After we finished our collecting at the Baker Ranch, we drove to the Geode Kid's rockshop and this is one of several specimens I purchased there and the only polished one. Though darker than many, it has a uniqueness of being almost half and half, regarding the color change in the floating center. (for those interested, here is a link to information on the Geode Kid's collection and other information about thundereggs - www.zianet.com/geodekid/collecti.htm)

We have all seen photos of this beautifully designed barn with its fence in the Grand Teton National Park . . . but to be in its very presence is an honor and privilege. What a wonderful setting . . . would love to visit in the spring with the mountains covered in snow.
[Located in Grand Teton National Park, The historic TA Moulton barn is over 100 years old.
Started out of necessity to shelter his horses against the harsh winters of the Tetons and Jackson Hole, Thomas Alma Moulton didn’t know he was building a future landmark to a nation and mecca for photographers to come to. He and his two sons, Clark and Harley worked the land to provide for their families. They worked together along with their neighbors to carve out a meager existance along what was known as Mormon Row. Started in 1913, it took many years for the Grand Teton barn to be in its current form. First built as a square box, later on the peak and one lean to side was added. Later, when more room was needed, the other lean to side was added. This was a functional working barn. It was never intended to be the most photographed barn in America.
Two brothers, Thomas, John filed on their 160 acre homesteads in of 1907. A third brother, Wallace filed a year later. They had learned of the rich soil from other Mormon homesteaders who had filed before them. He first built a small cabin to live in during the summer while working the land and building on his barn. In 1912 Alma and Lucile and baby Clark, moved from Idaho to the homestead into a cabin with a dirt floor and not much more.

Beim Fotografieren des Wochenthemas „in einer Reihe“ von der Flickr Makrogruppe Macro Mondays fielen mir die attraktiven Holzperlen ein.
Ich dachte, das wäre ein weiteres reizvolles Motiv für ein Street Art Bild.
Es entstand das Problem, die Holzperlen spannend darzustellen.
Probierte vielerlei Positionen, Ausschnitte und Entfernungen zu den Holzperlen aus. Fotografierte dann in scharf / unscharf Einstellung die Holzperlen.
Dann der Konflikt der Darstellung der Fotografie. Holzperlen farbig darstellten oder in Schwarzweiß.
Fotografie digital bearbeitet.
Im Prozess der digitalen Bearbeitung gesehen, dass ich auf einem positiven Weg bin.
Am Ende ein digital gemaltes Makro Crypto-Art Bild entstanden, mit dem ich zufrieden bin.

While photographing the weekly theme „in a row“ from the Flickr macro group Macro Mondays, the attractive wooden beads came to mind.
I thought that would be another attractive motif for a street art picture.
The problem arose of presenting the wooden beads in an exciting way.
Tried different positions, sections and distances to the wooden beads. Then photographed the wooden beads in focus / out of focus.
Then the conflict of the representation of the photograph. Depicted wooden beads in color or in black and white.
Photograph digitally processed.
Seen in the process of digital editing that I’m on a positive path.
In the end, a digitally painted macro Crypto-Art picture was created, with which I am satisfied.
When I purchased these beautiful Gaillardias, the label mentioned that the flowers attracted Bees and Butterflies. Even before I transplanted them into a bigger pot, a blue Butterfly landed on one of the yellow blooms but I didn't have my camera handy. Today, both the yellow and the red Gaillardias attracted these lovely Common Grass Blue Butterflies. Larger species flew past them, though :( I hope they will stop to enjoy some nectar in the future ! /

Avant meme que je les transplante dans un pot plus grand. un mignon Papillon bleu s'etait pose sur l'une des fleurs jaunes mais je n'avais pas mon appareil photo a portee de main. Aujourd'hui, tant les fleurs jaunes que les rouges ont attire ces petits Papillons. Des Papillons de taille superieure ont juste survole les fleurs sans s'y arreter et j'espere que d'autres se laisseront tenter par leur nectar a l'avenir !

The last time I was on this part of Monterey Highway, it was still US101, before they built the bypass...I was with my half-brother enroute to Long Beach to purchase a Detroit Deisel 271 for his first salmon trawler...(it was the slowest boat in the fleet)...got a flat tire right about here too while it was over 100*...

One of the GP40TCs Amtrak purchased from GO Transit in the 1990s sits along Lumber St outside of the Amtrak shops in Chicago. These unique Geeps were built on stretched frames to accommodate HEP generators. Once GO was through with them, Amtrak picked them up as a stop-gap due to delays with the GE Genesis order. It seems like they mostly worked the short haul trains in the Midwest. After more power was acquired, these units were sent east for MOW work on the NEC, where they still work today, rebuilt as GP38H-3s. A scanned slide from my collection taken by J. M. Siedel.
Following the purchase of GWR Castle Class No.7029 Clun Castle in January 1966 by Patrick Whitehouse, the locomotive needed a base close to its central West Midlands supporters' base. Whitehouse found space available at Tyseley, on the site of the former GWR depot, and formed 7029 Clun Castle Ltd to own both the locomotive and the rights to stable it at the depot.
In October 1968, 7029 Clun Castle Ltd purchased LMS Jubilee Class No.5593 "Kolhapur". With further locomotives and railway artefacts available as a result of the Beeching Axe, the supporters established the Standard Gauge Steam Trust as a registered educational charity, to preserve and demonstrate the steam locomotives. Following negotiations the trust acquired a long-term lease on a large part of the Tyseley site, and established the Tyseley Collection which still owns the locomotives and artefacts via the limited company, the depot site became the "Birmingham Railway Museum".
The trust cleared buildings and repaired the dilapidated tracks, and two water columns were repaired to allow steam locomotives to stay at the site. In 1968 the old coaling stage was converted into a two-road shed with an inspection pit to hold both acquired locomotives. In November 1966 Clun Castle was stripped and restored.
In 1999 the trust achieved its long-held objective of running a regular steam train service on the national main line railway network: the Shakespeare Express between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stratford-upon-Avon. At this point the trust felt that the term museum was inappropriate for its new status, and hence separated its assets and operations into two new organisations, Tyseley Locomotive Works and the operating arm Vintage Trains, with the third arm remaining the Tyseley Collection.

Auf der Suche nach einem neuen Foto Motiv besuchte ich den Zoo in Dortmund. Mich begeisterte ein spannendes Geländer an einer Treppe.

Es entstand das Problem, das Geländer packend darzustellen.
Versuchte allerhand Blickwinkel, Auszüge und Abstände zu dem Geländer aus. Fotografierte dann das Geländer in scharf / unscharf.
Dann der Konflikt der Darstellung der Fotografie. Geländer ganz Darstellen oder einen Ausschnitt.

In search of a new photo motif, I visited the zoo in Dortmund. I was enthusiastic about an exciting railing on a staircase.
I thought this would be another excellent subject for a street art picture.
The problem arose of how to present the railing in a gripping way.
Tried all sorts of angles, excerpts and distances to the railing. Then photographed the railing in sharp / blurred.
Then the conflict of the representation of the photograph. Display railings in full or a section.
Photograph digitally processed.
Seen in the process of digital editing that I’m on a positive path.

Captured this with three RAW shots at -2..0..+2 EV. Digital blending in Photoshop CS6. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise. Topaz Clarity for boost in color and contrast.

Finally decided to get the pink Sugarminuet (Ballet-usa). I feel relieved that I have it now. :P

The tall ship Schooner Jolly II Rover was designed by Naval Architect Meritt Walter as a mercenary vessel and was built in 1994 by Bock Marine of Beaufort, North Carolina. The Rover’s hull is constructed out of steel and at 80′ long with her trademarks sails, topmast and square rig she is a magnificent sight under sail as well as sitting quietly dockside.
The amazing Schooner Jolly II Rover is proudly owned by Bill Malone and is operated out of Key West’s Historic Seaport. He purchased the Jolly II Rover in 2003 to fulfill a lifelong dream of operating a classic, square rigged, topsail schooner.
At the time of purchase, the Jolly Rover was in Fort Myers, Florida. With the help of enthusiastic friends, Bill sailed the Jolly Rover back to his adopted home of New Orleans. With his new team, “The Pirates of Lake Pontchartrain” he offered day and evening sails on Lake Pontchartrain with daily sailing trips, sunset sails and sailing charters.
Several years later you could say that fate intervened. Hurricane Katrina passed through New Orleans and blew the Jolly II Rover back to Florida where the tall ship belongs – among the traditional sailing ships, both mercenary & merchant, of the Historic Seaport of Key West.
