House of the Seamen's Guildhall
Convention house of the seamen and skippers. Only building of its kind still existing in Lubeck, today historic restaurant, constructed in 1535, entrance newly designed by Dietrich Jurgen Boy in 1768. In 1880 new facing of the gable front with industrially produced bricks. Portrait of sailing vessel, tablet with aphorisms and vane with sailing vessel from the 17th century, bench-ends from 1745.
From plaque on the front of the building- the folk of Lubeck are very generous, in that each of such description plaques is given in English as well as German!

On my way from the bus stop to the venue for tonight's Fringe Festival show I paused at Te Aro Park and snapped this pigeon. Seconds before he had been dipping a foot into the water and hurriedly taking it back out again, just like a kid on the beach when the sea is cold but they want to paddle anyway.

My entry into week 27 for the Project Flickr group.
This one was shot a while ago in New Zealand, on Karangahape Rd, in Auckland City.
I know the requirements, and the photo is meant to be shot during this week, but i thought this would be a great time to add this to my Photostream, as i have not yet. (so forget that detail)
Also, since adding it to an album on my Facebook, a friend has pointed out that this was Margaret, a 'street lady'(she actually had a house to live in, but hung out on the street the most) from Auckland's K'rd who has been there for the last 27 years.
I had no idea, but looking into it, i believe it is her.
She died a few weeks after taking this picture.

This evening Rik and I went on the Greater Wellington Regional Council 4WD trip to the Belmont Trig in Belmont Regional Park to watch the sunset.
We were so pleased to get to go. Two years ago we were on the waiting list but didn't get to go; last year it was cancelled because the weather was bad. About 18 vehicles went. Our driver was a lovely young Dutch guy, a secondary school teacher.

Hard to believe that we're into spring and I haven't done a daff shot yet. Tis the season to be sure.
These ones are actually mini daffodils and they're planted along the footpath to the main entrance at work.
These ones were back and side lit given the time of day, but I spent about a quarter of a second composing it. Shame on me!
As a token of appreciation and symbol of the strong relationship between Wake Forest and the Nicaraguan business community, Maryurieth Lazo, one of the owners of NicaTextil, presented students with the country’s flag that is now proudly displayed on a wall inside of the Worrell Professional Center.

This evening Jae and I went to look at the Christmas lights in Whitby. Not as spectacular as the ones in Paraparaumu but some lovely ones, nonetheless.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a non-fiction book where Rebecca Skloot recounts what she learned about an African American woman named Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta Lacks had cervical cancer, and her cells became the first immortal cell line (her cells are still found in laboratories all over the world today). Her cell line is known as "HeLa", and her cells helped people make numerous medical & scientific discoveries.
For my first concept, I made the H in "Henrietta" out of scientific test tubes on a rack. For the title, I made "HeLa" stand out in Henrietta's name by making those letters capitalized.
For my second concept, I drew the title a little differently but still wanted the "HeLa" to stand out (made them different colors). For the H in the middle, I drew cells on the left of the H (because the story is largely focused on Henrietta's cells), and a red nail polish bottle on the right (because there is a significant part in the story where Henrietta is said to have always worn red nail polish). Then, I drew DNA going through the H.

My closet after some cleaning. I really love my school bus bag and it's huge too which is nice. In the corner on top of my funky blue slippers is a pile of my dance clothes, leotards, tights, shoes, etc.
A small project consisting of setting up a shoot with random passersby and getting them to pull a face.

Lighting is provided by a softbox umbrella camera right and a bare strobe for hair light.
The road is full of bumps. Ups and downs. It's the way it should be. It's expected. Like deep ruts etched out in the corner of a back water unmentionable you couldn't even find on a map, or a GPS, let alone navigate at speeds in excess of 40mph. It's all a part of the ride. It's just expected. We go up, and we feel alive. It's a hell of a lift. Then we go down. And like the death plunge that immediately fallows cresting the summit of a rollercoaster, we are suddenly filled with an urge of not only distress but concern, as parts of our higher brain function grasp the lack of gravity, and scream forth "Oooooooh, I do not like this!"
Ready or not. Here we go...Ready or not, we go down. Right smack dab into the middle of the unknown. It's what we should be prepared for.
And for the life of me...I wasn't prepared for this.
...And now, we wait...
