Selina Robinson, Minister of Finance, discusses amendments to the Property Law Act that will enable the creation of a homebuyer protection period to balance risk in an overheated real estate market.
Enargite-pyrite from Montana, USA. (SDSMT 1789, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Museum of Geology, Rapid City, South Dakota, USA)
A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are over 4900 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.
The sulfide minerals contain one or more sulfide anions (S-2). The sulfides are usually considered together with the arsenide minerals, the sulfarsenide minerals, and the telluride minerals. Many sulfides are economically significant, as they occur commonly in ores. The metals that combine with S-2 are mainly Fe, Cu, Ni, Ag, etc. Most sulfides have a metallic luster, are moderately soft, and are noticeably heavy for their size. These minerals will not form in the presence of free oxygen. Under an oxygen-rich atmosphere, sulfide minerals tend to chemically weather to various oxide and hydroxide minerals.
Enargite is a scarce copper arsenosulfide mineral, Cu3AsS4. It has a metallic luster, dark gray to black color and streak, and a Mohs hardness of 3. This mineral often occurs in a massive or granular form, or in radiating masses. It can form tabular or prismatic or blocky crystals having a pseudohexagonal cross-section. Some crystal faces can have striations. Enargite breaks along several planes of cleavage and also breaks along irregular fracture surfaces. It usually occurs in copper sulfide-bearing hydrothermal veins. It has been mined as an ore mineral of copper, but the arsenic is a "penalty element". Extra money has to be spent during ore processing to remove the arsenic.
The enargite sample shown above is from Butte, Montana. Enargite is one of the three most important copper-bearing ore minerals in the Central Zone of the Butte Mining District. For many decades, Butte was the # 1 producer of copper on Earth. Enargite at Butte occurs in copper sulfide-rich hydrothermal veins (dating to ~62-66 million years) that intrude the Butte Quartz Monzonite, a pluton of the Boulder Batholith (mid-Campanian Stage, late Late Cretaceous, 76 million years).
Locality: Badger State Mine, Butte Mining District, Silver Bow County, southwestern Montana, USA

Crown mountain is one of a scattering of volcanic plugs just beyond the western rim of the Tweed Caldera in northern NSW (others include Edinborough Castle and the Beehive). Nestled beneath it's dramatic shape is the ironically named small rural town of Urbenville. I happened across this pitcturesque scene of a working property tucked away on the southern feet of the mountain near the turnoff towards Tooloom Falls. With the tip of the mountain still glowing in the dying embers from a long hot summer day, the farmer sweats one last run on the tractor before retiring into the hazy dusk of the coming evening.

Description:
This is the view of the property. No vegetation. It's quiet except for the wind. It's hot and theres bucket loads of work to do. This is what we'd come to do, deposit water containers. The one you see here is a Shutz IBC 1000ltr container.
A Shutz - IBC unit storage for non hazardous liquids. Ruggedised and able to store 1000L, this light and portable liquid transporter is suitable for drinking water if purchased new. If you don't have a permanent water supply or need to transport water on a Ute this is just the product. Weighing in at 48Kg empty, when full they come in at 1100Kg. Useful stuff and as rare as hens teeth. I had to travel the other side of Melbourne to get a new one.
The journey
Previously at the lumber yard picking up the portable water containers. I got these from a long time mate at no cost who works at CEVA. Loading the containers with the forklift. As you can see we had access to a lot of extra resources at very short notice.
We had the truck loaded with 3000 litre capacity to store water. There is no power, no pump. The tank has been breached. The only fresh water is 5 kilometers away. Power has been supplied within 48hours through a simple petrol (not diesel, they'd all sold out) generator.
This is a shot in Whittlesea approaching the second Police line. To get in you need a special pass. They are pass out tags attached to a person who lives there. We have a spare - dont ask how! We passed the Police line and proceeded to the fire zone.
Turn off at Yea/Kinglake road. First view. This is the Kinglake West telephone exchange. It's new. The old one has burnt down. Connected to it is a generator running 24/7. Gone is Tommys Hut to the right. A fixture in Kinglake West since 1862.

Getting stuff done with nothing
I presented this quick talk to an audience at Trampoline on Saturday, 28th March, 2009. Before I started I read out a few key words and explained the format of the talk. You can also look at a manga version of the talk.
Hello, my name is Peter. My talk is called "Getting stuff done with nothing". Before I begin I'll tell you something about myself. My first computer was a ZX-80. I don't get out much and I haven't been to a meeting for a long time. I'm one of those Gen-X slackers, I went to school for almost 20 years and worked mostly in Startups and software. So you could say I'm a bit of an expert on the topic. Well at least one.
We (my brother, sister, her bloke, myself and a good mate) undertook two distinct operations. The first, Operation Genny. The objective: to deliver power in the form of a generator. The second, Operation Shutz. The objective to deliver clean water supply tanks up to 3000 litres with 1 tank capable of being put on a ute. We completed both. We had feet on the ground within 48 hours of the fire occurring for the generator. The water supply following some 2 weeks later.
None of this would have been possible if emotional sister and determined brother used speed to the fire zone within couple of hours. The reward, a pass to move through the police road blocks. Had it not been for this quick thinking. Nothing we planned would have come to fruition.

Using elastic properties of stretchable materials, components are inserted in thread matrices that hold them strongly. Next step would be to find or create a conductive thread matrix version of this stretch garment. It exists in materials research labs [ in sweden (lena berglin) and also in gent (project SWEET) ] but they are not on the market yet :( for instance the beautiful tfcg.elis.ugent.be/projects/stretchable.html
This material opens also the opportunity to think about stapleable electronics that would be inserted between the threads. Smt films could be placed by a specific stapler, and the connections ruggerized with a thermostreching process.
One big advantage of this elastic is also how it facilitates arduino to get out the breadboard ;)
