This is a photograph from the 5th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 13th of March 2016 at 12:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. This year the course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. There was almost a total of 1,000 participants in both races.

The other great variable in road racing - the weather - was at its spectacular best. It was as close to perfect running conditions. Little or no breeze, around 10C temperature and clear conditions.

Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for five years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.

The race is supported by substantial local sponsorship from businesses in the local area.

Timing and event management was provided by http://www.myrunresults.com/. Their website is here [www.myrunresults.com/] and will contain the results to today's race.

We have photographs from both the start and the finish of the races today - they are all available on Flickr [https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157665850980555]. Some photographs of the 10KM are included.

BUT..... Wait there a minute....

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.

This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?

You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.

I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?

If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

If you really like what we do please spread the link around your social media, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc. If you are using the photographs in newspapers or magazines we ask that you mention where the original photograph came from.

I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs

We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?

The explaination is very simple.

Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.

ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Abtran Charity Club Promotes OvaCare’s Inaugural Awareness Day - 8th May 2013

I am part of the Volusia County Art Consorteum, a small group of artists who enjoy promoting our art and showing at various events. Because I do watercolor, I prefer to be inside the building, while many of the folks who do oils and acrylics stay outdoors. That day was particularly windy, too, and as the venue is right across the street from the river, the wind was really blowing. Glass in the frames blowing over wouldn't be a good idea, either, so though there's not as much visibility, indoors is best for me.

This was my second show, and I had one sale, something that many of the artists weren't as fortunate to get. The person I was showing with, my long time friend, Jim Edwards, who is an accomplished artist and does lovely seascapes, got lots of attention, but no sales this time. Since we're both unemployed, starving artists now, we've been pulling for each other! Times are tough, though, and I feel blessed that I was able to make a sale.

This woman twirled fire, and was quite interesting! There was a strong smell of propane or kerosene, though, which wasn't too pleasant. I was pretty amazed by some of the things she did without setting herself on fire!

I'm the creative director at Plaxo and we've had some success working with artists to sell and promote their work. For example, we partnered with The Ferret Company (www.ferretcompany.com/store.html) last year.

We turned Jeanne Carley's ferret photography into eCards and distributed them via eCards at Plaxo during November and December.

Embedded in each cards was a link to the store on her website where people could buy her calendars. Artists retain all rights to their work. We don't charge for this, but we don't pay either. It's designed to be a win-win deal. We get fresh art in eCards and artists can promote their work.

I've added some of my own artwork to promote my illustrated book, 'Kanji Pictographix'.

If you're interested, drop me a line.

New Haven was founded in 1836 as a riverboat stop on the Missouri River first called "Miller's Landing." Founder Phillip Miller operated a wood yard on the river to fuel the steamboat trade.

In the 1850s the arrival of the Union Pacific railroad brought increased commerce and economic activity to the area. In 1856, town fathers changed the name from Miller's Landing to "New Haven", reflecting the growth of the town from its origins as a steamboat stop.

German immigrants helped settle the area through the 19th century, many of them coming from the Borgholzhausen, Germany area in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, New Haven maintains an active Sister-City partnership with Borgholzhausen.

New Haven continued to grow through the 20th century. The town has several churches built in the 19th century and early 20th century. Much of the original downtown district, dating from the late 19th century, remains. Both the downtown area, as well as a residential neighborhood near downtown, are listed on the [National Register of Historic Places]. An Arts District has been established in the downtown and features a variety of Artisans. New Haven's history is promoted and preserved by two museums: the John Colter Museum downtown and the Springgate Museum in the Old New Haven Elementary School, hosted by the New Haven Preservation Society.

A military promotion is a significant achievement in a service member's career. It's a testament to their commitment, mastery of duties and skills, and to the service member's leadership capabilities.

Today, the Patriot Brigade celebrated a momentous promotion as our Brigade Surgeon, Rick M. Hawkins, was promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel. Way to go, Doc!

The 2nd round of the 2013 Mullingar Road League 5KM Race, Fun Run, and Walk was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 8th May 2013 at 20:00. The race follows a completely traffic free course around the trails and paths of Belvedere House. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. The weather was much more wintery this evening for the second round and participants had to content with a very cold stiff breeze in some places on the course. As was the case last week there was a fantastic atmosphere as runners and joggers and walkers tackled the undulating course and a tough finish up the hill at the Jealous Wall and the finish line at Belvedere House.

Electronic timing was provided by Precision Timing [www.precisiontiming.net]

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 550 people took part in both events with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.
