, but we didn't see any of it in the big cities like Bilbao and San Sebastian.

However we also visited Oñate, the town from where my wife's father family emigrated to Argentina, and the independestist feeling is strong there.

Flags of Euskadi everywhere, all the signs only in Euskera in the shops and streets (the ones in spanish where covered with black paint) and also several graffiti on the walls.

We didn't felt threatened or insecure at all, people were really friendly like in all the places we visited only that this was a bit different.

Sunset, dessert, and cruising on the lake.

Damn. Now I see that the photo would have looked better if I'd focused on the figures rather than the distance. I love my cameras, but cannot possibly use all of them often enough to keep in practice with every one. I have a couple of "workhorses", but the others only come out from time to time for "exercise". Cameras like to be used. My habitual lack of co-ordination, combined with this lack of day-to-day familiarity with every camera, leads me into error. I suppose auto-focus and auto-exposure were developed to eliminate such problems, but something puritanical in my temperament tells me that this is cheating. Auto-focus lacks a moral dimension: mistakes no longer carry consequences. What's that? Well yes ...I, hrmph, yes ...well, all right, I suppose you do tend to get a greater number of good photos, and that's all very well. It's just that...
