Maha Shivaratri 2023 was streamed live from Mauritius with Paramahamsa Vishwananda and also from The Ashram, Shree Peetha Nilaya. The celebration began on 18 February at 18:00, with devotees gathering for a full night of satsangs, prayers, dancing and singing the glories of Lord Shiva. The celebration included 4 rounds of abhishekam to Shiva in the form of lingams.

When entering the beautifully decorated, somewhat decadent Tonhalle (music hall of Zurich), one of the first things striking me every time, are the huge, shimmering and glorious chandeliers, hanging so high up that they look like large toys. Then when you lift your eyes to take in their richness and beauty as well as their elaborate artwork and decoration (look at those angel features, the cut crystal, the forged metal...) - you suddenly travel further up to the richly painted, moulded and crafted ceiling.... more and more, a whole story develops and you quite unwillingly take your look off this spectacular show because you didn't come for a huge eye-candy but a concert....!!!
Really has to be viewed LARGE to appreciate its glorious richness and - did I mention it already - it's slight decadence!! ;-)

People always ask me "Aren't you afraid of those bears?".
The simple truth of the matter is that the first time I saw a huge Katmai bear running in my direction (clearly different than "running at me"), I have to admit that I was a bit like a "deer in the headlights". I wanted so badly to take the shot, but I was a bit concerned about my safety and my overall sanity at that moment. At the more popular areas of Katmai NP (Brooks area), the park rangers don't let you enter into an area that the bears are occupying, if it's not an acceptable distance between you and the bear. We walked over to the Visitor Center and just outside we could see a bear playing down the shore a little bit at the water's edge. The rangers allowed us (4 of us) to stand there and observe. Then one of the bears came running up closer to where we were standing. They made us back up from the shoreline toward the VC area, but didn't make us leave since we were already there. We were permitted to observe from a less noticeable area. This was my first "up close" opportunity, so I tried to hide in the brush while taking these shots (hence the brush in the shot) in my attempt to "stay safe". Funny how I actually thought those few wisps of tree branches was going to protect me.
After some time though, I realized that these bears are pure (from man's interference) and natural in their movement and intention. One should definitely be educated about bear behavior (very specific to the type of bear)& respect them, but need not be scared of them.
A benefit to residing in a country setting is the vast amount of diversity in selecting subjects to shoot. This barn on this day with this light and clouds was asking to be shot. "Pure Country" subjects are abundant here and I will continue to take full advantage of this opportunity.
