(Helmeted-Duo): Known for French house-Electronic-Dance-Disco

Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo & Thomas Bangalter

Daft Punk are a French electronic music duo formed in Paris in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. They achieved popularity in the late 1990s as part of the French house movement, and had success in the years following, combining elements of house music with funk, techno, disco, rock, and synthpop. They have worn ornate helmets and gloves to assume robot personas in most public appearances since 1999 and rarely grant interviews or appear on television. The duo were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (also known as Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records.

After Bangalter and Homem-Christo's indie rock band Darlin' disbanded, they began experimenting with drum machines and synthesisers. Their debut studio album Homework was released by Virgin Records in 1997 to positive reviews, backed by singles "Around the World" and "Da Funk". Their second album, Discovery, had further success, supported by hit singles "One More Time", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". In March 2005, Daft Punk released their third album, Human After All, to mixed reviews, though the singles "Robot Rock" and "Technologic" achieved success in the United Kingdom. Daft Punk toured throughout 2006 and 2007 and released the live album Alive 2007, which won a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. They composed the score for the film Tron: Legacy, which was released in 2010 alongside its soundtrack album.

In 2013, Daft Punk left Virgin for Columbia Records, and released their fourth album, Random Access Memories, to acclaim; lead single "Get Lucky" reached the top 10 in the charts of 32 countries. Random Access Memories won five Grammy Awards in 2014, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for "Get Lucky". In 2016, Daft Punk gained their first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song "Starboy", a collaboration with The Weeknd. As of 2015, Daft Punk had sold over 12 million albums worldwide

I intended to do a lawyer's wig at first, but I liked the punk wig better.

The punk subculture, which centres on punk rock music, includes a diverse array of ideologies, fashions and forms of expression, including visual art, dance, literature and film. The subculture is largely characterized by anti-establishment views and the promotion of individual freedom. Although punks are frequently categorised as having left-wing or progressive views, punk politics cover the entire political spectrum. Punk-related ideologies are mostly concerned with individual freedom and anti-establishment views.

Now that's clear, how about the tampons?

Rules in Dutch translates as 'regels'. When a woman is having her period, we say 'zij heeft haar regels' ('she is having her rules').

The use of the word 'regels' may derive from the rules associated with menstruating woman in different cultures. 'Regels' may also derive from 'regelmatig' meaning 'regularity', refering to the 'regular' 28,5 days cyclus.

In German a woman's period is called 'Regelnblutung'.

Last reference; Tampon was a mid '90's Turkish female punk rock band a.k.a. Tampax.

Another from the archives, this was taken in 2008, at a 'One Camera, One Lens' meet.

This was taken on my old Minolta 7000, using the Minolta 50mm f1/7 lens that I got with it, as my first SLR many, many moons ago... The film was an out-dated (but still, obviously, usable) roll of Jessops own-brand 100ASA colour print film.

This was taken while walking along the Grand Union Canal, in Hackney. Because of the size of the design, and the fact that I was only allowed a single, prime, lens, the backs of my feet were hanging over the canal, while I put my weight on my toes to get this shot. Strangely, no-one else in the group went for it...

Punk ? Oder doch nur noch ein bißchen verschlafen ?

Lastly, here's the back of the Punk Couture packaging. The actual fashions look a little different from the box art, but they're awesome! Mystixx is on the right track and I cant wait to see what else they have planned for this brand!

punk walking across waterloo bridge in the fog, sadly I was on my last shot (the curse of film) and she never turned her head to show off the several spikes of hair that blend into one here.

Camden Town, London. Camden has a very diverse background. It's probably my favourite place in London. Rich in Colour and faces well worth a visit if you ever make to London

El concierto de Daft Punk en el SUE 2006 estuvo alucinante. Teloneado magistralmente por DJ Shadow con un show casi tan alucinante. Una de las mejores noches de mi vida. Videos en YouTube.

I'm a jerk and I cannot remember the names of the woman on the left and the guy on the right, but Scruff is in the middle. Amazing woman who ran the main punk warehouse space in the mid nineties. Actually, ALL the punks we met in NZ were just brilliant folx all around.

2008 Update: The woman on the left is named Kalya/Kalia (sp?!) and I forgot to ask dear Ross how to spell it when I was grilling him on the 'Where are they now' status of many NZ punks last week as he drove us around the North Island. Still don't know the name of the guy on the right. I am still a jerk. I HEART New Zealand!!!
