This photo is an apt summary of a good chunk of my four days in the Afar region of Ethiopia. In one of the most inhospitable environments on Earth and the hottest inhabited place on the planet, even the Land Cruisers struggle. Apparently, the 4WD system on this cruiser wasn't working, and so it just wasn't up to handling the off-road driving and kept getting stuck in the sand.
When traveling in the Afar, it is compulsory to have both a local police officer (non-uniformed gun-toting man) and a soldier (uniformed gun-toting man) along as escorts. The bigger the convoy of vehicles, the greater the number of escorts.

6105 at the rear of the 6-piece MKIII push pull set departing Charleville with GM 232 operating the 0810hrs (SuO) Dublin Heuston - Tralee InterCity service.
Note the signal "RC" prefix codes, which is the short for Ráthluirc (Irish name for Charleville). Ráthluirc was the name of the station when CTC was being rolled out on the Cork main line.

Having taken advantage of this latest lockdown to finally finish some more model kits, it was time to refresh the airport display case in my home office. Before being consigned to loft insulation status, I photographed the current models on display. Here is a Revell 1:144 Boeing 767-300 in the livery of Asiana. The grey/brown paint is from Xtracolour, decals are Liveries Unlimited and the replacement engines are a resin set from Braz Models.
Pentax MZ-S 50mm Kentmere 400 pushed to 6400. Developed in Ilfosol 3 1 + 9 at 20 degrees for approximately 70 minutes. Random times between agitations.
On the 20th May 2018 the Spanish built 'Spanaco Loyalty' (2007, 5,000DWT) arrives at a misty Teignmouth in ballast from Falmouth. The former 'Eileen C' was owned by Carrisbrooke Shipping of Cowes who still manage the vessel. This side vessel is pretty much the biggest we see in Teignmouth and the pilot boat gives the impressive mini bulker a push round.

I was going through some old images of our trip to Vietnam in 2011 and I decided to process a few with the new tools that I have found in 9 years!
With what will probably be the last Anglo-Scottish 91 hauled train I see, 91127 pushes 1E17 Edinburgh Waverley to London Kings Cross south, with 82214 the DVT on the front.
86205 'City of Lancaster' now working for Virgin Trains departs Crewe with a London Euston bound service.
