This healthy assemblage of cool retro radios and Hi-fi gear greets visitors on the first floor of the indoor P'ungmul flea market. Now, if only these gorgeous old radios could somehow pick up old radio stations....then one could do an authentic remix with Billy Joel's "Honesty"... ;-)

Styling changes were confined to a reshaped grille and side trim, plus uplifted rear fenders that furthered the corporate "Forward Look" theme but seemed ill-matched to the basic 1955 styling. Models expanded as a four-door hardtop, pioneered the previous season at GM, joined the Belvedere line as the Sport Sedan, and Savoy picked up a two-door Sport Coupe. Wagons were now a separate Suburban series, with Deluxe, Custom, and Sport models paralleling Plaza, Savoy, and Belvedere trim.
But with the "horsepower race" at full gallop, performance again got Plymouth's major emphasis for 1956. The old six was tweaked (via 7.6:1 compression) to 125 horsepower, while the base Plaza/Savoy V-8 was bored to 3.63 inches for 270 cubic inches and 180 horsepower at 4,400 rpm with two-barrel carb, single exhaust, and 8.0:1 compression. Standard Belvedere/Suburban power was a new 277-cubic-inch Hy-Fire (bore and stroke: 3.75 × 3.13 inches) with 187 horsepower at 4,400 rpm. PowerPak boosted that to 200 horsepower.
Then Belvedere was eclipsed as Plymouth's best by the Fury, a limited-edition hardtop coupe arriving two months behind the rest of the 1956 line. Identified by flashy gold-anodized side trim and special interior, it carried a new 303-cubic-inch V-8 (3.82 × 3.31 inches) with 240 horsepower that made Plymouth the performance surprise of this year's Daytona Speed Weeks.
Base price was $2,866, nearly $400 above the Belvedere convertible and over $600 more than the Belvedere Sport Coupe, so orders totalled only 4,485. With wagons set apart, Belvedere was also eclipsed in sales, by the expanded Savoy series, though it ran ahead of Plaza and Suburban.
On the engineering side, Plymouth switched from six- to 12-volt electrics, and PowerFlite acquired the controversial control pushbuttons (four, in a pod to the driver's left) that would be a fixture at Highland Park for the next nine years. There was also a gimmicky but unpopular new option: the "Highway Hi Fi" record player
I've never seen urinals with lids on them before. This is how I found them - one open, two closed. These are in Portugal.

De Tomaso Pantera push-button Vignale V8 5.8 I 1971
*** One of the 382 made by Vignale only ***
The very first series of the Pantera, was produced from late 1970 to April 1971.
These cars were built and finished by Carrozzeria Vignale in Torino. In May 1971 De Tomaso opened its own assembly line in Modena.
Since then, Vignale just built the bodies while the finish of the cars – installation of engines, seats, paintwork etc – was done in Modena.
The Vignale-built Panteras are rare. It´s said that about 382 cars were assembled by Vignale in early 1971.
They can be identified by the door handles. The Vignale-built Panteras have push-button door handles (from Fiat 850 Spider)
while all the later models (starting in May 1971) have rectangular ones. In the US, the very early Panteras are called the “Push
button Panteras”. They are very much sought after. I Matthias Zabel, Hamburg

Back in The Day, after touch tone pushbutton phones had been introduced to save the phone company money by reducing their complex electromechanical switchboards, said phone company also charged their customers a higher price for a touch tone line. My response to this was to get a pushbutton phone that made clicks like a dial instead of beeps.
Apparently somebody came up with this clever battery operated mouthpiece attachment that you could add to the receiver of your old dial phone… when you press the buttons, it emits the sounds of a touch tone phone.
This would allow you to keep your old fashioned dial phone, AND pay the higher price for a touch tone line!
There might be a reason why I had never seen one before.

After waiting several weeks it’s finally arrived. My “Hobbyking KK2.0 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board” (Product ID 9171000073). It’s a big upgrade from the earlier versions in every way. I have high hopes for this board helping me better pilot my quad.
There seems to be several good YouTube resources explaining the board and how to set it up. One thing that surprised me was the size. I’d assumed the screen and the PCB were larger- but the board seems to be the same size as previous versions (approx. 50.5 x 50.5mm). It’s not obvious from this photo but the whole enclosed dot matrix LCD is only a little bigger than an SD card.
For those interested I’m powering this from the regulated 5 volts from an Arduino Uno.

Coming soon from Malekko, the next in their line of compact utility modules, is the 4 HP VCA. The VCA is a simple but good sounding dual VCA at an affordable price. Each half has an audio input and output, a CV input with atttenuator and a pushbutton for switching between linear and exponential modes. This module should be shipping within the next couple of weeks.

Children were supposed to decorate a shoebox for their classmates to put valentine cards in. This uses a green arcade-style pushbutton, a single AA battery, three alligator clips, and a DC motor. When the button is pressed, the motor spins a golden heart. A sign that says "Push for Love" is displayed by the button.
1941 Ford
The Ford car was thoroughly updated in 1941, in preparation for a time of unpredictability surrounding World War II. The 1941 design would continue in an aborted 1942 model year and would be restarted in 1946 and produced until the more modern 1949 Fords were ready. During the initial year of this car, it evolved considerably. The front fenders came in three pieces, the theory being that small damage could be replaced easily. During the year, it evolved into two pieces with the lower front and back sections being joined. The hood risers changed, the early ones being the same as 1940 Fords, changing during the year to the better later version. The 1941 Convertible had no rear side windows, the only side windows being in the doors; in 1942, quarter windows were added so the rear occupants could see out. Five different coil/distributor arrangements were used during 1941, causing confusion for mechanics. Other variations were: two different positions for the generator, and three for the cooling fan — front of the crankshaft, front of the generator (rare) and on a bracket. This is thought to be the first Ford to offer an oil filter. The two interior heaters were a "Southwind" gasoline burner, which had the advantage of keeping one warm in winter at drive-in movies (provided a small electric fuel pump was used), and a more ordinary hot-water type. Both had window defrosters. It had an excellent radio, which could consume the battery in about two hours. Electric windshield wipers were available in addition to the vacuum-powered wipers. Three different convertible power top mechanisms (vacuum, electric screw, and hydraulic) and two different header bar latching systems were used. Rear suspensions sometimes had a sway bar, most did not. It had excellent brakes for the time, and the best handling of an ordinary car at the time. It was a very transitional car.
The two previous Ford car lines, Standard and De Luxe, had blossomed into three, Special, De Luxe, and Super De Luxe. This time, the entry-level 136 CID (2.2 L) V8 was deleted in favor of a new 226 CID (3.7 L) L-head straight-6, the first Ford six since the 1906 Model K. The popular 221 CID (3.6 L) V8 remained as the top-line engine and was standard in De Luxe models. Both engines were rated at 90 hp. The 239 CID engine, introduced in 1939 for Mercury and trucks, was continued in the Mercury models. The chassis was longer, with a 114-in (2.9-m) wheelbase.
The "ignition key" for these cars was actually used to operate a bolt lock which, on one end, unlocked the steering column (a feature destined to return, mandated, decades later), and on the other end unblocked the ignition switch, allowing it to be operated. Starting the car was then accomplished by pressing a pushbutton on the dashboard, another feature destined to return with the advent of "smart keys".
Although starting cranks had been replaced by electric starters for decades, Ford cars included a manual starting feature until 1948 as an antidote to dead-battery syndrome. The wheel-lug wrench served as a handle (also for the jack) and the jack shaft with bayonet-coupling pins could be inserted through a small hole in the grille to engage a bayonet socket on the forward end of the engine crankshaft. A quick-and-easy twist of the handle was sufficient to start the flat head V8, and the bayonet coupling was self-disengaging for safety.
1946 - 1948
Civilian production resumed in July 1945, with an early start to the 1946 model year filling the public's thirst for new cars. The 1946 Ford was identical to the 1942 model under the skin, though a heavy new grille with horizontal bars and red accents modernized the car somewhat. The hood was widened by adding a center strip. One notable change was to use the 239 CID engine which since 1939 had been used in Mercurys and trucks, and capable of 100 hp (75 kW) for the first time. With steel in short supply, Ford produced a distinctive "Sportsman" convertible with wood side panels. The convertible had an electric top instead of manual one.

integration in progress between the DAC and the new ds8102 volume control chip.
this is a working config. there is also a new level matching network to convert the DAC output down to 2v 'standard', for the volume control chip.
on the volume-control board you can see the pushbutton wire is connected via a red connector. I took that from a heatsink/fan in the pc world ;) this lets me connect a remote control receiver in place of these test buttons.
when this project goes into a proper box, I would expect the buttons to be on the front and also to have an IR or RF remote that also triggers the buttons (in parallel).

Sometimes, when I see little graffiti markings like this, I like to imagine that this is some sort of secret mark akin to the dwarven rune that Gandalf placed on Bilbo Baggins' door.

The "New Beetle" had returned to most First World markets in 1998, using the front-wheel-drive Golf platform, and became a huge hit. But it was getting long in the tooth after a decade with only minimal changes.
For 2012, the Beetle gets a badly needed redesign. The redesign loses the "cute" feel of the previous model, and gains a lot more retro character in return. The previous Beetle was shunned by men because it was too much of a "chick car," and this Beetle doesn't have that problem.
The interior, with body-colored dashboard complete with a small cubby hole, is definitely very retro. The gauges are much more legible as well. I like this far more than the interior of the previous Beetle, though I prefer the "chick car" exterior of the previous model.
Of course, the presence of leather, pushbutton start, cruise control, navigation system, and automatic transmission mean that this is a far cry from the bare-bones utilitarian Beetles of the hippie revolution era. At least the interior is not cheap, unlike the interiors of certain other modern-day Volkswagens (like the newest Jetta).

Futuristic, spacious, well appointed for the time, with lots of Mopar Performance under that L-O-N-G hood!!! Push buttons were a real big deal back then..... You find plenty of usb outlets to charge your devices and even 115 volt power. Added touch of a rear power window and a dampened tailgate, for smooth and safe use as well as remote tailgate release for when your hands are tied up.
Sprayed in bed lining, and 20 x 9 inch polished wheels top off this Ram 1500 Limited.
Well as if you couldn’t already tell, this Ram 1500 limited is already chucked full of heavy duty and luxury features as standard equipment. So the optional equipment on this vehicle is a fairly short list.
Starting with the Delmonico Red Pearl-Coat exterior paint. A stunning color for a truck to match.
Also option is the Customer Preferred Package 25M. This option package includes; Body-Color Front and Rear Bumpers with rear Step Pads,
Anti-Spin Differential rear axle - quite an asset in New England,

After so much time spent converting M8 files to B&W and trying to make them look like film, I'd been entertaining the thought of just shooting film (I know, crazy idea). That, plus having a "full frame" camera would be nice, too.
So, lately I've been shopping for Leica M2s. I got close to buying one online a couple times, but held out until I could go to my local store and hopefully find a good one that I could actually hold and try out before buying. Amazingly, they had one in stock, and it's nearly perfect! And, 33% less than the ones I'd been considering online!
Happy birthday to me, indeed!
Glad I kept my extra 35mm (a Nokton), as it's not really "extra" now.
I shot a 36-exposure roll of Plus-X today and have already dropped it off for a dev/scan. Can't wait to see my results, especially since I was using "sunny 16" exposure (no meter in this baby).
The soldering is utter crap on this because it was done by hand, save the microSD socket, BGA, and the two capacitors between them.
Electrical test shows all BGA balls connected, visual check shows no shorts between rows or columns. Not bad for a $25 toaster oven :D
