The Governor also issued two proclamations to recognize May 21 - May 27 as Emergency Medical Services Week and May 24 as Emergency Medical Services for Children Day. The ceremony to honor the fallen EMS providers took place at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, in observance of EMS Week.
"Today we recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by eight of New York's brave uniformed public servants," Governor Hochul said. They were, therefore, soldiers from the Fortress of São Lourenço, assigned to the service of the Ilhéu. In the petition, they narrated how an oratory had been erected, but that it was ''with great indecency, without the proper ornament''. They then intended to make ''a hermitage, in part of the same Fortress that would not do damage'' ending by asking the future sovereign to build the chapel, committing to pay for the images, altarpiece and other necessary ornaments. The Prince Regent favorably dispatched the petition on November 9th 1672, determining to measure the place and that ''with as little expense as possible'', if the construction was carried out.
However, the order only came to Funchal ten years later, dispatched from Lisbon on October 27th , 1682 and registered in Funchal on January 28th, 1683. It must have finished, with a cistern, in 1687, according to the epigraphic inscription ''This church and cistern was built by Governor and Captain General Pedro de Lima in the year 1687'' There is news that its first chaplain was Father Manuel de Andrade, with an annual salary of 18$. In 1698 its first Constable, Simão Fernandes Forte, was appointed, when it was garrisoned by 12 Artillerymen with a salary of 30 réis a day. At that time, fishermen were forced to carry food to the island without any remuneration. However, in extreme cases, if the sea prevented it altogether, a cable was launched ashore to help the isolated Garrison. The Fortress began to work independently of that of São Lourenço in the last quarter of the 17th century. The Fort was no longer insulated with the construction of the Pontinha Breakwater, which is built into it. According to ''Elucidário'' in 1921 it had a traffic light station and a beacon. Currently, the Design Center Nini Andrade Silva is located inside.

After a falling out with Charter, decided to try AT&T .... again. The installer acted like he worked for a company that cared! What a change from previous dealings with AT&T! The picture is super and the features are fantastic. He did not leave until tv and two computers work! I'll be busy trying to understand how work all of the features!
