I edited another frame of the little black seal pup this morning, given it's rarity ( only 1 in 400 turn black rather than grey ), it may be a while before I get another shot ;o)
I've been visiting these pups for about a month now. They seem very content with my presence (until their mom sees me) and I'm very careful not to invade their space. They're starting to look so mature, ready to start hunting for their own food soon. I can also hear them howling at night with mom and some of the other adults. It's fun to watch they grow.

Each year during the months of November and December grey seals come to the beach of Donna Nook (Lincolnshire - UK) to give birth to their pups. After a week or three, when the pups are weaned, the females are ready to mate, causing bloody fights among the competing bulls.
The area is near an RAF bombing range, but the seals don’t seem to be disturbed by the noise of the planes. They are even doing better than elsewhere in the UK. Donna Nook turns out to be a safe place, and has the best statistics for pup survivals. But Unfortunately there is also a downside: some of the visitors and photographers get too close to the seals, so that the mothers panic and abandon their pups. For that reason we decided to stay in the fenced area and not to go out on the beach. In fact, later we heard from other people that they found quite a few dead pups near the shoreline …

A new born seal pup just waking up from a late afternoon snooze, lapping up some of the last rays from the sun on a bright December afternoon, just chillin.
I went round to see a friend whose dog has recently had puppies. I only got two shots I liked, but I'm going back on Thursday to take the kids to see them, so will try to get some better ones then.
This pup was tired from lots of playing, and was settling down to sleep.
A pup from a coyote litter of 3. Despite its appearance, the pup isn't restrained by the chain link fence. They move about freely in this abandoned utility yard and this one isn't trapped.
Children who visited the museum could take part in "Pup Patrol" - they could wear dog costumes designed by Nara and wander around the museum. This room also had the "Pup Up the Dog" exhibit - a giant, soft, white king of a pup who was very sleepy.

Just 3 weeks old, these Shih Tzu pups are yet to be named, but I understand they will all start with an 'A'. Aren't they the cutest?

I had my canon 100-400ii and I wish I would of hiked in with my Canon 500mm lens. 3 otter pups where playing on a sandbar. I watched for about 40 min before the family left.
This pup is no more or less precocious than the others,
but he constantly catches my eye. A very handsome
fox!

I was hoping to find some fox kits this afternoon, but stumbled across a couple of coyote pups instead. At about 2 months old they're on their own and going about their business (sniffing stuff, finding dinner). Their behavior struck me as more purposeful than that of domestic pups of the same age. A fox this age would have bolted, but they didn't seem to care about me very much.
(Their parents may have something to do with my not finding any fox kits, what with the larger dog generally not tolerating - and eating - the smaller one.)

Halichoerus grypus. One of over 700 really cute seal pups at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire. This is a young pup, probably less than a week old and he seemed to like chewing the end of his flipper. Perhaps this is like a child biting their finger nails or a baby sucking their thumb, who knows? In another couple of weeks he will have grown a lot, shed his white puppy fur and will head off alone into the north sea. Amazing that they enter the sea for the first time and then learn to fish very quickly.
