“Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” is a Bestseller

Biblio Distribution has announced that “Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” is a bestseller, falling within the top sales tier of all the active titles that Biblio Distribution carries.

“Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery” describes how inadequately surgery treats prostate cancer and describes the side effects of surgery in graphic detail. The book also describes alternative, and less harmful, ways to treat prostate cancer such as cryosurgery, radiation therapy, radiation seed implants, hormone blockade, herbal medications, estrogen, watchful waiting, and active non-invasive therapy.

“In the recent randomized controlled trial by Bill-Axelson et al., there was only a 5 percent increase in survival for the men who underwent surgery after 10 years of follow-up,” says the book’s author, Dr. Bradley Hennenfent, “and, there was no increase in survival at all for men over the age of 65 who underwent surgery. Clearly, most surgery for prostate cancer has been a failure, because it’s been ineffective, and it has caused side effects.”

“In my experience, men often go into prostate cancer surgery thinking it’s going to be 80, 90, or 100 percent effective,” says Dr. Hennenfent, “while, in fact, the opposite is true.”

Dr. Hennenfent has seen five uncles suffer from prostate cancer and has seen them treated by various methods. He co-founded the Prostatitis Foundation (www.Prostatitis.org), founded the Epididymitis Foundation (www.EpididymitisFoundation.org), and founded the Acoustic Neuroma Foundation (www.AcousticNeuromaFoundation.org). He previously published "The Prostatitis Syndromes." The doctor also penned a reality TV show called, “Presidential Contender.”

"Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery" can be found in fine bookstores everywhere. It's $19.95, a trade paperback, 334 pages, 34 chapters, ISBN Number: 0-9717454-1-2. Twenty-seven illustrations and cartoons are included within the book, which also includes an extensive index.

The website for the book is www.SurvivingProstateCancerWithoutSurgery.org.

Singer Dan Hill remembers what it was like growing up in Toronto in the 50s. His black father and white mother couldn't rent an apartment. But now? Hill, speaking at the launch of this year's Caribbean Carnival, said that life is good. He also talked about beating prostate cancer - a disease that hits Caribbean males more than any other group of men! George Socka shot a 3 minute video on Dan Hill's talk at www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cFViNxEkTA&feature=share&...

After leaving Victoria, BC, in late May, two cyclists have finally reached the end of their journey.

Sam Wade and Brian Tong spent an hour in Clarenville on August 3 buying groceries and eating lunch. It was their penultimate stop before the two 20-year-olds reach their final destination, St. John’s.

“It’s so exciting to see the (road) signs. It’s always just been really distant,” said Wade. “Two months ago, who would’ve ever thought we’d ever been in the Maritimes?”

They were part of a cross-country bicycle tour called Pedalers for Prostate. The mission is to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. Funds raised will go to the Prostate Centre in Victoria.

“We’ve raised over $11,000,” said Wade. “My main message is that one in six males get prostate cancer and this statistic can be reduced because it’s entirely preventable. So get checked regularly.”

The idea for biking across Canada came while the boys were in high school several years ago. They joked one night about how “good” a cyclist Wade was and how they should trek across Canada.

Once Wade’s grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008, they realized a cross-country bike tour could be a feasible way to raise support for the cause of prostate cancer awareness.

“Having spent last summer with him, I really got to know him and he impacted me greatly,” said the younger Wade. “I took it upon myself to really honour him.”

“At this age, we’re also looking for an adventure,” he added.

Wade’s grandfather was treated in France and he recovered shortly before the start of Pedalers for Prostate’s journey.

Their friends Tevis Bateman and Fred Tsai also joined the tour but ended their journey in Halifax.

Wade and Tong say they have learned much from their experience.

“You definitely have to ask for help and count on friends and people close to you if you want to make it through such a long and trying time,” said Wade.

“There’s still a lot of good people out there,” said Tong, reflecting on the journey. Along the way, he said, people have been hospitable in offering a place in their homes. They spent many of their nights camping.

The two have enjoyed cycling through Newfoundland.

“You’ve got crazy hills and the rain. It was like the whole Newfoundland experience,” Tong told Transcontinental Media. “We started off with the (Rockie) mountains and we’re going to finish off with the hills in St. John’s. The trip has come full circle.”

Although the ride has come to a close after almost two years of preparation, Wade said this is just the beginning.

“I’d like to do even more fundraising,” he said. He also mentioned he would like to tackle other health issues he believes in, such as nutrition.

As of today, there are 323 Breat Cancer groups on flickr. There are two prostate cancer specific groups.

And breast cancer has a pink ribbon that everyone has on their cars, bookbags, and even bodies.

Why the lack of support for prostate cancer? Is it because everyone agrees that breasts are beautiful while penises are... well....

Or is it just easier to rally around a disease that affects women because they're viewed as more fragile?

Not that I'm hating on breast cancer support. I'm just curious why there isn't the same level of prostate cancer support.

PS - I don't suffer from it. Just curious about this difference in coverage.

I'm on the road back, having concluded my 6th Cycle on Thursday, October 2nd. Tis a bumpy road, mind you, as I am still afflicted with Neuropathy of my feet, which are both numb, allied with swollen ankles. Makes walking quite challenging. I'm feeling how nothing significant will change until mid-November or early December. That's just a hunch and I may be completely wrong. I'm no doctor.

When I first began my Cycles back in early June (2025), I was having my head shaved each week. Then it stopped growing completely, though several days ago I noticed how it has begun to grow again

The aim of the book is to provide a comprehensive General Practice text book which takes a contemporary, integrative approach to diagnosis, investigation and management of health issues and disease states encountered in the general practice environment. The book covers the philosophy underpinning general practice in the 21st Century, and deals with primary and secondary prevention as well as acute and chronic disease management.

General Practice: The Integrative Approach informs doctors as fully as possible about potential treatment and prevention options, as well as potential pitfalls according to the growing evidence base in this area. The book is directed at best practice rather than alternative practice. The first section of the textbook lays the foundations and principles of Integrative Medicine and the second section examines important medical conditions in a systems based approach.

Each chapter begins by detailing the medical and consulting knowledge required of a standard GP text, discussing physiology and pharmacological management plans of systems-based conditions. The chapter then leads into an evidence-based discussion of the therapeutic options available for the treatment of associated factors, essentially providing practitioners with the knowledge required to adapt their approach to meet the needs of the individual patient.

A national panel of experts with experience in Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, naturopathy, and exercise therapy have contributed to their various fields of expertise to incorporate management plans that utilise a variety of therapeutic modalities to achieve the best clinical outcome.

Incorporates evidence-based and safe therapies including conventional medical care, lifestyle interventions, complementary therapies.

Approach is holistic in focus

Focuses on prevention and health promotion

Symptomatic layout matches the approach of contemporary medical curriculum

Each therapeutic modality and therapeutics contributor will be allocated an icon, throughout the book the icon will appear near the corresponding therapeutics text for easy modality reference

Unique chapter – Integrative Medicine and the Law – covering medico-legal issues.

The different kinds of prostate cancer treatment.

This will probably be my last posting in some days as we will be heading down to Southern California for my husband's treatment. So will give you a shot of what will be our life for the next couple of months. It will certainly be a different experience though I doubt I'll give up meat ;-) (Reference to the SDA being vegetarian).

Prostate cancer usually occurs in older men and forms in tissues of the prostate (a gland in the male reproductive system found below the bladder and in front of the rectum). To Know more about Prostate Cancer see the below link

There are no warning signs of early prostate cancer. Once a tumour causes the prostate gland to swell, or once cancer spreads beyond the prostate, the following symptoms may happen:

🔵 A frequent need to urinate, especially at night

🔵 Difficulty starting or stopping a stream of urine

🔵 A weak or interrupted urinary stream

🔵 Leaking of urine when laughing or coughing

🔵 Inability to urinate standing up

🔵 A painful or burning sensation during urination or ejaculation

🔵 Blood in urine or semen

These are not symptoms of cancer itself; instead, they are caused by the blockage from the cancer growth in the prostate.
