Vera Lynn immortalized The White Cliffs of Dover in her 1942 recording. This song helped to provide comfort and hope, as England shuddered and burned in the WW II Blitz. I was a little kid in Boston then, and have always loved this song.

 

The shepherd will tend his sheep

The valley will bloom again

And Jimmy will go to sleep

In his own little room again.
