On the way back after visiting some great surf beaches on the atlantic coast, I stopped at this wind mill after sunset.

Still getting used to my new camera, the Fuji X-E1, I tried to blur the propellers to convey a movement effect.

NGC 1365 is a double barred spiral galaxy and is known as the "Great Barred Spiral Galaxy" and being located in the constellation of Fornax is also known as the "Fornax Propeller Galaxy".

This galaxy is a Southern hemisphere target and only raises to a maximum of 16 degrees from Los Coloraos. However the chance to capture a galaxy that is not normally captured in the North has an attraction to it. The view to the horizon is great at Los Coloraos and worth trying these targets from time to time.

With the 10 nights of imaging, I managed to get a usable 10 hours of data. The data is not really that great and I had a battle with gradients due to being so low on the horizon. DBE applied multiple times really helped in cleaning up what the flats were unable to correct.

Thank you for looking.

The Amata sperbius moth mimics wasps to avoid predation and manages to look pretty damn beautiful while doing it.

This specimen was found at the Phu Quoc Bee Farm in the northern part of the Vietnamese island.

I shot this picture as part of a spec shoot for True Blood where producers pitched a series of 12 underwater images to land a gig doing advertising for the show. I was just told I am allowed to release the images, so I put some of them up in a blog post :-D The shoot was based around a previous shoot I had done in this same pool with red fabric. I wanted the fabric to be reminiscent of blood, and so I heavily desaturated all that was not fabric in order to give it a grittier feeling. I would love to play with more compositions like this, shooting from a little further back than I normally do, playing up the negative space.

Otters swim by propelling themselves with their powerful tails and flexing their long bodies. They also have webbed feet, water repellent fur to keep them dry and warm, and nostrils and ears that close in the water. They remain active in winter, using ice holes to surface and breathe. They can hold their breath underwater for up to eight minutes.
