Nach drei Wochen verpuppen sich die Larven dieses Blattkäfers. Bis die Käfer schlüpfen hängen die Puppen kopfüber an den Blättern oder Stängeln ihrer Futterpflanze.

SWEETY (im Hut): “Ach hier ist es aber schön weich gepolstert, da kann ich es mir gemütlich machen.”

LUIS: “Nein, da passe ich schon auf Bärbel.”
BÄRBEL:”Ich habe hier einen Farnwedel, vielleicht schmeckt ihm der noch besser ?”

Den nächsten Halt bei unserer Rundreise durch Irland machten wir beim Lismore Castle. Wir wanderten durch die Gartenanlage, die wieder etwas anders aussah, als die bisher gesehenen.
BÄRBEL “Luis, komm doch her zu uns, wenn Opa ein Foto von uns mit Oma und Tante Ingrid macht !”
LUIS: “Ich komme gleich. Aber vorher darf ich noch ein Selfie mit Tante Ingrids Handy machen.”

LUIS: “Ja, ein paar. Hier in Irland sind die Pflanzen wirklich alle viel größer aus als bei uns !

The next stop on our tour of Ireland was Lismore Castle. We wandered through the gardens, which looked a little different from the ones we had seen so far.
BÄRBEL: ‘Luis, come over here when Grandpa takes a photo of us with Granny and Aunt Ingrid !’
LUIS: ‘I'll be right there. But first, I want to take a selfie with Aunt Ingrid's mobile phone.’
BÄRBEL: ‘Did you get those giant tulips in the picture too ?’
LUIS: ‘Yes, a few. Here in Ireland, the plants are really much bigger than at home !’

LUIS: “Wir spielen, dass wir alles in die Tasche einpacken und nach Australien verreisen. Da besuchen wir Miss Morgan und Merlin. Eine Merlin Figur habe ich da schon in der Hand !”
BÄRBEL: “Gute Idee ! Den neuen Bären nehmen wir auch mit !”

LUIS: ‘But you also have a Christmas bag with Australian animals on it. I have an idea, do you know what we can play?’
BÄRBEL: ‘No?’
LUIS: ‘Let's pretend we pack everything in the bag and travel to Australia. We'll visit Miss Morgan and Merlin. I already have a Merlin figure in my hand!’

Die Reise ging weiter und führte uns vom Wicklow Head nach Ashford in die Mount Usher Gardens.
OMA URSULA: “Hier ist es aber schön ! Kommt ihr zwei, ich mache ein Foto von euch.”
LUIS: “Bärbel, sag Kääääsekuchen.”
BÄRBEL:”Wieso denn ? Ich hätte jetzt lieber ein Eis.”
LUIS: “Aber nein, du bekommst eh keinen Käsekuchen, nur fürs Foto, damit du lächelst !”
BÄRBEL: “Ach so !"
BÄRBEL und LUIS: “KÄÄÄÄSEKUCHEN.”
LUIS: “Danke Oma für die kleine Tasche, in der wir Sweety nun tragen können, so kann sie nicht mehr verloren gehen !”
OMA URSULA: “Gerne, schließlich wollen wir nicht auch noch die Mount Usher Gardens nach Sweety absuchen. “ 😜

BÄRBEL: „Sind wir nun in Wien Luis ?“
LUIS: „Nein Bärbel, das Schild steht im Wasser und da steht Venedig drauf. Hier gibt es überhaupt viel Wasser finde ich. Ob das Wasserkühe sind ?“
BÄRBEL: „Ich weiß nicht, ich habe so ein Ding vorm Gesicht und kann nicht so gut sehen. Weißt du ob Sweety mitgekommen ist?“
LUIS: „Ja, sie sitzt in einem dieser eigenartigen Boote, die hier überall im Wasser fahren.“
SWEETY (zu sich selbst): „Gut, dass ich die Glocke gerettet habe ...“

BÄRBEL: “I don't know, I've got one of those things in front of my face and I can't see very well. Do you know if Sweety has come along ?”
LUIS: “Yes, she's in one of those strange boats that are all over the water here.”
SWEETY (to herself): “Good thing I saved the bell ...”

Am dritten Tag unserer Rundreise durch Irland fuhren wir zu der beeindruckenden altertümlichen Anlage, dem Rock of Cashel.
BÄRBEL “Oma, wie heißt das wo wir hier sind?
OMA URSULA: “Diese alte Burganlage heißt Rock of Cashel.”
LUIS: “Na so was, wieso habt ihr dann keine Röcke angezogen ?”
BÄRBEL: “Weil ich heute eine Hose ausgesucht und gebügelt habe. Aber schau Luis, diese schöne Steinfigur hat einen langen Rock an, wahrscheinlich heißt es deshalb so.”
LUIS: “Da unten ist noch so eine Burg, ist das auch ein Rock ?”
OMA URSULA: “Nein Luis, das ist eine ehemalige Abtei mit dem Namen ‘Hore Abbey’. Die schauen wir uns anschließend auch noch an.”

On the third day of our tour of Ireland, we drove to the impressive ancient site, the Rock of Cashel.
BÄRBEL: ‘Granny, what's the name of this place we're at?’
GRANNY URSULA: ‘This old castle complex is called the Rock of Cashel.’
LUIS: ‘Oh, I see. Then why aren't you wearing skirts ?’
(The German word for skirt is "Rock"!)
BÄRBEL: ‘Because I chose and ironed my trousers today. But look, Luis, this beautiful stone figure is wearing a long skirt (German:Rock), which is probably why it's called that.’
LUIS: ‘There's another castle down there. Is that a skirt (German: Rock) too?’
GRANNY URSULA: ‘No, Luis, that's a former abbey called Hore Abbey. We'll take a look at that later too.’

Die Spielsachen stammen aus mehreren Generationen. Die Puppenkredenz etwa ist um die 80 Jahre alt, der Herd hingegen ist sehr modern, der Baby-Hochstuhl improvisiert !😉

Nach der Besichtigung von Charles Fort fuhren wir nach Kinsale, wo wir einen Rundgang machten. Als Luis und Bärbel diese Sitzmöglichkeit fanden, nutzte ich dies gleich für ein Foto.
BÄRBEL: “Hier in Kinsel gefällt es mir besser als bei den kaputten Häusern.”
LUIS: “Ja Bärbel, außerdem gibt es hier einen Platz zum Sitzen.”
BÄRBEL: “Hast du diesen großen Anker hinter uns schon gesehen?”
LUIS:”Freilich. Aber hier in Irland ist ja alles richtig groß, nicht wahr?!”😂
SWEETY: “Ja zum Beispiel mein Hunger. Hoffentlich gibt’s bald etwas …”

After visiting Charles Fort, we drove to Kinsale, where we walked around. When Luis and Bärbel found this place to sit, I immediately took the opportunity to take a photo.

LUIS: "Bärbel, ist Sweety bei dir ?"
BÄRBEL: "Nein, ist sie denn nicht bei dir ?”
SWEETY (ruft vom Inneren des Autos durch die Fensterscheibe): “Haaaaaalloooooo !!!” 🙋
LUIS: “Ich sehe Sweety ! Opa, kannst du das Auto noch einmal aufsperren, Sweety möchte auch mitkommen zum Wasserfall.”
OPA RUDI: “Ja sicherlich. Aber bitte passt gut auf und verliert sie nicht wieder !” 😵

We went from Powerscourt Gardens on to Glenmacnass Waterfall in our hire car.
GRANNY URSULA: ‘Come on, children, let's walk a little way to the waterfall.’
LUIS: ‘Bärbel, is Sweety with you ?’
BÄRBEL: ‘No, isn't she with you ?’
SWEETY (calling from inside the car through the window): ‘Heeeeeeelloooooo !!!’ 🙋
LUIS: ‘I can see Sweety! Grandpa, can you unlock the car again ? Sweety wants to come to the waterfall too.’
GRANDPA RUDI: ‘Yes, of course. But please take good care of her and don't lose her again !’ 😵

Augenblicke mit einer Puppendame in Warnemünde – Am Alten Strom in Warnemünde kann man ganz viele Hüte und Mützen, auch mit maritimem Flair kaufen.

LUIS: ‘Be careful, Bärbel! She might sneeze and cast a spell on you, and then you'll grow a nose like hers.’
BÄRBEL: ‘Oh no, better not then!’😳
LITTLE WITCH: ‘Those two are quirky, they haven't seen my nose yet, hihihi!’😂

Das Bügeln musste auf den nächsten Morgen verlegt werden, da die Männer schon zu hungrig waren. Zu Fuß unterwegs kamen wir am Kilkenny Castle vorbei.
BÄRBEL “Luis, da steht ein schöner Anhänger, ob das vielleicht ein Postkarten-Kiosk ist ?”
LUIS: “Vielleicht, aber hast du schon die große Burg hinter dir gesehen ?”
BÄRBEL: “Wow ! In dem Turm wohnt sicherlich Rapunzel ! Oder Scoutpunzel, oder Rosiepunzel oder Sweetypunzel oder Aurorapunzel oder ...”
OMA URSULA: “Auf jeden Fall irgendein “Punzel” !! 😂

The ironing had to be postponed until the next morning because the men were already too hungry. On our walk, we passed Kilkenny Castle.
BÄRBEL: ‘Luis, there's a nice trailer there. Could it be a postcard kiosk ?’
LUIS: ‘Maybe, but have you seen the big castle behind you ?’
BÄRBEL: ‘Wow ! Rapunzel must live in that tower ! Or Scoutpunzel, or Rosiepunzel, or Sweetypunzel, or Aurorapunzel, or...’

Bei unserem Besuch in den Powerscourt Gardens waren wir nun beim Tritonsee mit den Pegasus-Statuen angelangt.
LUIS: "Wow, ist das ein riesiges Pferd !"
BÄRBEL: "Aber das ist kein gewöhnliches Pferd, das hat ja Flügel.”
OMA URSULA: "Genau, diese Pferde nennt man Pegasus."
LUIS: „Glaubst du leicht, wenn du mit den Armen wachelst, dass das Pegus-Pferd davon fliegt, Bärbel ?“ 😅
SWEETY denkt: “Wohl kaum, vorher falle ich aus Luis’ Hemdtasche !” 😮

During our visit to Powerscourt Gardens, we had now arrived at Lake Triton with the Pegasus statues.
LUIS: ‘Wow, that's a huge horse !’
BÄRBEL: ‘But that's no ordinary horse, it has wings.’
GRANNY URSULA: 'Exactly, these horses are called Pegasus.'
LUIS: ‘Do you really think that the Pegu’s horse will fly away if you wave your arms, Bärbel ?’ 😅
SWEETY thinking: ‘Hardly, I'll fall out of Luis' shirt pocket first !’ 😮

Im Sattental hat es uns gut gefallen, da war kein steiler Weg. Dafür gab es viele Kühe und wir wanderten bis zu einer Almhütte.

Hello everyone who stayed at home !
We enjoyed the Sattental valley, as there was no steep path. Instead, there were lots of cows and we hiked up to an alpine hut.

Den nächsten Tag begannen wir mit einem Ausflug nach Vrsar, wo wir an dieser lebensgroßen Figur eines sehr bekannten Mannes vorbei kamen.
“Das ist ein lustiges Foto Bärbel, da klettere ich auf die Bank zu dem eisernen Mann.
Wie hieß der noch … irgendwas mit Käse …?”
“Tschako Käsenowa hieß er, Luis !”

We started the next day with a trip to Vrsar, where we passed this life-size figure of a very well-known man.
"That's a funny photo Bärbel, I climbed up on the bench to the iron man.
What was his name ... something about ‘Käse’ (the German word for ‘cheese ‘) ... ?"
"Chako Kazenova was his name, Luis !"

OMA URSULA: “Seht mal hier ! Habt ihr schon einmal so eine große Azalee gesehen ?”
LUIS: “Wow, hier in Irland ist alles so riesig ! Oma, borgst du mir deinen Fotoapparat für ein Foto ?”
OMA URSULA: “Freilich, möchtest du die Blüten fotografieren ?”
LUIS:”Nein Oma. Ich möchte Bärbel und Sweety fotografieren. Sweetys Tasche hat genau die Farbe wie die Azalee !”
BÄRBEL: “Tatsächlich ! Sweety, wir müssen nun wieder KÄSEKUCHEN sagen.” 😊

LUIS: ‘Wow, everything is so huge here in Ireland ! Granny, may I borrow your camera to take a photo?’
GRANNY URSULA: ‘Of course, would you like to photograph the flowers?’
LUIS: ‘No, Granny. I want to photograph Bärbel and Sweety. Sweety's bag is exactly the same colour as the Azalea !’
BÄRBEL: ‘'Indeed ! Sweety, we have to say CHEESE again now.’ 😊

An einem 5. Juli kam Luis in unsere Familie und daher ist dies sein Geburtstag !!
Luis came into our family on a 5th of July and so this is his Birthday !!
Luis und Bärbel waren sehr glücklich die kleine Sweety in den Powerscourt Gardens wieder gefunden zu haben. Nun essen die drei begeistert Schokolade.
LUIS: "Der Schokoriegel ist lecker Oma."
OMA URSULA: “Das freut mich. Das ist eine Cadbury Schokolade, die gibt es bei uns daheim nicht !”
BÄRBEL: "Aha, Kedböri, das muss ich mir merken. Die mit Mint schmeckt mir am besten !”
LUIS: “Ich glaube, die Vögel warten darauf, dass sie etwas von uns abbekommen ! Dürfen wir ihnen etwas geben Oma ?”
OMA URSULA: “Nein besser nicht. Sonst lockt ihr noch viel mehr Vögel an und wer weiß ob sie Schokolade vertragen.”
LUIS: “Schmeckt sie Dir auch Sweety ?”
SWEETY (mit vollem Mund nickend): “Mmmpf”

Luis and Bärbel were very happy to have found little Sweety again in Powerscourt Gardens. Now the three of them are enjoying eating chocolate.
LUIS: ‘The chocolate bar is delicious, Granny.‘
GRANNY URSULA: ‘I'm glad to hear that. It's Cadbury chocolate, which we don't have at home !‘
BÄRBEL: ‘Oh, Kedböri, I must remember that. The mint one tastes best to me !
LUIS: ‘I think the birds are waiting for us to give them something ! Can we give them something, Grandma?’
GRANNY URSULA: ‘No, better not. Otherwise you'll attract even more birds, and who knows if they can tolerate chocolate.’
LUIS: ‚Do you like it too, Sweety ?’
SWEETY (nodding with her mouth full): ‘Mmmpf’

Endlich in Opatija angekommen machten wir wieder eine Pause bei der Villa Angiolina im dazugehörigen mediterranen Park.
"Der Park mit dem schönen Haus Angola hat mir gut gefallen, aber du bist mit Sweety falsch herum gesessen Bärbel !"
"Keine Sorge, wir haben es schon gesehen Luis ! Es hieß aber nicht Angola sondern Angelina !"

When we finally arrived in Opatija, we took another break at Villa Angiolina in its mediterranean park.
"I liked the park with the beautiful Angola house, but you were sitting the wrong way round with Sweety, Bärbel !"
"Don't worry, we've already seen it Luis ! But it wasn't called Angola, it was called Angelina !"
