Otaki

Today we drove Adrian up the Kapiti Coast to Otaki. Partly to see the scenery on the way up and partly so he could go to the outlet stores there before our skiing trip. Once we'd done the shops and had some brunch we went down to the river. It is still officially winter (spring starts on 1st September) but everywhere I look there is yellow, Not just the daffodils but this yellow tree. I don't know what it is called but it is pretty.

The Toronto skyline viewed at the rooftop of Hyatt! Had a summerlicious dinner with my crazy awesome high school buddies at Annona and thank you to my friend's bf, our chef! Omg, the five course meal filled us up like whoa.

(Now if only I adjusted my settings for this night shot. Oh how gorgeous the view was!)

#61 of 365 Daily Drawings

Inspiration: Looking at Men's Vogue

Result: A coffee break

Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Micron 005 & 02 pens, in a Moleskine plain journal

Location: At home

Note: Aside from drooling over men's fashion collections I really have no idea what corner of my brain this one popped out of....he turned out dreadfully severe though. Like a professor who's coffee break has been interrupted by an annoying grad student....

AND just in case you were wondering...I am 1/6th of the way through my drawing-a-day-for-a-year project!

This evening Rik and I went to Two Souls for dinner then on to Te Papa (our national museum) to the 75 years of Air New Zealand exhibition which I visited recently but Rik did not.

I took this photo of Frank Kits Park as we walked to the railway station to go home.

Oly meets Oly. The new boy met the old boy today. I was hunting for a picture and found my old Oly Trip 35 gathering dust in a cupboard. I get the feeling that we'll see more of this

Day 314 of my 365 Project: One giant baked potato, topped with butter, ranch dressing and cheddar cheese, then loaded with bacon and accompanied by a token salad. Makes for a pretty good lunch on a Friday afternoon.

The picture on top is my reflection photo. I choose to take a picture of lipsticks because I thought it was creative. I also like the bright reds in this. I added some minor adjustments like brightening the photo and taking out some yellow as well as boosting the reds. I found the lipsticks in my mom's makeup cabinet. The exposure for this top photo was one sixth of a second. The reason it was so slow was that it was taken indoors in a bathroom.

The second picture is scissors. To me scissors have a very distinct shape so I thought it would fit the project well. I took this picture on my desk at a one thirtieth of a second. I made a few adjustment in the beginning, but I thought the picture just looked really plain. I clicked the invert button by accident while editing the picture, but I ended up liking the filter very much because it really made the shadow pop. Also, i boosted the yellow all the way and it made the whole background black. I liked this project because I liked to think about shadows and reflections when normally I see them and just pass them by.

One idea for my group with Tina and Allison.

Project 50

50 images taken over 50 days (starting 01/01/12) using only my 50mm f1.4 lens

Buds

Signs of life in the garden

Portulaca. The blooms aren't as spectacular as they were before; I attribute that to the lack of full sunlight under HDB corridor conditions.

[19 October 08]

I'm all about recycling/reusing garbage. been collecting empty cigarette packs from friends and strangers for over a month now; project will be completed shortly.

You can see the outline of the shoulder blades forming. Also the trunk arching from the top of the skull and the basic jawline.

#5 of Project 365Pia is a foster who is staying with us for the purposes of socialization. She's a little beauty, although she still struggles with smiling for the camera...

A bleak sky, a bleak view. Even the seagulls are unimpressed.

Today was a day I really needed, brought smiles to my face because it brought lunch from Mindy, yogurt from Nancy, and a wonderful dinner with Anh. I worked on a project I can't wait to show you, because being around the right people gives me this passion that drives me, makes me to want to do more. It just fuels my art.

I'm abit behind on uploading. Days 15, 16, &17 were all taken on the right days, I just didn't edit or upload any of them.

Day 15 was my drive-home day. My mom drove me to St. Lucie to get my car, &then I drove the rest of the way. I have to say, it was pretty nice heading home, getting off the highway, &knowing I was going back to my apartment.

Muffy chilled in the backseat the whole ride, but in my mom's car &mine.

These are some of my favorite photos from a project I did while working on my photography degree. It was based on color. What do these colors make you feel?
