This is a photograph from the finish of the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon which was held on Saturday 27th August 2016 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 11:00. This is the fourth year of the event. The race is organised and promoted by Tullamore Harriers AC. The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter Tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course. 2013 seen the first year of the event as the club commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs.

The race was perfectly organised. The weather was good for racing but there was warm summer weather for the entire race which made for warmer than usual running conditions There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each.
As mentioned above this race half marathon started in 2013 and celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". The Quinlan Cup which will be awarded to the winning club team. For more than 40 years the Harriers Quinlan Cup was the most prestigious event on the road racing calendar. Having started as a cross-country race back in 1957, it became a road race in 1967 and remained so until 2000 when the race was last held. During its reign as a blue-ribband event the Quinlan Cup was won by the likes of John Treacy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the second round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 14th May 2014 at 20:00. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 380 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was much improved on last week with warm and mild conditions for the race.

This is a photograph from the 11th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon which was promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 12th of March 2023 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. In 2016 the original course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. The race also includes the 49th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 46th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team). Over, 1400 participants finished the race.
This photograph was taken at the 6 mile/12 mile point in the course.
The weather was mild but very breezy and windy. A very strong westerly wind blew into the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for six years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come. This race takes place about one month after the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.

Please join us for an armchair conversation with Carol Pier, Deputy Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Department of Labor. This discussion will focus on how the U.S. government helps ensure that workers around the world are treated fairly and able to share in the benefits of the global economy. Ms. Pier will discuss how the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) works to improve global working conditions, raise living standards, protect workers' ability to exercise their rights, and address the workplace exploitation of children and other vulnerable populations.
Ms. Pier joined ILAB in 2009, serving as Associate Deputy Undersecretary and Acting Deputy Undersecretary. For ten years prior, Ms. Pier worked on labor rights and trade issues for Human Rights Watch, the largest U.S.-based non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights. She documented and reported on workers' rights violations around the world, analyzed foreign and domestic labor laws, and engaged in advocacy on labor rights and trade matters in the United States and abroad.

This is a photograph from the 5th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 13th of March 2016 at 12:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. This year the course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. There was almost a total of 1,000 participants in both races.
The other great variable in road racing - the weather - was at its spectacular best. It was as close to perfect running conditions. Little or no breeze, around 10C temperature and clear conditions.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for five years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.
The race is supported by substantial local sponsorship from businesses in the local area.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the start of the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon which was held on Saturday 26th August 2017 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 11:00. This is the fifth year of the event. The race is organised and promoted by Tullamore Harriers AC. The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter Tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course. 2013 seen the first year of the event as the club commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs.

The race was perfectly organised. The weather was good for racing but there was warm summer weather for the entire race which made for warmer than usual running conditions There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each.
As mentioned above this race half marathon started in 2013 and celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". The Quinlan Cup which will be awarded to the winning club team. For more than 40 years the Harriers Quinlan Cup was the most prestigious event on the road racing calendar. Having started as a cross-country race back in 1957, it became a road race in 1967 and remained so until 2000 when the race was last held. During its reign as a blue-ribband event the Quinlan Cup was won by the likes of John Treacy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

First Baptist Church at the Mall's internal poster for Good Friday. This poster is 2 of 3 in a series to promote the upcoming Easter Services.
The colors were changed to reflect the mood each of these days would have had or the mood that might have been subliminally there, as is the case with Palm Sunday.
The brackets were initially added to only Good Friday, however, we felt it was best to add them to the rest of the titles for visual consistency. We felt that for those who understood the use of brackets, it would add that much more meaning to each word, especially

This is a photograph from the 9th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon which was promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of March 2020 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. In 2016 the original course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. This is the second year of the half marathon only event. The major change for 2019 seen the half marathon become the only race of the day. Previously, there was a 10KM race option also presented. This year well over 1000 participants finished the race which sold out many weeks in advance. The race also includes the 47th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 44th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team).
The weather was a slight improvement on the very wintry weather of 2019. A very strong westerly wind contined and this was in the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1. There was also a very heavy hail shower at around midday.

This race takes place about one month after the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.

Recognizing that we live in a digital age, Sarra Laamarti (TL, 2015) was inspired to enter the field of STEM. She is now a leader in engineering and technology in Tangier, Morocco. She is currently working as an Organizer for Google Developers Group chapter (GDG) to promote the role of technology in the community. The Google Developers Group (GDG) is an international initiative by Google that aims to strengthen youth skills in the tech field. Sarra is particularly passionate about women’s empowerment in STEM. She has organized several events to promote female techmakers including with DevFest .
Inspired by her MEPI experience, which boosted her professional growth and civic engagement, Sarra joined the GDG Tangier initiative in 2019. Having made a great life with her profession as an engineer, she joined the initiative to mentor youth on how to improve STEM skills which lead to job opportunities and the different opportunities available in the field. Through this initiative, she advocates for community growth and prosperity through professional development opportunities. She sets up workshops, helps connect people to internships, and provides people with instructive advice. With the lack of mentorship resources provided to women interested in STEM, Sarra concentrates many of her efforts with GDG on women.
Sarra wishes to continue helping the community in the next five to ten years by spreading knowledge, building a digital community, and empowering individuals in her community in Tangier and across Morocco.
Sarra is very appreciative of being a part of the MEPI Alumni network with a vast range of skill sets and backgrounds, she feels fortunate to be able to connect with other MEPI alumni professionals and learn from their insights and expertise. She reflects, “The network has been tremendously empowering throughout the journey.”

Caribbean Bananas: Organic Production vs. Disease Control
ROME (IPS) - FAO is currently supporting two seemingly contradictory projects in Caribbean countries: while one seeks to promote organic production, the other involves the use of chemical fungicides to fight black sigatoka, the worst enemy of this key food crop.

This meeting provided a dialogue between civil society, government and multilateral institutions on means to promote inclusive and accountable public services, leveraging citizen engagement through social accountability tools and practices and civil society partnerships with governments and ADB.
In cooperation with leading research institutions, UNDP in Ukraine has developed and distributed brochures, booklets, films, posters, and CDs on the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, and on safety and health. One of the most successful was the film "Alfa, Beta, Gamma - Alphabet of Understanding," as well as guide books for teachers and health care workers.

Promoted in popular culture as "the most haunted night club in America", Mackey claims the site was originally used as a slaughterhouse in the early 19th century and later torn down for construction of a roadhouse that took on various names, such as The Brisbane, until he purchased it in 1978. Various urban legends and modern folklore claim that the site features a "gateway to hell" and is haunted by spirits including Pearl Bryan, whose corpse was found in a field 2.5 miles from the site in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Other legends claim Bryan's murderers were Satanists who cursed the location and vowed to haunt everyone involved in prosecuting the case. There is also a legend that claims a pregnant dancer named "Johanna" committed suicide with poison in the 1950s after her father murdered her lover Robert Randall, a singer at the club, by hanging him in the dressing room.
In 2006, the Discovery Channel's docudrama series A Haunting featured the nightclub.
In 2008, the premiere episode of the Travel Channel's ghost-hunting series Ghost Adventures featured interviews with former caretaker Carl Lawson, and author Douglas Hensley. The network later released a 3-part web series called Return to Bobby Mackey's, and the nightclub was featured again on the program in late 2010.
On November 16, 2011, the nightclub was featured on the SyFy program Ghost Hunters.

Please join us for an armchair conversation with Carol Pier, Deputy Undersecretary for International Affairs at the Department of Labor. This discussion will focus on how the U.S. government helps ensure that workers around the world are treated fairly and able to share in the benefits of the global economy. Ms. Pier will discuss how the Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) works to improve global working conditions, raise living standards, protect workers' ability to exercise their rights, and address the workplace exploitation of children and other vulnerable populations.
Ms. Pier joined ILAB in 2009, serving as Associate Deputy Undersecretary and Acting Deputy Undersecretary. For ten years prior, Ms. Pier worked on labor rights and trade issues for Human Rights Watch, the largest U.S.-based non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights. She documented and reported on workers' rights violations around the world, analyzed foreign and domestic labor laws, and engaged in advocacy on labor rights and trade matters in the United States and abroad.
