I found this small propeller encased in concrete, along the brick sidewalk of Cherry Street in Macon, GA. There were no other markings other than the date, February 18, 1928.
After asking around, I found out that the plaque is a memorial, marking the location of a tragic airplane crash on Cherry Street in Macon, GA, on February 18, 1928. In an article titled "Disaster on Cherry Street", author Rick Maier describes the events that unfolded on that day, describing it as "one of the most bizarre incidents in the modern history of Macon."
The full article can be found at the following location www.rickmaier.com/articles/10-airplane_crash.pdf

Out on the tar plains, the glides are moving
All looking for a new place to drive
You sit beside me, so newly charming
Sweating dew drops glisten, freshing your side
And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind the front of your dress all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time with your beating heart
Planes include: Spitfire MH434, Curtiss P-40F Warhawk, and Curtiss P-40B Warhawk.

This is my first light for the Autumn season 2011
The article in the magazine is about places to visit. It has this to say about what looks like an amazing hotel:
"PROPELLER ISLAND LODGE, GERMANY
WHAT? Artist Lars Stroschen's imagination clearly knows no limits. Every idiosyncratic room he's created for this gallery-like hotel in Berlin's hip Charlottenburg district tells a different story. From lion cages to computer art to simply spaced out fantasies. You'll find spooky coffin beds (with lids), slanted floors, toilet thrones and upside down furniture.
COME HERE FOR: Schloss Charlottenburg, the most beautiful palace in Berline; the local streets lined with Bond Street-type boutiques; oh, and the absolute weirdness of it all.

You really MUST check out that website - the room designs are out of this world! Like your wildest dreams.
