Originally I had a grandiose scheme to earth ground my NAC by adding a plug socket in the rear panel. But honestly there isn't really room to do it(inside things pretty well cover the panel).

So I just removed the old 2 prong plug. Then I cut the end of a nice 3 prong IEC cable, crimped on ring terminals, and wired that in place of older cable The only difference being I now wired the earth ground line from the plug to the earth ground terminal.

Mine was missing the silly enviro/bio plug on the rear of the panel. But I just inserted a 30mm pushbutton hole plug since it is the same size.

Businessman pressing virtual icons

"No sé, curioso...".

¿No quiere siquiera pensárselo?

In the block next to mine there is an esoteric shop, selling books and strange parafernalia. I often pass walking in front of it, but I never entered: I don't need anything they may sell.

Anyway I meet from time to time the owner walking in te quarter, or I see him chatting with customers or neihbours by his shop. When we meet, both politely mutter "morning" to each other, but we never talked.

Few days ago I got out for a walk with my camera, and wandering through the quarter I passed by this shop. In its little show window I saw a new decoration. There was a panel with something I supposed to be two big pushbuttons. I dind't see anyone near, so I switched on the camera, and I focused to catch the buttons and the reflection on the window. There is not much light but I press the shutter.

Just when I put down the camera I have a thrill because the shop owner is just by me and I hadn't noticed him before. Immediately he asks:

"What do you think about?"

I recover form the surprise but I can't find what to say. He keeps waiting for my answer.

"Well... I don't know... curious your decoration with two pushbuttons..."

"They are not a decoration!"

"Really?"

"You can take an important decision whith these buttons"

Something strange in his expression makes me begin a sort of withdrawal muttering: "well, excuse me, I had to go ..."

"It's free. Don't you want to know what kind of decision?"

I stop because I realize he's going to tell me about the thing anyway. And I begin to be courious.

He goes on: "What are you able to sacrifice for your hapyness? May be you feel that removing a certain person, your way to the happyness would be clearer"

I stare at him. "¿?"

"One of these buttons will suppress for you the person you are thinking about. Nobody will never know. Just try."

"But, what is the effect of the other button?" I do ask.

"Just one is effective, but we can't know wich of them. Choose one, press it, and may be you'll see the effect in some days. Or may be not"

Shyly I reply that I don't need to eliminate anyone.

"Art sure?" he asks approaching his face to mine.

The intensity of the moment is broken by his cellular ringing.

Few second later I react: "Please answer, I have to go"

"Come back when you make your decision, you'll be welcome" He shouts while he picks up the phone.

Since that day, I turn round the block by the back street.

Enter the modern age. This chunky push button trimphone came onto the scene in 1976. This is later model complete with hash and star keys.

A better shot of the camera I picked up at the show on Saturday. It had a 50mm f/2 lens on it but I have decided to try it out with the 40mm lens that a friend gave me (along with a broken Pentax MG). While I am not a fan of using pushbuttons to change the shutterspeed, I do love the viewfinder on this camera.

Another day gone: productive, avoided, concerned, and relieved. But we go forward. Push button to walk.

Belongs to an old tape recorder.

1931 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A Landaulet Imperiale by Castagna

$368,000 USD | Sold

From Sotheby's:

Extensively documented by marque historian Jonathan Sierakowski, Isotta Fraschini chassis number 1628 was mounted with this handsome formal body, known usually as a Landaulet Imperiale but identified in American parlance on its original bill of sale from Isotta Motors of New York City as an “All-weather Landaulet Limousine.” The sale was made on 17 March 1931 to Mrs. Jean Boalt Chambers of 1175 Park Avenue, who traded in her previous Tipo 8A on the transaction.

Jean Boalt had served as a reporter for the New York Herald during the 1920s, and later was a freelance writer with several radio scripts to her credit. In 1928 she had wed Robert A. Chambers, the great-grandson of sewing machine inventor Isaac Merritt Singer, and himself a prominent New York attorney and civic leader. Together they won many honors at horse shows with hunters from their Long Island estate, Katonah’s Wood. A wonderful period photograph survives, showing this Isotta Fraschini at one such event in Southampton.

In 1948, the Tipo 8A was sold through Gordon Ayre to the enthusiastic early collector, D. Cameron Peck of Chicago, for $250; the Peck Car Record, now held by the Detroit Public Library, identifies the seller as “Jean B. Chambers, Katonah, N.Y.,” and records the car as chassis and engine number 1628. Mr. Peck subsequently sold the Isotta to J.A. Reitzel of Evanston, Illinois. From 1954 until at least 1961, the car was the property of one J. Gross; later owners were Robert J. Fitzpatrick of Toronto, Ontario, noted in the May-June 1976 issue of Antique Automobile, and the noted collectors, Dr. Irwin Ginsberg of Buffalo, New York, and Richard and Linda Kughn of Detroit. In 1991 the car was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, winning 3rd in Class and the Charles Chayne Memorial Trophy for Most Significant Engineering Achievement.

The older restoration remains utterly splendid, showing little of its age, with all finishes presenting strongly both inside and out. Unusually light-handed for a restoration of its generation, it retains much of its original body woodwork, stamped with the Castagna body number, as well as the elaborately detailed hardware characteristic of that coachbuilder. Wonderful touches include a jewel box concealed under the rear seat floorboards, and a marvelous system by which the passengers direct the chauffeur by pushbuttons which light segments of a wheel on the dashboard, instructing “Left,” “Right,” “Quick,” “Slow,” “Stop,” “Turn Around,” or “Go Home.” Even the hood retains its numbered locks, and the hinge is stamped “1628.”

This is a most extraordinary formal Isotta Fraschini, visually impactful and radiating superb good taste.
