"I promise that I'll hold you when it's cold out
And we'll lose our winter coats in the spring
'Cause lately I was thinking I never told you
That every time I see you my heart sings

Many people will be traveling to gather with friends and family over the Holidays. It's a wonderful opportunity to see people not seen for some time, share a meal, swap stories, and hopefully, to reflect on the gift of life itself. Promise me that you'll enjoy the ride and take your time. Promise me that you'll be vigilant and travel safely. You owe it to the people waiting for you, fellow travelers, and to yourself as well.
Have a happy and safe Christmas!
Most landscape photographers aim for the start and end of the day when the sun is low and the light is more favourable. Of those 2 options my favourite is definitely sunrise. It's harder to get up early and head out to find a spot to shoot and as a result I almost always end up having the place to myself.
There is something very special about witnessing the start of a new day full of promise.
While recently visiting my father for his re-marriage, he gave me the ring my mother once gave to him. My mothers promise, I now wear next to my heart. They remind me of how brave, beautiful and dependable she was. When she said 'I do" she did.

And a nice, ever increasing clump of Reticulata Iris getting ready to bloom. Look at the stiff little white "beaks"on the tips of the wee shoots! Amazing!! They literally push their way to the surface with that pointy little beak! Nature is sooo cool!
I know I promised this some time ago so I figured it's about time I delivered. This is a sequence of nine successive (reading left to right from top left to bottom right) shots of an Arctic Hare running. Actually it's one of two such sequences I managed to grab... the other is probably even a little better since it was running and turning at the same time. It's the first time I've tried one of these mosaics. Some of my contacts (and you know who you are) do a much better job of this than I do.
You might need to look at it in one of the larger versions to really appreciate it.

yesterday was the first real day of fall in Charleston! that is, if you consider 80 degrees chilly (which i do haha). the breeze was cool, the sky was that blue color that only occurs this time of year, and i was in a fantastic mood, so obviously, i went and took pictures in my favorite forest location. i wish the leaves were already this color, but ya know, a girl can dream ;)
i tried a new technique with free-lensing for this, and i'm really happy with the results! i'll have to do more photos like this since i have motivation for photos again <3
view large! i know, i say that for every photo, but DO IT haha

Tiny bloom in our very small lilac bush blooming after several nights of freezing temperatures. Was happy to find the buds had survived and were starting to bloom dispite the freezing temps. Thunderstorms tonight with a dusting of snow a slight possibility.
Not much else to photo at our house right now so our slowly opening small lilac has become a subject than our redbud until our iris bloom later. :) Very breezy so hard to get focus.
I promise to start taking some new pictures at some point. I'm settled in to my new house, with all the new furnishings~ it's strange and new, and did I say strange? I feel like I'm staying in a fancy hotel, everything is beautiful it just doesn't quite seem to be mine yet. A strange and unfamiliar territory. One more busy week, and hopefully life will return to normal.
Happy Friday, and thank you to all of you
~❤️~

我還記得 我們的約定
我比以前還更愛你了
連那風都笑我了
我想它會告訴你的
我更愛你了
I still remember
Our promise
I love you even more than the last time
Even the wind is laughing at me
It surely will tell you
I love you even more now

就這樣 两年又過了
我還是回到這個地方
閉上眼 等你的出現
空氣中吻你的臉
Just like this
Two years have passed
I still go back to this same place
Close my eyes while waiting for you to appear
Kissing your face in the air
我還記得
我們的約定
一輩子幸福的約定
為你寫的那首歌
它也偷偷的掉淚了
I still remember
Our promise
A Promise of happiness for a lifetime
The song I wrote for you
It also cried secretly.....

An African sunrise -- so full of promise -- most appropriate as I prepare my very first novel for the publisher.
I completed the final draft of Martha's Vine, last night. Now, a final read-through (no small feat - the book is over 500 pages) and then -- off for publishing.
This image is a tribute to three wonderful people who took me through the process -- nearly every step of the way.
Other people have been there, too -- some as readers, and some offering friendly support and loving encouragement. I am so grateful to those folks, too -- like Susan, Bill, Gina, Sharon, Sunny, Dave, Peter, Elie, John, Claudio, Kirsten, Sylvia, Jenny, Ronald, Lindsay, Joe, Steve, Adrian, and Julie. And to all those Flickr friends who have dropped by my photostream with their comments and best wishes -- you have my undying gratitude.
But this image is dedicated to the three men that stuck with me, and encouraged me through the hard times. And there were some very hard times.
My devoted husband and brilliant editor, David Thiel.
My friend and mentor, Rob Christman.
My friend and inspiration, Aaron Winters.
Thank-you! You have my deepest affection.
And there is one more -- photographer and graphic artist, TheWalkinMan, who designed the book's cover. Thank you, Fred.
With humble gratitude,
Sheree
