In a rare sight these days, three gray units smoke up the sky pulling hard across the I-10 bridge westbound through Houston. KCS 654, KCS 692, and an unidentified AC4400CW unit roll through town with two tarped locomotives bound for Mexico on the MSHMXJ train. Sadly, the SD40 units seen here are now gone off the roster.

Trying a different technique (changing focus during the exposure); very tricky. I'm intrigued by the highlights in this shot!

Thanks to DB for steering me the right direction.

It is a crazy notion to think that the moon, roughly 240,000 miles away from the Earth, can exhibit its subtle influence on a body as massive as the ocean, changing.... nay causing tides. And to think, as I sit there watching all that slowly happen that that same moon all those thousands of miles away has its pull on me too. In that respect the ocean and I have something in common.

A bit of a bubble swirl in this one.

With the Y119 turn from Saginaw on the drawbar, LSRC 6431 and friends pull into the former PM/C&O/CSX McGrew Yard in Flint, MI.

With the return train (and power) for Saginaw already staged at the north end of the yard, the crew will tie this train down and then hop on their return ride home. Lake State runs a tight ship, and this crew will get to sleep in their own beds tonight.

LSRC 6431 was formerly UP 4608, purchased by the Lake State in 2022.

Maybe it's just been one of those days, gut does anyone ever feel like everyone is pulling your life in a different direction? Like everyone has control over your life but yourself? well i decided this picture sort of depicted how i've been feeling. Although i think this is all probably due to reading too much Hamlet and sleep deprivation. And yes, this picture is extremely grainy.. I'm sorry. It's very hard to shoot one handed.

Climber up here with a broken hand, it wasn't pretty ; /

In a gloomy November afternoon right after thanksgiving, M452-28 pulls up to Beaver Street in Baldwin to drop off their 31 autoracks in Baldwin yard. After dropping their autoracks, they would pull all of their 117 Waycross bound cars North.

Somehow, the one of the handful of dash-8's on actual CSX mainline trackage (besides PanAm territory) would lead this train all the way to Waycross from Miami.

In run 8 as the headend rolls toward the final grade crossing as they climb towards to summit of Mullan Pass. This is a fine piece of railroad I am sad to see it returned to the BNSF.
