It’s time men face some startling health facts:
- 1 in 4 Canadians will die from cancer.
- 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
- Men commit suicide three times as often as women.
- A man is 35% more likely to develop prostate cancer than a woman is to develop breast cancer.
- 1 in 20 Canadians- at least 1/3 million people aged 12 and over- have diabetes.
- More than 9 out of 10 Canadians will develop high blood pressure (hypertension) unless they follow a healthy lifestyle.

Today, 5 October 2025, our temperature is only 2°C (feels 0°C)!!! Supposed to reach a high of 7°C by mid-afternoon. I am SO not ready for this! I also noticed that snowflake icons show up for in about a week's time : ( Sure hope the weather forecast changes.
These photos were taken seven days ago, on 28 September 2025, when my daughter and I drove SW of the city for a very special reason. It was the day for the fifth annual Distinguished Gentleman's Drive! We went last year for the very first time and I've really been looking forward to this year's event. As well as enjoying seeing the 37 beautiful old cars and trucks that were taking part, we also saw several Red-tailed Hawks and old barns/homestead in the area. Driving for men's health:
"The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for men's health. Specifically, we and Movember are working together to combat prostate cancer and mental health impacting men all around the world. The funds we raise build vital programs and fund life-saving research, as we encourage those close to us to take care of themselves, the same way we care for our cars."
Growing up in Birmingham, England, till I was 22, (but then leaving to live overseas in a few countries), I spent time around old things, mainly old steam trains, steam rollers, steam tractors, etc.. My father was always a passionate photographer. He took so many photos of me (and my brother), but also of the old trains and so on. After he died in 1976 at the age of 69, and then my mother in 1998 and my brother a few years after that, amazing, long-time friends in England went through all my parents and brother's belongings and shipped a lot of special things to me here in Canada. Amongst them were my father's old cameras and even a few of mine starting from when I was around 11 years old, if not earlier. Several old photo albums and many loose photos and slides were also so gratefully received by me. Lots of photos of the old steam trains, steam tractors, and other things. A huge number of photos were donated (by my friends) to various Museums, Midlands Archive place, etc..
So, I have grown up with a real interest in old things. The chance to see and photograph a group of beautiful classic cars could not be missed. I had wanted to do this for a few years, but the larger old car shows seem to be huge, with far too many people for my liking. This special event was much smaller and so relaxed and enjoyable, though we only had about 15 minutes in which to take our photos before the cars left for their final destination.
