Jean announced the launch of a new website, invalidateprop8.org/ People were protesting here because of the millions of dollars the Mormons' Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints donated to pro-Prop 8 TV and radio ads.

Nicolas Gurerra and Micheal Moore march in a protest November 2008 after Proposition 8 was passed making same sex marriage illegal.
On Nov 4, California was a major factor behind Obama taking office, yet the same state narrowly passed Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage.... Clearly wrong on so many levels, let alone the fact that it should not be something up for a vote. Nov 7th, the people of San Francisco took to the streets to show their disgust and raise awareness. The march started near Civic Center and went to Dolores Park. I stayed at Market and 9th with a group who blocked Market Street for nearly 3 hours in an act of civil disobedience. The main group of marchers came back from Dolores, the entire mass went to the steps of city hall, and then ended up in the heart of The Castro.
