A 2-day workshop on ‘Project Management with MS Project-2010’ was organized at the QESCO HQ for the DISCO’s project directors, managers and engineers enabling them to understand the best practices in the field of Project Management. The prime focus was on the application of MS Project 2010 for enabling the participants to use this tool, after which the participants can plan, manage and control their current and future projects in a more efficient manner.

The five points of project management contain start and initiation, planning, execution, act/monitoring, and project close.

As of January 2016, 243,750 people had fled the violence in Central African Republic (CAR) and become refugees in Cameroon.

UN Women Cameroon supports economic and social rehabilitation for vulnerable women and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in seven refugee camps in three regions of the country.

Rebecca (yellow head scarf) and Ouseina (green head scarf) both received business training and a small grant from UN Women, and they both work as vendors selling a variety of hot food, including meat stew and cassava dishes, at the main roundabout in the town of Ngam.

Project Management Documentation

At VFS Digital Design, we teach agile project management practices throughout the entire year. And what better way to refresh everyone's recollection of the 9 knowledge areas (scope, time, cost, human resources, procurement, risk, quality, communication and integration) than with a game!

In Term 4 Project Management 4, students were divided into four teams and briefed on a project they had just "won”. Using index cards and post-it notes the students were asked to record the goals, objectives, work breakdown structure including time allotted for major tasks, resources, and the risks of their respective projects and post them on the wall.

As part of the team building component of Term 1 Project Management, first term students are each given a box of dollar store objects and a mission: keep a marble moving along a course for as long a time as possible, with it ending up falling into an egg cup. Armed with plastic necklaces, dominoes, bendy straws, a roll of toilet tissue and other priceless objects, teams compete to create the best design to meet the goal. Upon completion, the teams analyzed their design for its strengths and weaknesses and the teams process key team dynamic components — How were design decisions made? How were disagreements resolved? How was leadership determined? Did team members contribute equally to the vision and how did they each fare when it came to implementation?

Bishop Hamungole’s Pastoral Ministry:

Bishop Moses has had a very busy pastoral schedule trying to reach out to every Parish and institution. His Passion to build the new Cathedral of Monze Diocese is one of the greatest symbols of his love for the Diocese of Monze.

The construction of the New Cathedral:

Bishop Moses began the project of the construction of the new cathedral. He was determined to put up a new Cathedral which has already been named as Holy Trinity Cathedral. On 21st December there was ground breaking that marked the beginning of the work at the New Cathedral site. Like Moses of the Bible who never lived to see his dream come true, Bishop Moses has not lived to see the completion of the construction of the Cathedral. May God reward him with a faithful Servant’s reward.

GRATITUDE

Many thanks to each and everyone who helped, generously supported and prayed

Led by Honolulu District Commander Lt. Col. Thomas D. Asbery, 14 District teammates and their friends and partners hiked to Makapu’u Lighthouse on April 15, 2013 to celebrate the 108th anniversary of the District’s founding.

The Corps’ history in Hawaii and the Pacific began in 1905 when Lt. John Slattery became the Honolulu District’s first commander. His original mission was to construct lighthouses for navigation, like Makapu’u.

Makapu’u Lighthouse was built by the Corps in 1909 on a 600-foot sea cliff overlooking Makapu’u Beach in southeast Oahu. Makapu’u Point is an important location passed by all ships moving between Honolulu and the U.S. Mainland.

The critical need for this light was demonstrated in August 1906 when the 27,000-ton S.S. Manchuria ran up on a reef off the point. Congress had already appropriated $60,000 for the light on October 1, 1909.

The lens for this light was one of the wonders of the Pacific. Press clips of the time noted that the lens, which had been exhibited at the Jamestown Exposition, was one of the most expensive in the world.

The lighthouse is 46-feet-tall (14 meters) and was fully automated in 1974. It is still an active U.S. Coast Guard navigation aid in use today.

As “America’s Engineers in the Pacific,” the District's civil works, military construction and environmental missions evolved over time -- in periods of peace and war -- for over 100 years.

Today, the Honolulu District is a full-service district, well prepared to provide a wide range of timely, effective, innovative solutions to meet our customers’ engineering, construction and environmental needs.

The Honolulu District has seven primary missions: Military Construction, Civil Works, Interagency and International Services, Real Estate, Regulatory, Environmental Services and Emergency Management.

Honolulu District offers project management, design, construction management, contracting, cost engineering and more.

The Honolulu District's area of operations is enormous - crossing five time zones, the international dateline and approximately 12 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean - and includes the territories of Guam, American Samoa and CNMI as well as the Freely Associated States including the Republic of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
