In the MBA program, I had to take a project management course where we had to complete an actual project for an external stakeholder. Our external stakeholder was the SFU School of Business, Graduate Programs, and we sent a weather balloon up to 100,000' of elevation with a camera, video camera, and some hops attached to it. When it returned to earth, we tracked it down with a triangulated radio device and recovered everything. Along the way, we got some pretty great pictures and some even better memories (although I wish I could forget about driving 3500km in the span of 72 hours).

Our 2010 action research team included three undergraduate students who got fully immersed in the topic of bicycle planning and engineering on a university campus. They read literature on the topic of transportation demand management (with a focus on bikiing and higher ed).

Global Project Logistics Network member Younger Niche Logistics (YNL) has the distinction of being responsible for the movement of the single largest piece of equipment ever moved by road transport in ZhangJiaGang, Jiangsu Province, China. The piece, 14m x 7.4m x 7.9m / 86,000kgs, was moved by road from the supplier's premises to PuXiang port, ZhangJiaGang. The move, covering 30 kms, took 22 hours to complete and involved the services of local ZhangJiaGang government, the police and officials from the department of electrical power.
In order to reduce height the unit was transported minus cradles. Only once alongside vessel was the unit postioned and secured in cradles.
PuXiang port, a privately owned facility, was chosen as the load port as access from suppliers whilst still difficult was the closest with less overhead obstructions than other roadways to the public port.
YNL were instrumental in obtaining berthing rights for the ocean carrier, a foreign flag vessel, at PuXiang port.

17 May 2023, Kalobeyei settlement, Kakuma, Turkana County, Kenya: 'Say no to SEA' (sexual exploitation and abuse) reads a logo on an LWF staff persons vest, as some of the circa 14,000 refugees currently accommodated there wait for the distribution of CRIs – core relief items, including blankets, soap, sanitary products, and buckets for water – at the reception centre of the Kalobeyei refugee settlement near Kakuma refugee camp. Managed by the Lutheran World Federation, the reception centre provides initial support to incoming refugees, including twice-daily meals, distribution of core-relief-items, pre-registration for refugee status, and referrals for specialist support. In recent months, a sudden influx of refugees – particularly from DRC, Burundi and South Sudan, many of whom have shifted from refugee camps in other countries due to worsened living conditions – has meant capacity is stretched, and with a lack of sufficient shelter material and land arrangements organised by the UNHCR, many refugees have stayed more than two months in the centre, despite the purpose of the facilities being to host people for up to two weeks before resettlement inside the actual refugee camp.
