June 11, 2025 - Kinshasa, DRC: The MONUSCO Police Special Protection Team against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SPT-SGBV) in Kinshasa held an awareness session at the Congolese National Police's Child Protection and Sexual Violence Prevention Unit (EPEPVS) in Lingwala neighborhood. The session was conducted in partnership with PNC officials Colonel Mimi and Major Ndaya for eight women leaders from the communes of Maluku, Kimbanseke, and Tshangu.
The training focused on preventing and responding to sexual violence within families, emphasizing the leaders' crucial role in addressing such cases. Participants learned about collaborating with judicial police officers (OPJ) from EPEPVS through proper case referrals and the importance of discouraging families from seeking informal resolutions instead of reporting incidents through official channels.
