Design and construct an Arithmetic-Logic unit that contains a 4-bit register (R). The input to the unit shall be a 4-bit word (X) (in the sign-magnitude format if it represents a number) and a 3-bit control code (C). The unit shall perform the following operations:
OperationRegister Transfer
Load (LD)R ← X
Clear (CLR)R ← 0000
Set (SET)R ← 1111
Add (ADD)R ← R + X
Subtract (SUB)R ← R – X
Complement (NOT)R ← R
AND (AND)R ← R ∧ X
OR (OR)R ← R ∨ X
XOR (XOR)R ← R ⊕ X
Shift Right (SR)R ← |0 R(3:1)|
Shift Left (SL)R ← |R(2:0) 0|
Barrel Shift (BS)R ← | R(0) R(3:1)|
No Operation (NOP)R ← R
The unit shall display the contents of the storage register (R) on binary displays. Also indicate the register-overflow condition. If the contents of the storage register is a number, it shall be in the sign-magnitude format. The machine operation shall be initiated by a pushbutton “clock.”
The operations may be performed by hardware or by software operations if more appropriate. If an operation is performed by a software operation, write and test the machine language program that accomplishes the operation.
Write and test machine language programs that multiply positive numbers by 2 and 3. In each case a single number shall be entered as the multiplicand.

In the early 1960s, Jeep, under Kaiser-Willys management, felt it was time to offer a larger, more comfortable vehicle than the aging Willys station wagon. Competition was closing in on the company and something had to be done. The Wagoneer was introduced for 1963 using the Gladiator Pickup platform. It offered customers the opportunity to haul the family and utensils in comfort, easily tow a load and go off-road when needed. Designed by Brooks Stevens, who had penned a number of products for Willys and Kaiser, the Wagoneer proved popular among Jeep enthusiasts and people simply looking for a large vehicle for their purposes.
Knowing the Wagoneer was commanding fair market share, Jeep produced the Super Wagoneer in 1966. It was equipped more luxuriously than anything like it on the market with accessories like a pushbutton radio, interior ceiling lights, air conditioning, a seven-position steering wheel, power steering, power brakes, a power tailgate, bucket seats, a center console, automatic transmission and much more. It was a precursor to what would evolve into a luxury SUV, something very common today, but unheard of back then. In 1978, the Wagoneer Limited was introduced, which was hugely luxurious and technologically advanced, again, marking a precursor for what would become the Grand Wagoneer of 1984, one of the most popular and recognizable vehicles ever made.
This 1988 Grand Wagoneer has 55,000 original miles and was given a comprehensive restoration, including an extensive mechanical refreshing. Powered by the 360 CI V-8 engine and 727 automatic transmission, this Wagoneer features an aftermarket fuel injection system that has been uniquely designed to give the appearance of the original carbureted setup. Finished in custom Burgundy Pearl paint with proper simulated wood paneling, the interior is upholstered in tan with custom plaid seating surfaces that gently match the exterior paint. The dashboard is new and fitted with an aftermarket stereo system with hidden components. Drivers will love the back-up camera and factory air conditioning to help keep things cool.

Industrial Ethernet master blocks are available with EtherNet/IP or PROFINET protocols. EtherNet/IP masters support daisy-chain connections with a built-in switch as well as support the Device Level Ring (DLR) topology for easier troubleshooting. PROFINET blocks support Fast Start UP (FSU) as well as the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) for easy setup right out of the box. Both master devices have easy-to-use, lockable pushbutton displays for quick setup and provide webpages for configuration or diagnostics purposes.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Wavetronix Advance radar, flashing yellow arrow, Polara Navigator audible pedestrian pushbuttons, Alpha battery backup, Naztec 2070 controller with Apogee V/76 firmware, Reno 1600GE MMU, Ruggedcom Ethernet switches, and more.
Thanks to Ranjit for the original device, Charles Pax for the pushbuttons on the right, and Evil Mad Scientists for the protoboard!
Yup, in the box was a real phone! I didn't open it...it was closed the day before and locked.....

Conway Yard
Conway Yard is 23 miles northwest of Pittsburgh and, according to the Pennsylvania Railroad, was the "Largest Pushbutton Railyard in the U.S." Through the Conrail years and into the NS years, Conway had an eastbound and westbound hump yard. There is now only one hump but it is still a busy place.
After 9-11, things have changed considerably. The bridge over the east end of the yard is now off limits. Going anywhere near the yard now is discouraged. But there are still a few good photo opportunities available.

in the hallway of a home for demented people there are four of these machines. Push a button and a sound will be heard that relates to the picture (and items in the picture lighten up). Very nice and recognizable sounds. I can't resist to push some when walking by.

Said to be the most beautiful Christmas lights ever made, these were assembled in Chicago from Czech crystal parts. In this case, only four are antiques; the rest are modern replicas. The wooden backing was a gift from a friend, who thought it might work for this display; I'd previously been thinking of an equilateral triangle, but I like this much better.
A green glowing LED pushbutton mounted in the fireplace mantel (several photos ahead) operates these only as long as you hold the button. I didn't want any chance of them being accidentally left burning.

A Ktwang is an ektar, that is, a single string instrument, the tone of which is bent by bending the neck, which varies the tension. Playing one is an entirely different discipline from playing a guitar, since you're never sure how it will sound moment to moment. Playing Ktwang hones your musical ear and your improvisational skills; you have to make it up as you go along. It's no pushbutton slave, like a synthesizer. Like an animal you ride, it has it's own life and way of moving, and you nudge it along, rather than dictating to it.
