I purchased this head sculpt on Ebay while waiting for my BVS Superman figure to ship! It's expected to ship next month!
This head sculpt looks pretty good though there has been a lot of debate about the new Superman figure from Hot Toys and it's likeness to Henry Cavill! This sculpt looks pretty close to the Hot Toys version! I'll have to compare them when my figure arrives in July!
I switched out this head sculpt with my Hot Toys Man of Steel figure! Though very different from the MOS head sculpt, I do like it!
I have used a circular cutter to make 180 degree cuts in 0.040 inch styrene sheet for a couple of tunnel portals that I will install on my N scale model railroad. The cutter is made by Olfa, and I purchased it at a local art supply store rather than a hobby shop that sells train stuff. Art supply stores sell lots of tools, paints, craft items, and materials useful to a model railroader. The circular cutter has a strong, sharp compass point that is mounted on a sturdy head which has an adjustment screw. By loosening the screw, a horizontal beam can slide in or out a variable distance from the center point and then be locked down at the desired distance. The replaceable cutting blade (held into place by another screw) is mounted on the horizontal beam.
Nobody makes an N scale tunnel portal the size and shape that I want, so I had to cut my own. The tunnel opening has a radius of 8 ½ scale feet from the track center line, so that is what I set on my circular cutter. The straight vertical dimension for each side is 20 scale feet above the top on the rails plus another 3 feet for the height of the rails, crossties, and roadbed. Both of the vertical sides have to be exactly tangent to the semicircle above, so determining where to position my straight edge for the first side was the trickiest part of the whole project. From that line, I used a steel drafting triangle (also purchased from the art supply store) to place the cutting point and center compass point. I swung a 180 degree arc to locate the position of the other vertical side. My N scale ruler (shown here) is 10 scale feet wide, so my first vertical cut was 10 scale feet from the edge of the styrene sheet. After the circular cut and both vertical cuts were completely through the plastic, I could easily remove the excess from each side.
Figuring the geometry of where to position my circular cutter and the straight edge to guide my razor blade required a lot of thought before doing any of the actual cutting. Once I began cutting, I had to be careful to keep my blades in the right places, but the cutting itself was very repetitive and time consuming. Each tunnel portal required an hour or two of MANY short, little cuts before I broke through the plastic sheet. Then there was sanding to smooth it out and trimming the overall piece to fit the future mountain that I haven’t built yet. This photo shows the positioning of the circular cutter, but I took the photo after the job was done (and my nails repainted). For all this cutting, I used my Dupli-Cutter to hold my work in place. The Dupli-Cutter has clamps that can be positioned in several places, an adjustable slide sheet held down by the clamps, and a frame whose jaws can be opened up to hold various thicknesses of plastic for making precise, square cuts.

- The view is looking north-east across the completely re-built second version of "J. H. Wills" boat-hire shed & the paddle steamer P.S. "TELEPHONE" docked at the floating pontoon/jetty facility.
- John "Jack" H. Wills (with partner Mr Press) was a well-known manager/operator of part of the local Como cruise & pleasure boat hiring business, along with the other primary boat-shed owners, Mr Wheatley & Mr James F. Murphy (also manager of the Holt-Sutherland Estate Land Company), who each owned & operated boat-sheds just to the east of the southern abutment of the rail bridge.
- The original boat-shed Mr Press & Jack Wills had planned for the site (application for lease in Oct 1893) had been granted on 17 Oct 1894 by the NSW Legislative Assembly, with construction completed sometime in 1895. However, the Sydney Morning Herald reports that a devastating fire destroyed the original boating facility shortly after, on 6 December 1895.
- Further in the background can be seen the original single line, steel lattice railway bridge crossing the Georges River at Como.

HISTORIC INFO
- Bridge info from Wikipedia - "The original Como Railway Bridge opened on 26 December 1885 as part of the extension of the Illawarra railway line from Hurstville to Sutherland. It was a single track lattice truss bridge designed by John Whitton, the Chief Engineer of the New South Wales Government Railways. The double tracks converged to a single gauntlet track on the bridge, which enabled trains to cross in either direction without points. When the rest of the line was duplicated, it became a major bottleneck.
- Between 1935 and 1942, the Metropolitan Water Sewerage & Drainage Board built two 60 centimetre diameter pipelines to pump water from the recently completed Woronora Dam to the reservoir at Penshurst. The pipeline was supported on new steel outriggers cantilevered from the main girders.
- Second bridge -
To relieve the bottleneck, a new double track reinforced concrete bridge immediately to the west opened on 27 November 1972. The original bridge reopened as a cycleway (& pedestrian path) on 15 December 1985".

Elsa is now fully deboxed. With the help of her skirt and cape, she can free stand, although she a bit unstable this way. She is posed standing, supported by her included doll stand, except for the last few photos in this series, where I have her free standing to show off her amazing shoes. All photos were taken with the built-in camera flash.
Elsa is very elegant and powerful looking in her Snow Queen gown. It consists of a light blue green satin full length dress, and a oversized blue green sheer organza cape, which is permanently sewn to the top of the dress. The dress has rectangular clear crystals covering the bodice, and round clear gems scattered throughout her floor length skirt, iwth a long slit down the front right side. The back of the dress ends in a long circular tail. The dress is fully lined with dark blue satin. The full length sleeves are sheer blue organza decorated with blue jewels, as is the collar. The cape is truly spectacular. It can wrap around the front to hide the skirt, or be extended to the sides and the back. It is circular, and trails a considerable distance behind her. It is double layered sheer blue green organza, with a pearly sheen, and is quite flexible, unlike the the organza cape of the Classic Elsa, which is stiffened by all the glitter glued to the cape. However, it is not as sheer as the Classic Elsa's cape, as it is two layered, as opposed to the single layer organza capes of Classic Elsa, and also Singing Elsa. The cape is covered in embroidered ice and snowflake patterns, with clear round crystals placed as part of the patterns. There is no glitter used anywhere on Elsa's outfit, unlike the Classic and Singing Elsa dolls.
Elsa has unique shoes. They are iridescent blue high heeled shoes with a snowflake design in the front and back. They have a metallic look to them, even though they are plastic. She also bucks the trend of fully articulated legs in the Limited Edition dolls, by having fixed angled feet. She looks much more elegant with fixed feet in the high heels.
Elsa is a very accurate depiction of the movie character. She has a very striking angular face with pronounced cheekbones, and large bright blue eyes that are glancing to her righ. She has an extremely pale complexion with a purplish tint, and a pearly iridescent sheen to her skin, which is similar to that of the organza gown. She has an elfin look to her face, although her ears are normally sized and shaped, and considerably smaller than Anna's. She has a few freckles across her cheeks, and a solitary freckle on her forehead. She has long gently curving rooted eyelashes, elaborate eyeshadow above her eyes, small thin eyelashes below her eyes (and none above). She has dark heavily applied rouge on her cheeks right below her eyes. This gives her a darker, more serious look than the other Elsa dolls, and very different than Anna's cheerful, carefree look. She has thin blood red lips, in a slight smile. Her body has the same articulation as Anna's, except for the lack of ankle joints, and of course her entire body has the same pearly pale blue skin as her face. She has long light blonde hair that is fashioned into a long braided pony tail, and long flat curves over her head. There is a single side curl over her left forehead, and short sideburns. There are three snowflake shaped crystal hair ornaments in her hair.
Elsa is a truly beautiful and unique doll, and represents the Snow Queen character very well, with a confident, dark look, otherworldly features, and a spectacular gown.
First look at the Harrods special edition of the Disney Store's Limited Edition Anna and Elsa Doll Set. I purchased it through a reseller, as it was only sold at the Harrods London store. It was released on November 1, 2013, in an edition of 100. The retail cost is more than four times that of the separately sold LE Anna and Elsa dolls (which will be released worldwide on November 20, 2013, in an edition size of 2500). My set is #39 of 100, and I received it on November 11, 2013.
They are 17'' fully articulated dolls, with doll stands and certificated of authenticity. Anna is in her coronation gown, Elsa is in her Snow Queen gown. As might be expected, the dolls are considerably different in details than the ''regular'' limited edition dolls. In particular there is considerably more crystals on the outfits, and embroidered snowflakes completely cover the outer gown (cape) of Elsa. Also, Elsa's skin has a pearly shiny surface, very similar to the skin of LE Ursula, although it has a much paler purplish color.

Finally for tonight, here’s a pic of some pins I purchased recently from eBay. EYMS purchased both the Volvo B5TL pre-production Wright Eclipse Gemini 3's after they had finished their demonstrator duties. The second of which is BX14 SYT which is seen here at York Piccadilly with the final X47 service of the day to Hull, seemingly a trailblazer route now regularly being served by 5 ex-demo buses which paved the way for operators to introduce the newest generation of double deckers into their fleets. BX14 SYT was first used in Ireland but it's first stint on the UK mainland was in Harrogate for route 36 ( see here: www.flickr.com/photos/york-bus/16257115126/ ) where it failed partway through its trial and had to return to Volvo so came back to Harrogate later for another go ( www.flickr.com/photos/york-bus/16656831825/ ). It later went back across the water for use in Northern Ireland, where it gained those orange lights either side of the destination display, these flash alternately when the bus is on a school duty - but not required here in Britain they are not used, though I would have liked to see them connected to the respective indicator circuits so as to have a high level indicator going in the same way as old Nottingham buses used to have. Apparently though they do still work, as another spotted noted them flashing one day when this was going through York city centre.
Today I was feeling super bleh so I decided to check my K-Mart to see if they had the LA Girl Fashionista since she’s literally the only one I’ve been full scale excited for in years in terms of modern dolls. And yeah, it looks like Kmart unboxed a pack of the new wave, but there was two of every girl except the LA Girl and the other 2010 Skipper sculpt doll with the blue skirt so it seems she’ll be the hardest to find.
Also at Target there was a one day sale of buy one, get one free so I decided to get Resort and Director Barbie intending to combine their various articulated pieces since I’m essentially paying for one doll anyways lol.
Anyways this feels like the most amount of modern dolls I’ve bought at once in yonks so it seems like Mattel is getting on the right track.

My Snow White and the Hag Doll Set is fully deboxed. Here Snow White is standing alone, supported by a Kaiser doll stand.
Detailed photos of my Snow White and the Hag Doll Set, the first in store release of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. I got it today in my local Disney Store raffle. The set is #2595 of 6000.
Snow White's in box pose is stiff, with her face pointing up too much, and her curly hair messy, especially on the right. She has the 2012 Classic Princess style body, with hard plastic legs, external hinge knee joints, and ball jointed ankles. She has golden yellow flats, matching the color of her skirt. She has a full length velvet cape with satin lining.
The Hag (or Witch) has a unique body and limbs. Similar to the DFDC Beast doll, she has an awkward stance if free standing. In fact, my doll's right leg cannot be straightened completely and her fixed ankles are bent, so her natural standing pose is stooped, making her stand about 10 inches tall. In the box pose, her feet is raised by plastic forms, so if they are removed for deboxing, her feet dangle in the air if she is reboxed. She doesn't have ankle joints, so she cannot point her toes to reach the floor of the display stand.
They did a fabulous job making the Hag an accurate representation of the animated movie character. I also like Snow White's anxious expression, which is appropriate for being next to the evil Hag. I did the best I could to make Snow's hair neater, but it is still messier than I would like. Her curly hair is heavily stiffened with hair product, so it was not easy for me to rearrange her hair using my fingers.

I just had to purchase the new lego set (76165) and photoshoot it side by side with my Iron Man helmet!
It is virtually the same size but it couldn't be more different in style and approach!
One thing is certain, the new metallic gold parts are awesome! If only there was more parts available in this color!
I purchased the Classic Moana doll on release day (Monday, September 12, 2016) from my local Disney Store. She is 11 inches tall, and cost $19.95. She comes with a large plastic oar that is about as tall as she is. Also the backing cardboard can be made into a boat. It comes with a separate cardboard sail and instruction sheet. Moana has long curly dark brown hair, that is very soft to the touch and looks good right out of the box. She is stable free standing on her large flat feet. She has ball jointed neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hip joints. However, she only has internal click stop knee joints, and no ankle joints. She has a cloth top and skirt, and a plastic necklace. She is a very accurate depiction of the animated character. I show her boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I haven't created her boat yet, but will do so soon.

Purchased from Sears stores, probably in Metarie LA, USA in 1973/74. And therein lies a tale…
(Note to self: a tricky subject to light. Ceiling LED’s & bounce flash. Adjust brightness & contrast. The paint stain on the box is annoying).
The area now known as "Hot Springs National Park" first became United States territory in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The Dunbar-Hunter Expedition came here in 1804, sent by President Thomas Jefferson to explore the southern reaches of the recent purchase. Soon a bustling town grew up around the hot springs to provide services for health seekers. The resultant bathing industry led to Hot Springs becoming known as the "American Spa." But, even before becoming a U.S. territory, Hot Springs National Park had a long and colorful history, beginning long before its designation as Hot Springs Reservation in 1832. American Indians came here for thousands of years to quarry novaculite for their tools and weapons. Finally, on April 20, 1832, President Andrew Jackson signed legislation to set aside "...four sections of land including said (hot) springs, reserved for the future disposal of the United States (which) shall not be entered, located, or appropriated, for any other purpose whatsoever." This makes Hot Springs National Park the oldest national park among current National Park units, predating Yellowstone National Park by forty years.
Later, on August 25, 1916, Congress established the National Park Service (NPS), and Hot Springs Reservation came under its administration. Stephen T. Mather, head of the new organiza-tion, took a serious interest in the development of the site. His enthusiasm for Hot Springs apparently led to its designation as the eighteenth national park on March 4, 1921. At the same time, the townspeople decided to call their city Hot Springs National Park as well. The designation of the reservation as a national park ushered in the final phase of construction culminating in the Bathhouse Row of today. In 1922 the old Government Free Bathhouse was demolished, and a new state-of-the-art bathhouse opened on Reserve and Spring Streets. In 1933 a central thermal water collection and distribution system was completed, and grading began on the Grand Promenade behind Bathhouse Row. In 1936 the new administration building on the corner of Reserve and Central opened, replacing the park headquarters earlier converted from the reservation’s pump house. The Imperial Bathhouse next to the administration building was razed in 1937 to make way for the Grand Promenade entrance on Reserve, although it was to be 1958 before this ambitious project was completely finished. In the final phase of construction, the Fountain Street superintendent’s residence was razed, and the promenade was extended to Fountain Street.
Bathhouse Row and its environs were placed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on November 13, 1974. About this same time, the desire to revitalize Bathhouse Row also led citizens to campaign for adaptive uses of the vacant buildings. The strongest concern was to save the most elegant bathhouse, the Fordyce, which was consequently adapted for use as the visitors center for the National Park and a museum. Today, all the bathhouses have been renovated and adapted for modern use.

Serendip sanctuary, Lara.Originally used for farming and other purposes, it was purchased in 1959 by the state government of Victoria for wildlife research and the captive management and breeding of species threatened in Victoria, such as the brolga, magpie goose, Australian bustard, and bush stone-curlew. The sanctuary contains many different types of wetland and is home to many plant species as well, such as river red gums, tall spikerush, and tussock grass. Serendip now focuses more on environmental education about the flora and fauna of the wetlands and open grassy woodlands of the volcanic Western Plains of Victoria. It was opened to the public in 1991 and is now managed by Parks Victoria.

Photos of my Tiana and Naveen Disney Fairytale Designer Doll Set. I purchased it today at my local Disney Store, on its release day, Tuesday September 2014. There were only five persons entered in the drawing, and the store had 15 sets to sell. I got my set and opened it up at the register to make sure everything looked good. They looked perfect to me. I took a quick photo, with permission from the CM. In better lighting, the gold embroidery in her dress was much more impressive than I remembered it from looking at the display dolls. I also looked at the back, and it was #4872 of 6000. That was a nice number to me, so I declined the offer from the CM to look at another set to see if it had a lower number.
Elsa and Anna have been fully deboxed. They are standing side by side, supported by their included display stands.
