The area lies in the flow of the Elsbeek, which drains the effluent from the sewage treatment plant in Enschede. The water machine purifies the water from the sewage treatment. The area consists of three sections. Each of these sections is successively filled with water for 4 hours by means of sliding, they are emptied again in 4 hours and they are dry for 4 hours. The sections are shallow and need natural vegetation. The vegetation will then purify the effluent so that the Elsbeek contains more oxygen.

Dorothy Falls is a hidden gem located in the Lake Kaniere Scenic Reserve surrounded by native bush.
I wanted to capture the falls as a serene paradise and the feeling of peace and tranquility I had while there. I used the fallen log to create a sense of depth in photograph as it leads your eye into the scene.
The Temple of Aphaia (Greek: Ναός Αφαίας) or Afaea is located within a sanctuary complex dedicated to the goddess Aphaia. Formerly known as the Temple of Jupiter Panhellenius, the great Doric temple is now recognized as dedicated to the mother-goddess Aphaia. It was a favourite of the Neoclassical and Romantic artists such as J. M. W. Turner.
It stands on a c. 160 m peak on the eastern side of the island approximately 13 km east by road from the main port of Aegina island, which lies in the Saronic Gulf, Greece.
Aphaea (Greek: Ἀφαία, Aphaía) was a Greek goddess who was worshipped almost exclusively here. She originated as early as the 14th century BCE as a local deity associated with fertility and the agricultural cycle. Under the later Athenian hegemony she came to be identified with the goddesses Athena and Artemis and with the nymph Britomartis as well, by the 2nd century CE, the time of Pausanias:
On Aigina as one goes toward the mountain of Zeus, god of all the Hellenes, the sanctuary of Aphaia comes up, for whom Pindar composed an ode at the behest of the Aeginetans. The Cretans say (the myths about her are native to Crete) that Euboulos was the son of Kharmanor, who purified Apollo of the killing of the Python, and they say that Britomartis was the daughter of Zeus and Kharme (the daughter of this Euboulos). She enjoyed races and hunts and was particularly dear to Artemis. While fleeing from Minos, who lusted after her, she cast herself into nets cast for a catch of fish. Artemis made her a goddess, and not only the Cretans but also the Aeginetans revere her. The Aeginetans say that Britomartis showed herself to them on their island. Her epithet among the Aeginetans is Aphaia, and it is Diktynna of the Nets on Crete. Description of Greece 2.30.3
Prior to making their procession to the temple, the devotees purify themselves with yellow dye and the water of the nearby river. Afterwards they are dressed and their bodies prepared for the kavadi.
I love Spring, specifically the month of May (albeit now is still April) when the weather is more cordial toward one's expectation of warmer Spring days. This is from the same walk with my girlfriend and our dog from a week or so ago, and I love shooting against the Sun to essentially play with the light.
As I was taking this some grump walked past me muttering under his breath about how I shouldn't be looking directly at the Sun and blah blah blah, clearly didn't realise I was using the Lv Screen and not the viewfinder.
Light is a beautiful marvel of limitless potential for creativity and it's this very light that breathes life into photography and all photographic art forms, as much as the creator desires, though Mother Nature will always remain the true artist.

Christian meanings are giving to the parts of the canes. The 'J' can also mean Jesus. The white of the cane can represent the purity of Jesus Christ and the red stripes are for the blood he shed when he died on the cross. The peppermint flavor can represent the hyssop plant that was used for purifying in the Bible

This town gasworks at Fakenham in Norfolk functioned from 1846 to 1965. It is the only surviving one in England and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Town gas was made by distilling coal. Here are the banks of tubular retorts containing the coal. They had to be filled and then raked out by hand. They are heated, behind the brick wall, to red-heat by flue gases from a furnace at the floor below. Gases from the heated coal travel upwards in the black pipes to a header vessel. From there they are purified and finally distributed around the town for lighting and heating.
The coal distillation and purification yielded as eventual by-products, ammonia, sulphuric acid, nitric acid, tar, phenols, soaps, dyestuffs, early plastics and a host of other valuable chemicals. The retort residue is coke used in iron smelting.

It is World Environment Day and I am happy that India is doing its part from expanding protected areas and restoring ecosystems to achieving over 50% non-fossil fuel power capacity ahead of target. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, Project Cheetah, Project Lion, and the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) movement and many others is how the country continues to strengthen its commitment to climate action, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Another great bit of news is that India now has 99 Ramsar sites designated as wetlands of international importance. These sites cover a combined area of over 1.38 million hectares across 28 states and union territories. India currently has 106 National Parks and 573 Wildlife Sanctuaries. These reserves are vital to protecting the country's megadiverse ecosystems and endangered species. All this in spite of the massive infrastructure development projects also taking place all over the country. But a lot of challenges also remain. It is a journey from ambition to measurable impact.
