The pulsating action and unique light catching qualities of this olive sparkle leech fly make it a useful pattern in most trout lakes around the world. It is most effectively fished on a sinking or intermediate line wherever trout may be cruising or suspended.

My hack: a wearable proximity sensor, which allows traffic travelling behind cyclists to see via pulsating red/amber/green pulsating heart if they're travelling to close to the cyclist. I had to hurry to finish the functionality, so it's not so pretty - but I'm going to tidy it up. All told I made it in a evening and an afternoon, so that's not long to design, code and build an electronic wearable!

The Danube River in Budapest:

A Symphony of History and Beauty

The Danube River is not just a body of water flowing through Budapest; it’s the city’s pulsating heart, a timeless witness to history, culture, and unending beauty. As an expert in Budapest’s enchanting attractions, I invite you to join me on a journey along the Danube. This river divides the city into Buda and Pest and unites its spirit and legacy.

A Lifeline Weaving Through History

Flowing through the core of Budapest, the Danube River tells a story that spans centuries. From the majestic Buda Castle perched on its banks to the imposing Parliament building, each landmark along the river reflects a chapter of Budapest’s storied past. The river has been a silent observer of history, witnessing the rise and fall of empires and the city’s evolution into a modern metropolis.

Bridging the Gap Between Past and Present

As evening descends, the Danube transforms into a magical spectacle. The Chain Bridge, one of the many bridges spanning the river, lights up, creating a stunning visual connection between the historic Buda and the vibrant Pest. This iconic bridge symbolizes the seamless blend of past and present that characterizes Budapest.

Connecting Cultures and People

The Danube’s significance extends beyond its geographic role; it’s a cultural and spiritual connector. The river flows through multiple countries, each contributing to its rich tapestry of experiences. In Budapest, the Danube becomes a meeting point for locals and travelers alike, each drawn to its banks to experience the city’s heartbeat.

Experiencing the Danube’s Melody

There are countless ways to embrace the Danube’s charm. A cruise along its waters offers a unique perspective of Budapest’s landmarks, while a stroll along its promenades provides a more intimate experience with the river’s serene beauty. For many, simply sitting by its side, watching the flow of water and life, is enough to feel connected to the city’s rhythm.

A Symbol of Timeless Beauty

The Danube in Budapest is more than just a scenic backdrop; it symbolizes the city’s enduring allure. Its waters mirror the changing skies and the cityscape’s evolving silhouette, offering a tranquil yet dynamic canvas that captivates all who gaze upon it.

The Danube River’s Hungarian section is a region rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Here are several facts about this part of the Danube:

Geographical Significance: The Danube is Europe’s second longest river, after the Volga. It flows through 10 countries, more than any other river globally. Hungary runs through several major cities, including Budapest, the capital, which is famously split into Buda and Pest by the river.

Historical Importance: The Danube has played a pivotal role in Hungary’s history and development. It was a crucial part of the Roman Empire’s frontiers and has been a significant trade route throughout history. Hungary’s many historical events, battles, and cultural developments have centered around the Danube.

Cultural and Architectural Heritage: Along the Hungarian section of the Danube, there are several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Budapest’s Danube banks, the Buda Castle Quarter, and Andrássy Avenue are notable examples. The Danube Bend, near the town of Visegrád, is famed for its scenic beauty and historical castles.

Ecological Significance: The Danube Delta begins in Hungary and is one of the world’s largest and best-preserved deltas. It’s a vital habitat for fish and bird species, making it a crucial area for biodiversity and conservation efforts.

Economic Impact: The Danube is vital for Hungary’s economy, especially in sectors like transport, fishing, and tourism. River cruises along the Danube are particularly popular, providing a unique way to experience the beauty and history of the region.

Engineering Feats: The river has several important dams and hydroelectric power stations. The Gabčíkovo–Nagymaros Dams project, although controversial and subject to a long-standing dispute between Slovakia and Hungary, is one example of the significant engineering projects on the river.

Cultural Events and Festivals: Numerous cultural events and festivals take place along the Hungarian stretch of the Danube, celebrating everything from music and art to food and wine, reflecting the region’s rich cultural tapestry.

Mythology and Literature: The Danube in Hungary has inspired countless myths, legends, and literary works. Hungarian poetry and literature often depicts it as a symbol of beauty, power, and continuity.

These aspects make the Danube’s Hungarian section a vital waterway and a symbol of national pride, steeped in history and cultural significance.

In conclusion, the Danube River in Budapest is a must-experience for anyone seeking to understand the city’s essence. It’s a flowing symphony of history, beauty, and cultural convergence, inviting you to lose yourself in its rhythm and become part of Budapest’s living, breathing story. As you explore this majestic river, let it guide you through the heart of a city where every ripple and wave tells a tale of time’s passage and the enduring spirit of a place called Budapest.

This one got a darker tone, moody, pulsating neons, leaking atmospheric lights the way I think cyberpunk should be. But not just that. It was hard to compensate the ugly yellow

Some places were almost unplayable with all effects turned on due to the blinding white, so I assigned a toggle on/off hotkey for bloom/magic bloom settings and another for ambient lights to tune down the light expansion. For all the effects working 100% at the time, it should be necessary to edit the level lights (and AFAIK it's impossible right now) or painstakingly micromanage for test and error the pixel range for every effect from this preset every corner of the game.

Relentless pressure from Australia's bowlers, in particular Brett Lee, proved too much for England in a pulsating finish to the second VB series final at Melbourne. Lee took three wickets in the 48th and 50th overs to deny England after their victory target had appeared well within reach. Australia have taken the series, with the third final at Adelaide now unnecessary.

England's reply began badly, with Brett Lee's express pace again undoing Marcus Trescothick, who found Andy Bichel at third man with an upper cut. The promotion of Ronnie Irani to number three backfired again as the Essex captain, after swinging Williams for one mid-wicket boundary, was well caught there in the same over close to the rope by Andrew Symonds, whose sunglasses served him well against the evening glare.

Knight, who had looked uncomfortable against Lee, was a little unfortunate to pick out Symonds at backward square leg with a firm push. But Michael Vaughan and Nasser Hussain settled England down, Vaughan with fine timing either side of the wicket and Hussain with some good fortune, edging Lee between keeper and slip and almost perishing when the ubiquitous Symonds couldn't quite hold on to a chance by the rope at deep square leg.

Shane Warne, making his one-day farewell to the MCG, was held back until the 23rd over. When he did come on he was feted by his home crowd, but it was Brad Hogg who made the breakthrough in the next over, when Hussain (28) lost his off stump hitting across the line. But Alec Stewart joined Vaughan to maintain the momentum, with 13 runs coming off Warne in the 27th over. A Matthew Hayden misfield on the mid-wicket boundary gave Vaughan his half-century.

Australia made the breakthrough they desperately needed when Vaughan, on 60, clipped Warne straight to Ricky Ponting at short mid-wicket. With the pressure mounting Stewart responded magnificently, driving Warne for ten runs off three balls to keep England on target. He went to his half century with an inside edged two in the same bowler's next over, but his terrific effort was also halted by Warne, when an airborne cut was held safely by Lee at short third man.

A booming boundary over extra cover got Andy Flintoff under way, and another in Warne's final over brought up England's 200. Paul Collingwood kept his cool with a succession of ones and twos, but Lee struck immediately on his return to york Flintoff for 16. Ian Blackwell lashed Lee to a diving Damien Martyn at deep gully, and the force was back with Australia.

A leg-side yorker was deflected on to Andy Caddick's stumps off his toes, and James Anderson was run out off his second ball, looking for a single after failing to make contact. After being favourites to win five overs from the end, England had the game stolen from them at the death.

Earlier an unbeaten 71 from Brad Hogg enabled Australia to fight back after a middle order collapse. A batting onslaught in the last ten overs propelled Australia to 229 for seven, with Hogg receiving sterling support first from Lee and then from Bichel.

In a twist so typical of this unpredictable game Warne, having been cheered all the way to the wicket on his farewell batting appearance in ODIs, was caught and bowled first ball by Irani. If there was dismay as he walked off, the cheering more than made up for it in the end, as Australia's champion was chaired off by his team at the moment of victory.

For the calibration of relatively short distances the team observed Cepheid variables. These are pulsating stars which fade and brighten at rates that are proportional to their true brightness and this property allows astronomers to determine their distances. The researchers calibrated the distances to the Cepheids using a basic geometrical technique called parallax. With Hubble’s sharp-eyed Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), they extended the parallax measurements further than previously possible, across the Milky Way galaxy. To get accurate distances to nearby galaxies, the team then looked for galaxies containing both Cepheids and Type Ia supernovae. Type Ia supernovae always have the same intrinsic brightness and are also bright enough to be seen at relatively large distances. By comparing the observed brightness of both types of stars in those nearby galaxies, the team could then accurately measure the true brightness of the supernova. Using this calibrated rung on the distance ladder the accurate distance to additional 300 type Ia supernovae in far-flung galaxies was calculated. They compare those distance measurements with how the light from the supernovae is stretched to longer wavelengths by the expansion of space. Finally, they use these two values to calculate how fast the universe expands with time, called the Hubble constant.

Once green and pulsating with life

kissed by the morning sunshine

and bathed in the misty dew

dry brittle leaves

silently fall to the ground

passing winds stir, sift and swirl them

into open grounds, forgotten vacant lots

green pastures and cobbled streets

They quiver,

shiver

and fall silently

footsteps pestle them to dust

but these little waifs

never question their fate

Carried by the swift currents

they meet whirlpools and rocky shores,

rapids and precipices

only to disappear forever

culminating their journey of life

Such is the fate of man

riding on the winds of time

carried by the river of life

he too slowly vanishes

into the realms of unknown...
